Alec Burks gets aggressive in win over the Hornets
by Joel E. Ruffin Jr. | Sat, Oct 28th 5:09pm EDT
Alec Burks totaled 24 points (5-10 FG, 3-7 3PT, 11-12 FT), four rebounds, two assists, one steal, and one block in the Pistons’ 111-99 win over the Hornets.
Fantasy Impact:
Burks got aggressive in the Pistons’ win over the Hornets, finding himself taking frequent trips to the “charity stripe,” twelve to be exact, which certainly appears to be an outlier given his previous body of work in previous seasons. The twelve-year vet found some success in 51.0 games with the Pistons last year and should be poised to build on that momentum in this new-look Pistons squad. If Coach Monty Williams can get out of Burks what we know he can get out of his players, we could be looking at him leading a “second” starting rotation this season. His experience and subtle approach to the game could be an excellent addition to this new-look Pistons squad, and with new consistent direction and role identity, he could turn back the pages of time while playing for a team with a new found hunger for success. Last season, Burks averaged 22.0 minutes of playing time, 12.8 points, 3.1 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 0.7 steals, and 0.2 blocks per game while shooting 43.6 percent from the floor and 41.4 percent from beyond the arc. He is a worthwhile acquisition in deep-league formats, and certainly in play in daily formats as a cost-effective value asset for your lineups.
