Blake Griffin (knee) feels Fri, Aug 14th 11:02am EDT By Alex Burns DET During his media teleconference on Thursday, Pistons star Blake Griffin told reporters that he feels "a world of difference" in his knee compared to January. He mentioned that his strength is way up and that he feels more explosive. (Source: Omari Sankofa on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: The six-time NBA All-Star only played in 18 games during the 2019-2020 season before being shut down to undergo a season-ending procedure on his knee back in January. For a player that relies on athleticism as much as Griffin does, it's really encouraging to hear that he feels stronger and more explosive since the surgery. His contract ties him to Detroit through the 2021-2020 season and although the Pistons are entering rebuild mode, Griffin should still receive plenty of opportunity to produce when on the court. The 31-year-old forward hobbled his way to 15.5 points, 4.7 rebounds and 3.3 assists across 18 games this season before being shutdown.

Marc Stein is reporting on Twitter that the Brooklyn Nets are signing forward Donta Hall for the remainder of the 2019-2020 NBA season. (Source: Marc Stein on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: After coming to terms with Jamal Crawford and Michael Beasley on Wednesday, the short-handed Nets had one more spot to fill before play resumes later this month in Orlando. Hall, who went undrafted in 2019, spent most of the season in the G-league before signing a 10-day contract with the Pistons in late February. Although he only appeared in four games with Detroit before the NBA season was suspended, Hall was impressive during his time in the G-League. Through 38 games with the Grand Rapids Drive, the Alabama product put up 15.4 points, 10.5 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game while shooting 66 percent from the field. He figures to add some depth behind Jarett Allen and newly acquired forward Michael Beasley while in Orlando.

Luke Kennard hasn't had any setbacks and said both knees are "100 percent." (Source: Detroit Free Press)

Fantasy Impact: Kennard has been sidelined since December 21st due to a patellar tendinitis in both knees. "My knees are 100%," said Kennard. I think everybody deals with something. At the time when everything was going on, I just needed to make sure what I was doing was right for me and the team, just to make sure I was healthy. We came up with a plan, and the plan is good. It’s been working so far." The 23-year-old averaged 15.8 points, 3.5 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 2.6 triples across 15 games this year. Kennard will become a free agent this summer and was reportedly looking to land an eight-figure deal.

Bruce Brown Jr. underwent surgery in late April to repair a ligament in his right thumb. He will be ready to go if the NBA season resumes. (Source: Keith Langlois on Twitter )

Fantasy Impact: Brown had a lingering thumb injury injury in February and underwent surgery in April to correct the issue. It's not clear when Brown sustained the injury, but he should be all systems go if the season resumes. Luke Kennard is also on track to return, Brown could play more minutes at shooting guard. The 23-year-old is averaged 8.9 points, 4.7 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 1.1 steals and 0.6 triples across 58 games this season.

Pistons F/C Christian Wood is set to become a free agent after the summer, and according to the Athletic, there’s about a 70% chance he remains in Detroit. (Source: The Athletic)

Fantasy Impact: Wood provided NBA teams with a glimpse of what he was capable of in eight games with the Pelicans in 2018. He averaged 16.9 points and 7.9 rebounds in just 23 minutes per game. Detroit signed him in the off-season, and before the season was suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Wood was making a run at the “Most Improved Player” award. In 62 games, he was averaging 13.1 points, 6.3 rebounds, one assist, and 0.9 blocks in just 21 minutes per game. But those numbers skyrocketed even more after the All-Star break, after the Pistons traded long-time C Andre Drummond to the Cavaliers. Since the All-Star break, Wood averaged 24 points and almost 10 boards per game. The thought here is that Detroit could make Wood a cornerstone of the team’s future, and that “Wood shows his appreciation to the franchise that gave him his first real opportunity.” He’ll be a hot commodity next year in fantasy leagues as a big man that can produce in multiple categories.

Svi Mykhailiuk scored 16 points (4-13 FG, 3-9 3PT, 5-5 FT), four assists, two rebounds and two steals across 24 minutes during the Pistons' 106-124 loss to the 76ers on Wednesday.

Fantasy Impact: The Kansas product provided a nice spark for the Pistons on Wednesday and his 16 points were second on the team behind Christian Wood's 32 points. Mykhailiuk has struggled with his shot during the month of March, shooting only 32.5 percent from the field and is not recommended outside of deeper leagues.

Thon Maker provided 13 points (5-9 FG, 2-4 3PT, 1-2 FT), three rebounds, one assist and one block across 17 minutes during the Pistons' 106-124 loss the 76ers on Wednesday.

Fantasy Impact: Although he started and was great on a per minute basis, the four-year big-man only saw 17 minutes during Wednesday's loss. His production and playing time has fluctuated immensely due to Dwane Casey playing with the rotation. Only averaging 2.7 points per game while only seeing 16.3 minutes per game in March, Maker is not a recommended fantasy option.

Brandon Knight chipped in six points (1-7 FG, 1-6 3PT, 3-5 FT), six assists and five rebounds across 34 minutes during the Pistons' 106-124 loss to the 76ers on Wednesday.

Fantasy Impact: After sitting out of Sunday's game with a knee injury, Knight reentered the starting lineup and saw 34 minutes in Wednesday's game against the 76ers. Although he struggled with his shot, the eight-year guard was able to contribute in some other categories, finishing with six assists and five rebounds. Due to his shooting ability and Derrick Rose (ankle) missing time with an ankle injury, Knight should be given every opportunity to produce as long as he can remain healthy.

Jordan McRae went for 10 points (4-13 FG, 0-3 3PT, 2-2 FT), seven rebounds and three assists across 27 minutes off the bench during the Pistons' 106-124 loss to the 76ers on Wednesday.

Fantasy Impact: McRae was awarded some extra playing time due to Bruce Brown Jr. (ankle) sitting Wednesday's game out. He has scored in double figures in three out of four games since being acquired by the Pistons at the deadline last month and will look to continue providing a spark off the bench. He is only recommended in deeper leagues due to his ability to go off every once in a while but struggles to be consistent from a fantasy perspective.

Langston Galloway put up 13 points (6-12 FG, 1-4 3PT), three assists, two rebounds and one steal across 28 minutes off the bench during the Pistons' 106-124 loss to the 76ers on Wednesday.

Fantasy Impact: Galloway provided a nice spark off the bench for the Pistons on Wednesday as he was rewarded some extra minutes due to Bruce Brown Jr. (ankle) sitting out. Although he is rather inconsistent with his production, he is typically good for 10 points and two three's per game, though the addition of Jordan McRae has further crowded the shooting guard spot for the Pistons.

Sekou Doumbouya mustered up two points (1-4 FG, 0-1 3PT), two assists and one rebound across 23 minutes off the bench during the Pistons' 106-124 loss to the 76ers on Wednesday.

Fantasy Impact: Although he saw more minutes than he had in the previous seven games, the rookie was largely ineffective once again. It's becoming clear that the Pistons view him as more of a project that a consistent contributor in the rotation currently and depending on what happens to the NBA season, it's very possible he could see some time in the G-league to develop.

Tony Snell collected nine points (3-5 FG, 0-1 3PT, 3-3 FT), three assists, one rebound and three steals across 28 minutes during the Pistons' 106-124 loss to the 76ers on Wednesday.

Fantasy Impact: Snell's production on Wednesday fell right in line with his season average. He continues to start for the Pistons but doesn't contribute enough in any category to warrant any fantasy consideration.

John Henson put up 10 points (5-7 FG), five rebounds, one assist and one block in 20 minutes during the Pistons' 107-114 loss to the Thunder on Wednesday.

Fantasy Impact: Although Henson started for the fourth consecutive game, he once again saw his playing time cut short at around 20 minutes. He has put up exactly 10 points and five rebounds in his last two games but it will be hard to trust the UNC product in fantasy if he continues seeing only 20 minutes a night. Henson and the Pistons get the Jazz on Saturday night.

Derrick Rose will miss several weeks after injuring his ankle during Sunday’s loss to Sacramento. (Source: Chris Haynes on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: The results of the MRI came back negative, however Rose is still expected to miss multiple weeks, and be re-evaluated at that point in time. Brandon Knight (knee) would be in line for the starting point guard role in Detroit, but he is also banged up. Detroit is extremely thin at the guard position with Rose out, so look for a guy like Derrick Walton Jr. to potentially step up in his absence. Hopefully Bruce Brown Jr. (knee) can return to the court soon and once he does, he should be rostered in most leagues as he was producing in good minutes before he was sidelined. Those with an available IR roster spot will want to hold on to Rose for the next few weeks to see the direction the Pistons decide to go at that point.

In a 115-98 loss to the Nuggets, Khyri Thomas had three points (1-4 FG, 1-3 3PT), one assist, and one turnover across 14 minutes on the floor.

Fantasy Impact: Thomas played sparingly in his latest contest and just doesn't have any fantasy value to speak of right now. He's best left in all fantasy leagues' free agents pools.

Category: Game Recaps

In a 115-98 loss to the Nuggets on Tuesday, Derrick Walton Jr. scored no points (0-1 FG, 0-1 3PT), (4-9 FG, 4-9 3PT, 2-4 FT), dished out one assist, and had one steal in only six minutes.

Fantasy Impact: Walton Jr.'s minutes are very minimal for his squad, so he simply doesn't have any fantasy value whatsoever. He should be left in all fantasy leagues' free agent pools.

Markieff Morris is expected to sign with the Lakers. (Source: Shams Charania on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Morris reached a buyout with the Pistons and is expected to sign with the Lakers. He will most likely come off the bench and backup starter Anthony Davis. With the move to LA, Morris becomes a fringe deep-league option at best. He averaged 11 points, 3.9 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.7 triples across 44 games for the Pistons this season.

Reggie Jackson and the Detroit Pistons agreed to a contract buyout and Jackson will sign with the Los Angeles Clippers once he clears waivers. (Source: Adrian Wojnarowski on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: This is a major impact to Jackson's fantasy outlook for the remainder of the season as he will now be relegated to a bench role with the Clippers. Over 14 games this season, Jackson is averaging 14.9 points, 5.1 assists, and 2.9 rebounds in 27.2 minutes per game.

Andre Drummond is going to Cleveland and Brandon Knight, John Henson and a second-round pick are coming back to Detroit. (Source: James Edwards III on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: As expected, the Pistons are moving on from their superstar center. Drummond and the Cavaliers' current center Tristan Thompson should be able to co-exist offensively together in Cleveland as they play different styles of center. However, this move could potentially hurt Drummond's rebounding totals as he will be sharing missed shot opportunities with the big-bodied Thompson and savvy veteran Kevin Love. The team's next matchup is Sunday against the Clippers and we should get a better idea of lineups and usage after that.

Tim Frazier didn’t take the court in the Pistons’ 115-100 loss to the Cavs on Monday.

Fantasy Impact: Despite the absence of Derrick Rose, Frazier didn't take the court Monday, and it appears he's fallen out of Detroit's rotation. With just 15 total minutes across the Pistons' last five games, Frazier has no business being rostered in even the deepest of redraft leagues.
