Diamondbacks considering Will Venable

The Diamondbacks are considering Will Venable , among others, as a replacement option for the injured A.J. Pollock. Bourn was released by the Indians recently.

Fantasy Impact

Venable could become more interesting if given significant playing time, but he's not going to replace Pollock. Even if he's signed he'll more likely only be initially relevant in deeper leagues or DFS.

Two hits, two runs and two SB for Will Venable

OF Will Venable went 2-for-2 with two runs and two stolen bases in Saturday's Cactus League win over the Cubs.

Fantasy Impact

This was the 33-year-old's best game for the Indians as he pushes for a spot on the Opening Day roster. It was as recently as 2013 that Will Venable went 20-20 and he could still offer value if he secures a spot on the bench. He started 2015 brightly with a 108 wRC+ in the first half but slumped to just 56 wRC+ in the second half.

Indians sign Will Venable to minor league deal

The Indians signed OF Will Venable to a minor league contract with a Spring Training invite.

Fantasy Impact

The 33-year-old will join the ever increasing list of outfielders vying for a job in Cleveland. Will Venable went 20/20 as recently as 2013 but slumped down to a 87 wRC+ player last year, with six HR and 16 SB in 390 PA split between the Rangers and the Padres. The Indians have an obvious need in the outfield, especially with the uncertain status of Michael Brantley. If Venable impresses during Spring Training he could be a sneaky source of steals.

Will Venable drives in winning run

Will Venable, playing just his second game in a Texas uniform, doubled home Elvis Andrus and that was all Colby Lewis would need as the Rangers shut out Detroit 2-0. It was Venable's first hit as a member of the Rangers, and it came after a nine pitch battle with Justin Verlander.

Fantasy Impact

The Rangers seemed to have a multitude of outfielders at the start of the season, but between trades (Jake Smolinski), injuries (Josh Hamilton) and demotions (Ryan Rua), the acquisition of Venable became necessary. The veteran was hitting .258 with six home runs and 30 RBI in 98 games for the San Diego Padres before being acquired by Texas.

Will Venable is now a Ranger

The San Diego Padres traded Will Venable to the Texas Rangers for a minor leaguer and a player to be named later.

Fantasy Impact

He goes from a crowded OF in SD to one dealing with injuries in Texas. He will have to earn his way with a new team. I do not know what will happen but I wish him luck. I also wish the Texas Rangers' writer luck trying to figure him out on a weekly basis.
