Ben Simmons (back) shut down for rest of season

Ben Simmons' season is finished, as the enigmatic Nets forward is officially being shut down for the rest of the season, according to The Athletic's Shams Charania. Jacque Vaughn was candid saying that he did not expect him to even travel with the team the rest of the season. (The Athletic)

Fantasy Impact:

Simmons has been dealing with a nerve impingement in his back. Amid the Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving trades, the writing was on the wall that this was a very possible scenario. Despite looking at a potential playoff berth, the Nets are being realistic at their chances at making a deep run and making a wise decision. There is no reason to rush him back considering his injury history. However, at this point fantasy managers have to reevaluate whether or not he's worth taking a look at next season. Simmons will have missed 64 games in the last two seasons combined.
