The Seattle Mariners are placing Tom Wilhelmsen on the disabled list with a back injury and recall Dae-ho Lee from Triple-A. (Source: usatoday.com)

Fantasy Impact: Wilhelmsen was at best a waiver wire fill in so this move does not have much of an impact in regards to anyone's fantasy baseball season.

Tom Wilhelmsen surrendered a pair of runs in the seventh inning that broke a 1-1 tie as the Astros beat the Rangers for the first time this season. Wilhelmsen took the loss, allowing three hits and two runs in his two innings of work. He did strike out three batters as well.

Fantasy Impact: Wilhelmsen has been a huge disappointment for the Rangers this season. He was sent down to Triple-A where it appeared he had worked out the kinks, but tonight's outing is just another indicator that his struggles are continuing at the major league level.

Tom Wilhelmsen returned to the majors today and faced off against his former team in a mop-up situation tonight. Wilhelmsen, the former closer for the Mariners, pitched a scoreless ninth inning in the Rangers 10-4 win over Seattle.

Fantasy Impact: Wilhelmsen had all sorts of issues and had been sent down to Triple-A Round Rock. When he was demoted, he was sporting an ERA just under 10.00. In five games at Round Rock, Wilhelmsen went 0-1 with a 1.13 ERA. He tossed eight innings, giving up five hits and just one run, while walking one and striking out five.

Rangers reliever Tom Wilhelmsen has been optioned to Triple-A Round Rock and replaced on the roster by Luke Jackson.

Fantasy Impact: This should come as a surprise to no one as Wilhelmsen has been nothing short of awful for most of the season. He appeared in 17 games for the Rangers with a 2-2 record and an ERA of 9.98. The former Mariners closer only had six K's in 15.1 innings and a WHIP over 2.00.

Struggling Tom Wilhelmsen blew a save today, his second of the season, allowing four hits and three runs in just one inning of work, in the Rangers 7-6 win over Toronto.

Fantasy Impact: This season has been a nightmare for the former Mariners closer, and with Matt Bush now on the scene, don't be shocked if Wilhelmsen is given his release soon. He is currently 2-2 with a 9.98 ERA.

Tom Wilhelmsen gave up three hits, including home runs to Edwin Encarnarcion and Troy Tulowitzki in the Rangers 5-0 loss to Toronto. Wilhelmsen only recorded one out in the appearance and saw his ERA rise to 8.79

Fantasy Impact: The former Mariner closer has been a big disappointment for Texas this year. It was thought Wilhelmsen could be a back up closer to Shawn Tolleson, but he has not done anything this season to show he is up to the task.

Tom Wilhelmsen evened his season record at 2-2, pitching a perfect seventh inning and gaining the win in the Rangers 8-3 victory over Detroit on Sunday.

Fantasy Impact: Wilhelmsen has struggled for the most part in his first season with Texas. With Keone Kela out until July, his role in the bullpen will have increased importance.

Tom Wilhelmsen earned his first victory in a Texas uniform, as he was the pitcher of record when the Rangers rallied for five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning in route to a 6-3 victory. Wilhelmsen retired the only hitter he faced in the top of the inning, getting Jonathan Schoop to ground into a double-play to end the Orioles threat.

Fantasy Impact: Two pitches equaled two outs for Wilhelmsen tonight, a far cry from his first two outings for the Rangers. Until he settles into an established role, his fantasy impact is minimal.

After being blasted by Seattle his last time out, Tom Wilhelmsen tossed 1 2/3 innings of scoreless relief in the Rangers 7-3 win over the Angels on Friday.

Fantasy Impact: Wilhelmsen allowed just one hit, but walked three batters in the short outing. Of the 29 pitches he threw, only 13 were strikes - not exactly a winning ratio.

It was a rude reunion for former Seattle Mariner Tom Wilhelmsen as the Rangers' new set up guy was touched for four hits, including two home runs, and five runs total by his former mates. Wilhelmsen did not record an out, and basically turned a close ballgame into a blowout.

Fantasy Impact: It was a miserable Rangers debut for Wilhelmsen, but one rough outing should not banish him from all fantasy rosters. He still is a potential closer should Shawn Tolleson fail or need help.

Tom Wilhelmsen picked up the win on Tuesday, pitching 1.2 scoreless innings versus the Astros.

Fantasy Impact: Wilhelmsen pitched well, allowing only one hit and a walk. The win may have been an annoyance to fantasy owners hoping for a save in the final week of the season.

Manager Lloyd McClendon said Wednesday that Wilhelmsen is his closer "as we speak" after a couple solid outings, replacing Carson Smith who has struggled mightily over the last month. (Source: Greg Johns on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Wilhelmsen served as the Mariners' full-time closer for much of 2012 and 2013, posting 53 saves over those two seasons and an ERA of 3.19. He has been a consistently decent reliever and if you are desperate for saves, he could come up with one or two a week. The lack of consistency from the Mariners or job security in general, however, should limit Wilhelmsen's value.

Tom Wilhelmsen was called upon in the ninth inning and did not disappoint recording three outs while allowing just one hit and striking out a batter, as the Mariners beat the Athletics 6-5. This was Wilhemsen's fourth save of the season.

Fantasy Impact: Wilhelmsen seems to have locked down the revolving door that is the Mariners closer role, for now. With failures Fernando Rodney and Carson Smith it is hard to justify owning Wilhelmsen due to lack of job security, but he is worth monitoring down the stretch in all leagues.
