The Warriors are interested in trading away their 28th overall pick in Thursday’s NBA Draft and are currently shopping for offers as reported by Erin Walsh of BleacherReport.com. (Erin Walsh, Bleacher Report)
Fantasy Impact:
Golden State is trying to unload this pick for multiple reasons. The biggest reason is they already have a “hefty payroll” ($171 million committed for 2022-23, well over what is projected to be a $149 million luxury tax threshold) and do not want to take on the guaranteed contract of a first round pick for the next two seasons. The team also wants to integrate young bucks like James Wiseman, Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody into their rotation for next season as well. If they are unable to trade out of the first round by the time their pick comes up on Thursday they may end up taking an international “draft and stash” player.
