Justin Miller grabs save for Cardinals with Reyes, Gallegos unavailable
Veteran right-hander Justin Miller was called upon to record the final two outs in a 6-5 win over the Giants on Tuesday night, picking up his first save of the season.
Miller was making only his second appearance with St. Louis after being claimed off waivers from the Nationals last week. With closer Alex Reyes and set-up man Giovanny Gallegos unavailable, Miller got the call with the Cardinals in some serious trouble in the ninth inning after Genesis Cabrera had put men on the corners with only one out. However, Miller induced a pop-up from Chadwick Tromp before Dylan Carlson made a terrific leaping catch at the wall in left field to rob Jason Vosler of a game-tying hit and end the game. Miller escaped with the save but likely won't see many more save chances moving forward.
