Tyler Heineman went 2-for-3 with two singles as the Giants fell to the Dodgers 8-1 on Thursday.
He also plated the team's lone run of the game. Heineman got the Opening Night nod after Buster Posey opted out of the 2020 season. He doesn't have much fantasy value in a weak lineup. Additionally, top prospect Joey Bart will likely take over at some point this year.
Tyler Heineman has signed a minor league contract with the San Francisco Giants, after being outrighted by the Marlins back in October. He will look to fill the back-up role to Buster Posey once the season starts.
Heineman only has 12 trips to the plate in his career at the major-league level, but has shown an aptitude for getting on base and avoiding strikeouts. In 1,004 PAs in Triple-A, the 28-year-old slashed .287/.353/.430. If Posey were to miss time, Heineman could be an interesting option in deeper OBP leagues or two-catcher formats.
