Both Calhoun and Jake Bauers took Guardians ace Shane Bieber deep in the fifth inning while Calhoun collected a game-tying single in the ninth to set up a walk-off Yankees win one inning later. It was a miserable start to the season for the former top prospect but Calhoun now has three hits, two homers, and three RBI over his last two games. He's getting his chance with a pair of outfielders in Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton currently on the injured list.

Signed to a minors deal this winter, the former top prospect is 2-for-9 with a double in just two games this season and will take on Twins right-hander Joe Ryan on Thursday.

He split the 2022 campaign between the Rangers and Giants, hitting just .135 with one home runs across 62 trips to the plate.

The 27-year-old is originally from Vallejo, California, and has not played in the majors since April 29. Calhoun has played for the Rangers his entire career, slashing .241/.407/.707 with 32 home runs and 103 RBI. Fantasy managers who just lost OF Luis Gonzalez to injury should keep an eye on how the Giants deploy Calhoun, though be ready to absorb his horrible batting average if you pick him up.

Calhoun, who had expressed a desire to be traded, could have elected free agency instead of accepting his assignment to Triple-A. But doing so would have meant forfeiting the pro-rated remainder of his 2022 contract, so he opted to stay. It's unlikely he sees a promotion to the majors this year unless he's traded so he's most likely won't have any fantasy relevance in the near future.
