Victor Vodnik pitched around a pair of singles in the top of the ninth on Sunday to secure his first save of the season in Colorado's 4-1 victory over Philadelphia.

Vodnik saved 10 games for the Rockies last season and was named the closer to start the 2026 campaign despite struggling to a 14.40 ERA in the spring. Vodnik may have been on a short leash to begin with and Sunday's outing did not help. Jimmy Herget and/or Juan Mejia would likely be next in line for saves in Colorado.

Vodnik posted a 3.02 ERA with 10 saves and a 49:26 K:BB across 50.2 innings for Colorado last season. He allowed eight runs on 11 hits with a 5:5 K:BB over 4.2 Cactus League innings this spring before recording a save Monday by striking out the only batter he faced against the Tigers.

Manager Warren Schaeffer indicated after Monday's game that Vodnik could be first in line for closing duties, saying "we're gonna see a lot of that this year late in the game."
