Austin Martin shut down with UCL sprain
Minnesota Twins prospect Austin Martin has been shut down from throwing and hitting due to a UCL sprain.
It's a scary revelation for the Twins as this is the type of injury that precedes Tommy John surgery. While we're not there yet, Martin will be shut down from both hitting and throwing for the time being until the club gets more clarity on the ailment. The 2020 fifth-overall pick largely struggled at Double-A in 2022, hitting just .241 with two homers and a .682 OPS across 90 games. While he stole 34 bases in that time, the lack of overall production combined with this new injury is wearing the shine off Martin's prospect status.
