Tyler Soderstrom joins A's MLB camp

Oakland A's prospect Tyler Soderstrom has been invited to MLB spring training.

Fantasy Impact

Soderstrom, the A's No.1 ranked prospect in 2022, split the 2022 season between three minor-league levels, reaching Triple-A for nine games to finish his season. The catcher/first baseman hit 29 home runs across 124 minor-league contests a season ago, finishing with a .297 average and .721 OPS in those nine Triple-A contests. He's a solid bet to make his MLB debut in 2023 but should start the season back at Triple-A.

Tyler Soderstrom homers twice on Thursday

A's catching prospect Tyler Soderstrom went 3-for-4 with two homers in Low-A on Thursday.

Fantasy Impact

The 2020 first-rounder now has back-to-back three-hit games. A lefty-swinging backstop, Soderstrom is hitting a strong .317/.412/.548 in his first year as a professional. The 19-year-old is considered an offensive catcher who will need to keep working on his defense to stick at the position long-term.

Tyler Soderstrom added to the Athletics’ player pool

C Tyler Soderstrom has been added to Athletics’ player pool for the 2020 season.

Fantasy Impact

Soderstrom was selected 26th overall by the Athletics in the 2020 MLB Draft, and recently signed with Oakland for $3.3 million. He will be in camp and will have a chance to get some work in for spring training 2.0. Soderstrom is a “bat first” catcher and could possibly switch positions in the near future. The 18-year-old should only be considered in dynasty-league formats.

Tyler Soderstrom selected No. 26 by Oakland Athletics

The Oakland Athletics have selected Turlock (Calif.) HS C Tyler Soderstrom with the No. 26 overall pick in the 2020 MLB Draft.

Fantasy Impact

Soderstrom is yet another "bat-first" catcher to come out of this draft. Many think he'll eventually have to move to third base or a corner outfield spot, but the bat is certainly considered advanced for a prep player.
