Detroit Pistons

Eastern Central

Isaiah Stewart posted nine points (4-7 FG, 0-1 3PT, 1-2 FT), seven rebounds, one assist and one block in 17 minutes off the bench during Wednesday's loss to the Bucks.

Fantasy Impact: Stewart has been playing well lately and it's led to a slight increase in minutes. He's someone worth keeping an eye on in fantasy, especially in dynasty leagues.

Category: Game Recaps

Wayne Ellington scored only five points (2-6 FG, 1-4 3PT), one rebound, one assist and one turnover in 14 minutes during Wednesday's loss to the Bucks.

Fantasy Impact: Ellington started but only saw 14 minutes as his only role is to provide the Pistons with a shooting presence to start the game. He holds no fantasy value in any format.

Josh Jackson posted 11 points (4-8 FG, 2-3 3PT, 1-2 FT), one rebound, three assists, one steal and three turnovers in 25 minutes off the bench during Wednesday's loss to the Bucks.

Fantasy Impact: Jackson is working his way back from an ankle injury but his 25 minutes were an encouraging sign after he saw 19 and 14 respectively in the previous two games. He could hold some fantasy value moving forward but will see a bigger increase on night's where Blake Griffin sits.

Svi Mykhailiuk erupted for 18 points (6-9 FG, 2-4 3PT, 4-5 FT) and one rebound in 18 minutes during Wednesday's loss to the Bucks.

Fantasy Impact: Mykhailiuk was in his bag despite the loss and managed to post a season-high in points. He's still seeing less than 20 minutes per game and cannot be trusted in fantasy. He'll look to stay hot in what's likely to be a high-scoring affair Friday against the Wizards.

Saddiq Bey posted 10 points (3-8 FG, 2-6 3PT, 2-3 FT), two rebounds and two turnovers in 20 minutes off the bench during Wednesday's loss to the Bucks.

Fantasy Impact: Bey's 20 minutes marked his lowest since back on January 3rd but the rookie has done a fine job providing a scoring spark for the Pistons. He's someone worth keeping an eye on but not a must-add outside of dynasty leagues.

Category: Game Recaps

Mason Plumlee scored seven points (3-11 FG, 0-1 3PT, 1-2 FT), 13 rebounds, five assists, two steals and two turnovers in 22 minutes during the Pistons loss to the Bucks on Wednesday.

Fantasy Impact: Plumlee continues to do a solid job contributing in multiple areas but has seen his minutes decrease over the month of January. He should continue starting at center but with the Pistons losing most of their games, they could be inclined to give Isaiah Stewart more run. Plumlee will continue to be a fine fantasy asset in category formats heading into Friday's game against the Wizards.

Delon Wright posted three points (1-10 FG, 1-3 3PT), eight rebounds, seven assists, one block and one steal in 32 minutes during Wednesday's loss to the Bucks.

Fantasy Impact: Wright had a brutal night offensively but was able to contribute in other areas. He's now averaged 6.0 rebounds and 5.3 assists since being named a starter in Killian Hayes' absence, though he's left a lot to be desired on the offensive end of the floor, shooting 27 percent over his last four games. He still remains a solid add across all formats as his field goal shooting should regress to the norm at some point. His next chance will come Friday against the Wizards.

Jerami Grant produced 22 points (7-19 FG, 3-6 3PT, 5-6 FT), four rebounds, one assist, one block, two steals and three turnovers in 35 minutes during Wednesday's loss to the Bucks.

Fantasy Impact: Grant continued to be the focal point of the Pistons offense, though he struggled with efficiency in this one. He's now scored at least 22 points in all but one game this season and fantasy managers have to be thrilled with his production based on where he was selected. He'll look to keep up his breakout season on Friday against the Wizards.

Category: Game Recaps

Blake Griffin posted 12 points (4-9 FG, 3-6 3PT, 1-2 FT), seven rebounds, six assists, one steal and four turnovers in 32 minutes during Wednesday's loss to the Bucks.

Fantasy Impact: Griffin has scored more than 16 points just once this season and has ceded much of the offensive responsibilities to Jerami Grant. he still holds some fantasy value but is a far cry from the player he once was. Next up is Friday's tilt against the Wizards.

Derrick Rose is out for the Pistons’ match-up against the Bucks. (Source: Keith Langlois on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: With Rose missing more time, both Delon Wright and Frank Jackson will more than likely split the point guard minutes. Out of the two, the upside belongs to Wright given the amount of opportunity he has been given to be on the floor, he can also put up compelling lines, depending on the game's context, and a difficult match against the Bucks could bode well for his production. He is worth considering as a DFS flier.

Killian Hayes, who suffered the injury on Monday, underwent an MRI on Tuesday which revealed a labral tear in his hip. (Source: Shams Charania on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Hayes went down in the third quarter of Monday's loss to the Bucks after trying to stop a fast break. He left the game and never returned. As of now, it's unclear how long he will be out for but Delon Wright, Derrick Rose, and Josh Jackson should all see upticks in usage for as long as the rookie is sidelined.

Sekou Doumbouya scored 13 points (4-13 FG, 3-6 3PT, 2-2 FT), two rebounds, one assist and two steals in 23 minutes during Monday's loss to the Bucks.

Fantasy Impact: Doumbouya got some extended run with Josh Jackson and Blake Griffin forced to sit for various reasons and he was impressive. The 20-year-old notched a new season-high with 13 points and saw the most playing time he's received thus far. His role is likely to be reduced when Jackson and Griffin return to the lineup on Wednesday, though he's a name to lookout for any time Detroit is plagued by injury.

Jahlil Okafor posted six points (3-3 FG), two rebounds, one assist and one block in only eight minutes during the Pistons loss to the Celtics on Sunday.

Fantasy Impact: Okafor returned from his sprained ankle on Friday but didn't log any minutes. It appears that rookie Isaiah Stewart (15 minutes) has moved ahead of him on the depth chart as Detroit looks to go all in on their young talent in order for them to gain on-court experience. Okafor is not on the fantasy radar outside of multiple injuries to key guys ahead of him on the depth chart.

On Wednesday, the Detroit Pistons signed 22-year-old shooting guard LiAngelo Ball to a non-guaranteed, one-year contract. (Source: Shams Charania on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: The brother of Lonzo (Pelicans) and LaMelo (Charlotte), LiAngelo joins his brothers as they have all now been signed to NBA contracts. After being suspended at UCLA for a shoplifting incident in 2017, LiAngelo left college and played overseas in Lithuania in 2018 with LaMelo before signing with the Oklahoma City G League team in March. However, he never appeared in a game as the season was cancelled due to COVID-19. He can be ignored for fantasy purposes for now.

Derrick Walton Jr. has agreed to a one-year deal with the Philadelphia 76ers, per Adrian Wojnarowski. (Source: Adrian Wojnarowski on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Walton averaged 2.0 points, 0.6 rebounds, and 1.0 assists per contest over 26 games between the Clippers and Pistons in 2019-2020. He'll fill a reserve role in Philly's backcourt and won't hold much fantasy value unless there is an injury in front of him on the depth chart.

Forwards Trevor Ariza and Justin Jackson have been traded to the Thunder as part of a three-team trade that sent F James Johnson to the Mavericks and G Delon Wright to the Pistons. (Source: Adrian Wojnarowski on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Ariza was traded three times so far this offseason. He was dealt to the Rockets, then to the Pistons and finally ends up in Oklahoma City. The 35-year-old forward averaged 8.0 points, 4.6 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.5 triples across 28.2 minutes over 53 game for the Kings/Trail Blazers last season. Ariza will provide a veteran presence for the Thunder, but only has fantasy value in deep-league formats.

The Pistons are expected to waive and stretch C Dewayne Dedmon, per Vincent Goodwill of Yahoo! Sports. (Source: Vince Goodwill on Twitter )

Fantasy Impact: Dedmon was traded to the Pistons on Thursday, but Detroit will ultimately waive him. He averaged 5.8 points, 5.7 rebounds and 0.9 blocks over 44 contests for the Hawks/Kings in 2019-20. The Pistons signed free agent centers Jahlil Okafur and Mason Plumlee on Friday, making Dedmon expendable. The 31-year-old center will try to latch onto another team this off-season.

Free-agent F Christian Wood has agreed to terms with the Houston Rockets on a three-year deal worth $40M, sources tell ESPN. The deal is expected to be executed via a sign-and-trade with Detroit. (Source: Adrian Wojnarowski on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Wood inks his first major pay as an NBA player as he'll be the new forward/center for the Houston Rockets. Wood will provide solid fantasy production for the Rockets, who were in obvious need of a frontcourt player who can rebound and protect the rim. The 25-year-old forward averaged 21.9 points, 9.4 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 0.8 steals, 0.8 blocks, and 1.7 triples during 12 starts for the Pistons last season. While he'll enter a different system, the lack of competition at the position will be a benefit to Wood and his fantasy value this season. Target him as an ascending talent who can be an instant double-double.

The Pistons have opted not to extend a qualifying offer to Thon Maker, making him an unrestricted free agent. (Source: Adrian Wojnarowski on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Maker will become a free agent and look to latch onto another franchise. He averaged 4.7 points and 2.8 rebounds, 0.7 assists and 0.7 blocks in 12.9 minutes over 60 games. Maker will provide depth at center for an NBA team, but won't have any fantasy value in most league formats.

SG Luke Kennard has been traded from the Detroit Pistons to the Los Angeles Clippers in exchange for the No. 19 pick in the draft via Brooklyn, per source. (Source: Shams Charania on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Kennard was part of a trade involving both the Clippers and Nets, sending Landry Shamet to Brooklyn and the No. 19 draft pick to Detroit. The fourth-year shooting guard from Duke averaged 15.8 points, 4.1 assists, 3.5 rebounds and 0.4 steals for the Pistons last season. The Clippers will look to rely on his three-point shooting ability, as Kennard has averaged 40 percent from long-range in his career.
