Bender opened the ninth inning strong by getting Aaron Judge to ground out, but he then issued back-to-back walks and surrendered a two-out double to Jazz Chisholm Jr. that cut the deficit to one run. However, Bender bounced back by striking out J.C. Escarra to secure the win. He received the save opportunity with Pete Fairbanks serving as the opener on Sunday, so he could leave early to join his wife for the birth of their fourth child.
