Cade Cunningham totaled 30 points (11-27 FG, 5-9 3PT, 3-3 FT), five rebounds, four assists, and one steal in the Pistons’ 110-101 loss to the Trail Blazers.

Fantasy Impact:

Cunningham scored 30.0 points in the Pistons’ loss to the Trail Blazers, making this performance the second time he has accomplished this feat. He is a must-starter and must-roster asset in most fantasy formats; however, he could be more matchup-dependent than you would think, which could limit his production across several categories. It could be worth noting that in each of his games with 30.0 points, he is averaging twenty-seven and nine shot attempts from the floor and from beyond the arc respectively. This is close to almost double the number of attempts he had in his other three games, where he averaged fifteen and five attempts from the floor and from beyond the arc respectively. In looking at his game logs across his first two seasons, it appears that the volume in his two thirty-point games this year leans more towards being an outlier, as he had a combined one game where he had at least twenty-seven field goal attempts and thirteen with at least nine three-pointer attempts. Even though you are starting Cunningham in most, if not all, season-long leagues if you have him, there is a chance he could be better leveraged as a pragmatic positional play given the matchup than an all-around producer, as his production can vary substantially from game to game depending on how offensively aggressive he is in that contest. This could also alter his attractiveness for GPP tournaments, given the somewhat demonstrated inconsistency in his ability to play towards his ceiling. So far this season, Cunningham has averaged 34.5 minutes, 22.8 points, 3.2 rebounds, 6.8 assists, 0.6 steals, and 0.2 blocks per game while shooting 41.6 percent from the floor and 44.1 percent from beyond the arc.
