Detroit Pistons

Eastern Central

Blake Griffin provided five points (1-9 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 3-4 FT), four rebounds, one assist and a steal across 34 minutes in the Pistons’ 105-103 win over the Pelicans on Monday.

Fantasy Impact: Griffin accounted for his lowest point total of the season and matched a season-low in field-goal attempts despite leading Detroit with 34 minutes. It's been a tremendously disappointing season for Griffin thus far, as he's averaging 18.2 points and 3.3 assists -- his lowest marks since 2012 -- and a career-low 4.9 boards. He'll try to bounce back Thursday against Dallas.

Andre Drummond managed 13 points (4-11 FG, 5-6 FT) and 10 rebounds across 25 minutes in the Pistons’ 105-103 win over the Pelicans on Monday.

Fantasy Impact: Drummond's "struggled" to a double-double Monday, though it was a very light statistical effort by his standards this season. The boards were his second-lowest mark on the season, and he failed to record a single defensive stat for just the second time in 2019. On the year, Drummond is averaging 17.5 points, 16.7 rebounds and 3.6 combined blocks/steals, and he'll look to bounce back Thursday against Luka Doncic and Co.

Derrick Rose totaled 21 points (9-17 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 2-2 FT), seven assists, three rebounds and a block across 28 minutes in the Pistons’ 105-103 win over the Pelicans on Monday.

Fantasy Impact: Rose was the hero of Monday's win, as he dazzled with 17 points in the final frame, including the game-winner with just 0.3 seconds remaining. Rose has provided solid play off the bench as of late, going for 14.2 points, 7.2 assists and 2.6 rebounds across five games in the month of December.

Markieff Morris has been downgraded to out for Friday's matchup with the Pacers. (Source: Rod Beard on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Morris will miss his first game of the season due to neck soreness. Expect Christian Wood to see substantial run off the bench.

Category: Injury Updates

Langston Galloway provided 20 points (7-10 FG, 4-5 3PT, 2-3 FT) one rebound and one assist across 38 minutes in Wednesday's 127-103 loss to the Bucks.

Fantasy Impact: Galloway has now knocked down multiple three-pointers in 11 of his last 13 games. He is averaging 12.6 points, 2.1 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 2.5 triples across 22 games this season. Galloway can be used as a streamer as he continues to shoot well from the field. The Pistons next scheduled game is Friday, home against the Pacers.

Luke Kennard (knee) will not play Wednesday against the Bucks. (Source: Detroit Pistons on Twitter )

Fantasy Impact: Kennard has bilateral knee tendinopathy and has been ruled out for Wednesday's contest. Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk will start in his place. Kennard is day-to-day for now and could return for Friday's game against the Pacers.

Christian Wood erupted for 28 points (11-14 FG, 2-3 3PT, 4-4 FT), 10 rebounds, two assists, one steal and one block across 22 minutes in Sunday's 132-98 win over the Spurs.

Fantasy Impact: Wood scored a career-high 28 points and posted his third double-double of the season. He is averaging 9.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.0 blocks across 18 games this year. Wood has been on fire recently and can be used as a streamer in all league formats. The Pistons next scheduled game is Tuesday, away against the Cavaliers.

Tony Snell will miss his third game in a row against his former team the Milwaukee Bucks due to a hip injury. (Source: NBA.com)

Fantasy Impact: With Snell out again, Langston Galloway will start in his place with Luke Kennard picking up minutes. Kennard is the preferred option if he is active.

Sekou Doumbouya may be called up from the G League this weekend. (Source: Rod Beard on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Doumbouya is a promising young small forward who is averaging 17.7 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 1.1 assists in seven G league games. He also shooting 39.6% from three, which is very attractive for the Pistons. He's only 18 years old. Keep an eye on him in the waivers for your season long leagues, and as a potential DFS play this weekend.

Bruce Brown scored two points with six assists, five rebounds and two block in the loss to Chicago.

Fantasy Impact: Brown did not have a great night shooting, make only 1 of 6 against the Bulls. Brown isn’t worth a roster spot on most fantasy teams.

Tim Frazier contributed 0 points (0-3 FG, 0-2 3Pt), four assists, a rebound and a steal over 10 minutes in the Pistons’ 120-114 loss to the Timberwolves on Monday.

Fantasy Impact: Frazier has missed his last four contests with a shoulder injury after starting four of six games to start the season. He's proven to be a useful fantasy asset when given the playing time, though with Derrick Rose and Blake Griffin back in action, Frazier could have a tough time finding minutes moving forward.

Category: Game Recaps

Svi Mykhailiuk was held out of the box score in Monday's 120-114 loss to the Timberwolves, playing just five minutes.

Fantasy Impact: Mykhailiuk averaged 16.6 minutes over five appearances this season, though his role was drastically reduced in Monday's loss. The dip in playing time coincides with the return of Derrick Rose and the season debut of Blake Griffin, and it's possible Mykhailiuk could be phased out of the rotation completely, barring injuries.

Category: Game Recaps

Thon Maker contributed six points (2-2 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 1-2 FT) and a rebound over 19 minutes in the Pistons’ 120-114 loss to the Timberwolves on Monday.

Fantasy Impact: Maker's 19 minutes matched his second-highest total of the season, but the lanky forward managed a small stat line. Heading into the night, he's averaged 2.8 points and 2.4 rebounds over 13.5 minutes per game, though his playing time could be reduced further as Blake Griffin works his way into game shape. Maker needs to remain on waivers, even in deeper leagues.

Reggie Jackson (back) has been diagnosed with a stress reaction in his lower back and will be out at least four weeks. (Source: Shams Charania on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Jackson played the first two games of the season before being sidelined due to the injury. With Jackson out, Derrick Rose figures to continue handling the ball out of the backcourt. Tim Frazier and Langston Galloway should also see an uptick in minutes.

Michael Beasley has been released by Detroit in order to bring in newly-signed Joe Johnson. (Source: CBS Sports)

Fantasy Impact: Beasley should eventually be able to find a new home, though may have a more difficult time doing so with his five-game suspension kicking in after he signs a new deal.

Joe Johnson has agreed to a one-year, partially guaranteed contract with Detroit. After winning the MVP award in the BIG3 league, he will make his return to the NBA to add some scoring depth for the Pistons. (Source: ESPN)

Fantasy Impact: The 38 year-old should serve as a solid reserve and mentor for the team, though will highly unlikely be able to translate his performances to fantasy value.

The Warriors have hired Zaza Pachulia as a consultant. The 35 year-old big man spent 16 seasons in the NBA, mostly with Atlanta, and was able to win two rings with Golden State. (Source: NBA.com)

Fantasy Impact: Zaza was a dependable fantasy asset back in his first two years with Atlanta, where he had averaged roughly 12 points and 7.5 rebounds per contest, prior to the arrival of Al Horford. He was a serviceable position rebounder and shot a career average 75% from the free throw line.

The Golden State Warriors have signed guard Glenn Robinson III to a two-year contract, with a player option built into the second year. He played for the Pistons last season and averaged 4.2 PPG and 1.5 RPG. (Source: Shams Charania on Twitter )

Fantasy Impact: The Warriors continue their youth movement by signing the 25-year-old, 6'6" wing away from Detroit. Their lack of length and youth at guard was evident throughout the playoffs, as HC Steve Kerr was forced to give heavy minutes to veterans Andre Iguodala and Shaun Livingston. With the former traded to Memphis and the latter likely gone as well, Robinson fills an immediate need at the position and will get a decent amount of playing time with the bench players.

Ish Smith agreed Monday with the Wizards on a two-year, $12 million contract (Source: Shams Charania on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: With John Wall (Achilles) expected to miss most of the 2019-2020 season, and the Wizards trading Tomas Satoransky to Chicago, Ish Smith could end up opening the campaign as the Wizard's starting point guard. He spent most of last season in a timeshare with Reggie Jackson. Smith averaged 9.8 points, 4.5 assists, and 2.8 rebounds in 56 games for the Pistons last season.

Jon Leuer traded to Milwaukee

Wed, Jun 19th 11:19pm EDT
By Brad Camara

Jon Leuer was traded to Milwaukee on Wednesday in exchange for Tony Snell and the 30th pick in the 2019 draft. (Source: Adrian Wojnarowski on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Leuer had a disappointing 2018-2019 campaign as he struggled to find a role in the Pistons' front court. He will likely struggle to find playing time for Milwaukee with a crowded frontcourt. Leuer averaged 3.8 points, 2.4 rebounds, 0.3 assists, 0.3 steals, and 0.1 blocks in 41 games for the Pistons last season. He has little to no fantasy value.
