Eligibility
Washington Nationals outfielder Victor Robles will participate in baseball activities Monday and could return to the lineup as a starter on Tuesday.
Fantasy Impact
Robles suffered a knee bruise after crashing into the center field wall in a Grapefruit League contest against the Tigers on March 8. The 25-year-old brings plenty of value to the table with his glove, however, he's coming off the worst season of his career at the plate and has been at least 32% below league average in each of the last three seasons offensively as per wRC+. If he can't turn it around at the plate Robles could lose some playing time to Lane Thomas in center field this season.
Victor Robles (knee) will be getting an ultrasound done on Thursday.
Fantasy Impact
Robles left Wednesday's game early after banging his knee into the outfield wall. He is considered day-to-day for now, but more information should come sooner than later as to the severity of the injury.
Washington Nationals outfielder Victor Robles left Wednesday's Grapefruit League game early with a knee contusion following a collision with the wall.
Fantasy Impact
Robles got injured while making a terrific catch on a Spencer Torkelson drive to center field and needed a cart to get him off the field. It's tough news for Robles as he enters a crucial 2023 season. Once a top prospect, the 25-year-old has struggled to put it together at the plate with a career .233 batting average with 31 homers and a .665 OPS across 480 big-league contests. His 64 wRC+ from the 2022 season is the worst of his career and placed his bat 36% below the league average but at 25 Robles still has time to find his swing to complement an excellent glove in center field.
The Washington Nationals and outfielder Victor Robles have agreed on a contract for 2023 and have avoided arbitration.
Fantasy Impact
Terms of the contract were not disclosed, as per usual with the Nationals. A former top prospect, Robles has been unable to put it together at the big league level, at least with his bat. The 25-year-old is a career .233 hitter with 31 home runs and 58 stolen bases across 480 appearances. He's struggled mightily over the last three seasons as his 66 wRC+ ranks 331st of 342 players with at least 500 plate appearances in that time.
Victor Robles went 1-for-3 Tuesday, hitting a solo home run in the Nationals' 8-2 loss to the Braves.
Fantasy Impact
Robles has picked up hits in four of his last seven games for the Nationals, scoring one run and driving in one run in that span. The outfielder has struggled to find any sort of consistency at the plate this season, hitting .227 with 15 stolen bases, 42 runs scored, six home runs, and 32 runs batted in through 126 games this season.
