Cleveland Guardians right-hander Zach Plesac allowed two runs over six innings in a 5-4 loss to the Reds on Tuesday.
Plesac struck out three and walked two in the outing, a no-decision for the 27-year-old. He did a good job limiting damage as the Reds only managed runs on a solo homer and an RBI single. Plesac now has a 1-3 record, 4.42 ERA, 1.34 WHIP, and 23 strikeouts over 38 2/3 innings of work. He is lined up to face the Astros on Monday.

Plesac got off to a rough start, allowing four runs in the first inning. He calmed down after that, giving up just one more unearned run in the seventh. He seemed destined to take the loss before a game-tying grand slam in the ninth inning got him off the hook. Plesac struck out four and walked four while seeing his record fall to 1-3. The 27-year-old struggled with his control in the outing, throwing just 52 of 88 pitches for strikes wth the big blow coming in the form of a Manny Machado two-run homer in the third inning. Plesac will take a 4.44 ERA, 1.41 WHIP, and 16 strikeouts into his next start.

Plesac got off to a shaky start, allowing two runs in the first inning. He compounded the problem by allowing Taylor Ward to hit a grand slam in the second. Plesac had been pitching well in 2022 up until Wednesday's loss. He now has a 1-2 record, 3.80 ERA, 1.31 WHIP, and 12 strikeouts in 21 1/3 innings of work. He will look to bounce back next time out when he goes up against the Padres on Tuesday.
