Expert NoteView More Notes
Cody Allen has quietly been one of the top closers in baseball over the past three years, with 91, 99 and 87 Ks in those seasons with a sub 3.00 ERA in each. The only reason he isn't commonly recognized as such is because of save opportunities, which should see positive regression this season.

Cody Allen had saves on three consecutive days last week
Cody Allen has converted all three of his save attempts this month and has won a game as well. Allen is 27-for-30 in save opportunities this season and has a 2.70 ERA.
More impressively than the fact that Allen is 3-for-3 in save opportunities is that he has pitched five scoreless innings, allowing only one hit and striking out eight batters this month. He is still in a loose closer-by-committee situation with Andrew Miller, but Allen gets the majority of the save opportunities.
