C - NYY
Expert NoteView More Notes
There isn't a lot of positive things to say about Sanchez other than that this is easily the cheapest he has ever been as a fantasy baseball player. He hit 34 homers back in 2019, which is an achievement perhaps no other catcher can be expected to match this year. He's going late enough in drafts that there isn't much downside to taking him. I'd rather risk it with Sanchez (and play the waiver wire if he doesn't work out) than draft one of the first few backstops where the opportunity cost for other positions is much higher.

Gary Sanchez gets one-year, $6.35 million deal from New York
Gary Sanchez agreed to a one-year, $6.35 million deal with the Yankees to avoid arbitration.
Sanchez gets a salary bump despite hitting below the Mendoza line in 2020. He had a forgettable season, slashing miserable season at the dish in 2020, slashing 147/.253/.365 with 10 dingers and 24 RBI over 156 at-bats. He's a polarizing player in fantasy baseball but he has the most power upside of any catcher on the market.
