SS - Boston Red Sox
The Braves have traded INF Vaughn Grissom to the Red Sox in exchange for SP Chris Sale.
Grissom appeared in 23 games last year for the Braves, slashing .280/.313/.347. His Triple-A numbers are encouraging for potential with regular at-bats, which he will presumably get at 2B/SS for Boston. Until he proves this, however, he is best left on waivers in all but the deepest leagues.
Braves manager Brian Snitker said Vaughn Grissom will start playing left field in Puerto Rico this week.
"He wants to go do that, and the versatility and what he’s got going on – we all know the kid can hit," Snitker said. "So it’ll be interesting. It’ll be nice to see him (in P.R.) running around the outfield.” Grissom is expected to compete for playing time in left field with recently acquired Jarred Kelenic.
Vaughn Grissom has been recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett.
Grissom's call-up is a result of Ozzie Albies heading to the IL. He will likely split time at second base with Nicky Lopez. He was hitting .327 with a .906 OPS in the minor leagues this season.
Vaughn Grissom has been optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett.
Grissom will head back down to the minors following the activation of Orlando Arcia. The 22-year-old will get a chance to play everyday in the minors, but will likely see time in the majors again at some point this season. He hit .277 with a 71 wRC+ in 70 plate appearances.
Vaughn Grissom is out of the lineup for the Atlanta Braves against the Baltimore Orioles Friday night.
Grissom will receive Friday night off for rest, with Braden Shewmake making his debut at shortstop and batting ninth for manager Brian Snitker.
