Zac Gallen went five innings and allowed three runs on eight hits as the Diamondbacks came from behind to defeat the Phillies, 4-3, on Sunday. The righthander walked one and struck out two.
Fantasy Impact
Gallen was in complete control until disaster struck in the sixth as he gave up three runs on five consecutive hits without recording an out. Jonathan Loaisiga came on in relief and retired the next three batters with runners at the corners to prevent further damage. Through five innings, Gallen had allowed just three hits and a walk, facing two batters over the minimum. But, in the sixth, he allowed a double to Justin Crawford, a home run to Trea Turner, back-to-back doubles to Kyle Schwarber and Bryce Harper, and a single to Brandon Marsh as the Phillies erased a 2-0 deficit. The veteran is 1-1 on the season with a respectable 3.60 ERA. However, his 1.45 WHIP and his 11:7 K:BB ratio suggest that he has been a little lucky. Gallen is currently lined up to take on the Blue Jays on Saturday in his next outing.
