Torii Hunter went 1-for-4 with a RBI in the 7-1 victory.

Fantasy Impact: The RBI was Hunter's 77th of the season. His value is harmed by the .242 batting average and his advanced age makes trusting him past this season in long term leagues tricky.

Torii Hunter with a HR Sunday

Mon, Sep 21st 4:51am EDT
By Jamie Mellor

Hunter went 2-for-4 with a solo HR on Sunday. The HR was his 21st of the season. He added another run scored in the game.

Fantasy Impact: He is not a top OF in fantasy but he has his games where he is productive. It is just difficult to predict those and the .247 batting average is not helpful.

The Twins beat the Chicago White Sox on Sunday 7-0. Torii Hunter drove in four of those runs, three of them with a home run in the first inning.

Fantasy Impact: Hunter has long been known for his power, but has been inconsistent over the last few years. He now has 19 home runs on the year, but is batting only .238. He is capable of much better, as his career batting average is .277.

The Twins are at home tonight to face ace Chris Sale and the White Sox. Game time is 8:10 p.m. (ET).

Fantasy Impact: You can't really rely too much on batter vs. pitcher splits in your fantasy game. Sure, Torii Hunter has a .275 lifetime average vs. Chris Sale in 40 at bats against the lefty, but the 40-year-old Hunter has been struggling at the plate hitting a mere .143 over the past two weeks. I wouldn't chance him now opposing the ace Sale.

The Twins again gave veteran OF Torii Hunter the night off Wednesday. It was the third game in the last week that Hunter sat out.

Fantasy Impact: Hunter surprised many with his start to the season, but he's largely struggled over the last two months. His issues at the plate, and the rest the team is given him, has mostly taken him out of fantasy relevance.

Torii Hunter will face Bryan Mitchell and the New York Yankees after getting the day off Sunday. The struggling Hunter will bat 6th in the Twins lineup at Yankee Stadium. Game time is 7:05 p.m. (ET).

Fantasy Impact: Torii Hunter is just 4 for his last 31 at bats hitting a dismal .111 in the month of August. Sit him on your bench and hopefully he will turn things around soon.

Hunter belted two home runs, hit for five RBI, and scored three times in the Twins weekend series against the Yankees.

Fantasy Impact: This was just the weekend Hunter needed. In his last six games prior to this series, Hunter was hitting an abysmal .125 in 24 at-bats with no home runs or RBI to show for it. Owners have to be encouraged by the recent surge in production. Look for Hunter to continue on his upward trend as the Twins host the Pittsburgh Pirates for a two-day series beginning Tuesday.

It's a 10:05 p.m. (ET) start for the Twins and the Angels in Anaheim tonight. Look for Torii Hunter, who celebrated his 40th birthday over the weekend, to be in right field. Hunter is now one of only nine players in the MLB that is 40 or older.

Fantasy Impact: Torii Hunter has been slumping as of late with just six hits in his last 30 at bats. Look for him to snap out of it, but, until then, give this 40-year-old a comfy spot on your bench.

Torii Hunter hit home run number 13 of the season as the Twins topped the Orioles 4-2 Monday night. Hunter's bomb came off of left-handed pitcher Wei-Yin Chen in the first inning. The Twins face off against the Orioles again tonight at Target Field. Game time is 8:10 p.m. (ET).

Fantasy Impact: Torii Hunter has struggled thus far in July, but has surpassed his home run mark set last season at this time. Look for Hunter to turn things around in the second half of the season. He may be on pace for 20 home runs this year.

Torii Hunter is only 2-for-13 in the month of July so far.

Fantasy Impact: This is probably just a cold spell in what will ultimately end up as a productive season barring injury. He is not elite but he is definitely the type of safe OF that works well at the bottom of a 5-OF setup.

Torii Hunter went 3 for 4 scoring three runs and knocking in two R.B.I. in a 5-2 Twins win over the Brewers Saturday. The Twins meet the Brewers for their next match Sunday at 2:10 p.m. (ET).

Fantasy Impact: Torii Hunter is hitting .333 with two homers and five extra base hits over the past seven games. Keep Hunter in your lineups as he continues this hot streak.

The Twins continue their home stint against Chicago, but this time it's the White Sox at Target Field after the Twins finished a series with the Cubs over the weekend. It will be John Danks against Tommy Milone tonight. Game time is 8:10 p.m. (ET).

Fantasy Impact: The Twins are ranked #3 in batting versus left-handed pitching and Torii Hunter has some history with John Danks. Hunter is .326 lifetime versus Danks in 52 at bats with 17 hits, 11 R.B.I. and four homers. So if you decide to stack some Twins in your daily lineups, don't forget Torii Hunter.

After getting ejected in Wednesday night's game for arguing balls and strikes and tossing his jersey and gear on to the field, Torii Hunter could face suspension from MLB. Prior to all that, Hunter and the Twins will face lefty Wandy Rodriguez in Texas tonight. Game time is 8:05 p.m. (ET). (Source: ESPN)

Fantasy Impact: After last night's heat, Torii Hunter may take out some aggression on the baseball tonight versus Wandy Rodriguez. Hunter is hitting .271 against south paws this season and could be a good filler option in daily lineups.

Torii Hunter strips down in protest

Fri, Jun 12th 12:19am EDT
By Matt Smith

Torri Hunter was ejected Wednesday after arguing balls and strikes with the home plate umpire. He removed and threw his elbow pad, batting gloves, and jersey before leaving the field. (Source: Fox Sports)

Fantasy Impact: Hunter has always had a temper and isn't one to keep quiet when he feels slighted. It's not his first ejection this year and it probably won't be his last, but his offensive resurgence more than makes up for the occasional flare up.

It will be Jason Vargas facing Phil Hughes tonight at Target Field. Game time is 8:10 p.m. (ET).

Fantasy Impact: Torii Hunter is batting .283 with 10 RBI over his last 46 at bats.Tonight he faces Jason Vargas who he has some history with. Hunter is hitting .333 with 16 hits in 48 appearances versus Vargas. Hunter could be a good play tonight in daily match-ups.

Torii Hunter went 3-for-5 Thursday against the Red Sox. He hit a three-run home run in the fifth inning and scored twice in the game.

Fantasy Impact: Hunter looks to have picked up in June where he left off in May, continuing to out perform his projections. His .282/.332/.463 slash line is more or less on par with expectations, with slugging a little higher than projected, but it seems that Hunter isn't hitting quite as many doubles and has increased his home run production. His .181 ISO is the highest since his .183 in 2010 when he hit 23 home runs for the Angels. He may be seeing the ball better or maybe just picking his spots more effectively, either way he needs to be active in fantasy lineups until he cools off.

It will be southpaw Eduardo Rodriguez on the mound for the Red Sox today facing the Twins, who lead the majors in hits versus left-handed pitching. Right fielder Torii Hunter will bat cleanup today for the Twins in this early 1:35 p.m. (ET) start.

Fantasy Impact: Torii Hunter has pretty good numbers against left-handed pitching this season posting a .297 B.A., 19 hits and 11 RBI in 64 at bats. He could be a good play in daily games, especially batting fourth.

The Twins have the home field against the Toronto Blue Jays tonight and lefty Mark Buehrle. Game time is 8:10. (Source: ESPN)

Fantasy Impact: Torii Hunter is no stranger to Mark Buehrle. In fact, he has faced the lefty 93 times in his career and holds a .247 batting average against the south paw. The Twins as a team, though, rank third best in batting average in the majors at .282 versus left-handed pitching this season (tied with Arizona). Torii Hunter, along with Joe Mauer and Trevor Plouffe are all worth a look tonight in daily match-ups tonight.

Torii Hunter knocks in two runs

Wed, May 27th 5:29pm EDT
By Matt Smith

Torii Hunter went 1-for-4 with a two-run single Wednesday against the Red Sox.

Fantasy Impact: Hunter has turned back the clock in the month of May, hitting .341 with six home runs and 22 RBI for the month. The Twins have more or less locked him in as their two-hitter, so Hunter should get the lion's share of ABs this season. At this point he must be viewed as a viable fantasy OF until he proves otherwise.

Torii Hunter went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in the second inning Saturday against the White Sox.

Fantasy Impact: This was Hunter's seventh home run of the season as he continues to impress in the twilight of his career. He's on pace for his highest home run total since he went deep 28 times in 2007. He hasn't cleared more than 20 in a season since 2011.

Torii Hunter has three-RBI night

Thu, May 21st 1:07am EDT
By Matt Smith

Torii Hunter went 3-for-5 with a walk and three RBI Wednesday against the Pirates. All three runs were knocked in on a bases clearing double in the first inning.

Fantasy Impact: Hunter has had a very nice start to the season and was able reach base four times in this game. He is hitting .282/.329/.465 with six home runs, 24 RBI, and 21 runs.

Category: , Game Recaps

Torii Hunter went 1-for-3 with a home run and two walks Wednesday against the Tigers. The HR was Hunter's sixth this season, but already his fifth in May.

Fantasy Impact: Hunter seems to have turned back the clock. In April, you pretty much got what you expected out of him, but he's been arguably one of the best hitters in the league two weeks into May. Over the last 12 games, Hunter is hitting .396 with five HR, 14 RBI and 14 runs. At 39, he isn't a threat to steal many bases, but he has certainly hit his stride and should be picked up if available. Ride the hot streak until the wheels fall off...assuming they do.

Torii Hunter just misses cycle

Sat, May 9th 1:37pm EDT
By Matt Smith

Torii Hunter went 4-for-4 with four RBI and two runs scored Friday against the Indians. He finished a triple short of the cycle and walked once.

Fantasy Impact: Hunter hit two doubles to go along with his fourth home run of the season, and at age 39, continues to produce for the Twins. His slash line is now .280/.322/.458 which is almost identical to his season totals with Detroit in 2014. He'll be 40 in July, but isn't showing any signs of slowing down at the moment.

Torii Hunter is not listed in the Minnesota Twins starting lineup on Sunday against Seattle (Source: LaVElle Neal On Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: This is not surprising, given that it is a day game after a night game. Another reason is that Hunter has been in a slump lately, going .233/.277/.350 with 10 strikeouts.

Torii Hunter Held Hitless in Loss

Sat, Apr 25th 12:39am EDT
By Steve Larson

Torii Hunter went hitless in four at bats with two strikeouts on Friday night against Seattle ace Felix Hernandez.

Fantasy Impact: The night drops Hunter's season average to .232, with nine strikeouts on the season. This should be looked at as just an off night against one of the best pitchers in the league. Hunter should rebound this weekend when he faces James Paxton and Hisashi Iwakuma, who both have ERA's above 6.00.

Category: , Game Recaps

Torii Hunter hit his first regular seson home run as a Twin since 2007 in the sixth inning of the Twins win over Cleveland.

Fantasy Impact: Hunter has been struggling so far, only hitting .225, but said after the game that he feels good about his swing. This is good news for Twins fans and fantasy players as he is going to be a integral part of the Twins this season.

Category: , Game Recaps

Torii Hunter hit his first home run for the Twins since he left the team in 2007 on Tuesday against Toronto. The home run gave the Twins the lead 4-1.

Fantasy Impact: Hunter was signed over the winter for one year and $10 million presumably to mentor the exciting group of young outfielders the Twins have in the minor leagues. He has never been known for his power, but he is capable of going deep.

Category: , Game Recaps

Torii Hunter signed a one-year contract with the Minnesota Twins worth $10.5 million. (Source: Fox Sports)

Fantasy Impact: The 39-year old veteran outfielder will return to the Twins, who originally drafted him two decades ago. Hunter will provide a much needed boost to the Twins lineup. The Twins have a young lineup with breakthrough players like Brian Dozier, Danny Santana, and Kennys Vargas; although he won't have the same opportunities as with Detroit, he will still have run producing opportunities in the middle of the lineup. Hunter was very consistent last season with the Tigers, slashing a respectable .286/.319/.446 with 17 HR, 83 RBI, and 4 SB and will bring a nearly .800 OPS over the past five years to Minnesota.
