Kyle Wright implodes in first inning, takes loss on Wednesday
Kyle Wright completely fell apart on Wednesday, taking the loss, as he allowed seven runs on five hits with two walks over just 2/3 of an inning in the Braves 15-3 loss to the Dodgers in Game 3 of the NLCS.
As evidenced by the box score, Wright was in trouble from the very start as he personally allowed six runs, including back-to-back long balls to Joc Pederson and Edwin Rios. He walked the final batter he faced before being replaced by Grant Dayton, who subsequently gave up a grand slam to finally close the book on Wright. When the dust finally settled the Dodgers scored an MLB-record 11 runs in the first inning. On the bright side, Wright didn't expend too much energy as he only threw 28 pitches. He should be available to pitch later in the series, if necessary.
