The Cleveland Guardians have traded outfielder Will Benson to the Cincinnati Reds in exchange for outfield prospect Justin Boyd and a player to be named later or cash.
Fantasy Impact
While Boyd reached the Single-A level as a 21-year-old in 2022, Benson has already made his debut at the big-league level. The 24-year-old got into 28 games with the Guardians last season but struggled to a .182 average with zero homers and a 31.1% K% across 61 trips to the plate. He raked at the Triple-A level, however, with 17 home runs, 16 stolen bases, and a .948 OPS across 89 games. Benson figures to at least get a look at center field and right field at some point with the rebuilding Reds in 2023.
