Detroit Pistons

Eastern Central

Reggie Jackson and the Detroit Pistons agreed to a contract buyout and Jackson will sign with the Los Angeles Clippers once he clears waivers. (Source: Adrian Wojnarowski on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: This is a major impact to Jackson's fantasy outlook for the remainder of the season as he will now be relegated to a bench role with the Clippers. Over 14 games this season, Jackson is averaging 14.9 points, 5.1 assists, and 2.9 rebounds in 27.2 minutes per game.

Langston Galloway produced 11 points (4-11 FG, 3-10 3PT), three assists and two rebounds across 30 minutes in Wednesday's 116-112 overtime loss to the Magic.

Fantasy Impact: Galloway buried a game-tying three-pointer to force overtime on Wednesday. Despite the solid game in Wednesday's loss, Galloway is only worth owning in deep-league formats. He enters the All-Star break averaging 10.1 points, 2.2 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 2.0 triples across 57 games. The Pistons next scheduled game is after the all-Star break on February 20th, home against the Bucks.

Tony Snell tallied 16 points (6-8 FG, 4-5 3PT), five assists, three rebounds and one block across 33 minutes in Wednesday's 116-112 overtime loss to the Magic.

Fantasy Impact: Snell produced one of his better games of the season, pouring in 16 points and dishing out five assists in Wednesday's loss. He enters the All-Star break averaging 8.1 points, 1.8 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.8 triples across 50 games. Snell is fringe deep-league option at best, and should not be owned in standard leagues. The Pistons next scheduled game is after the all-Star break on February 20th, home against the Bucks.

Markieff Morris put up 14 points (5-7 FG, 4-5 3PT), eight rebounds, one assist, and one block in 21 minutes during the Pistons 116-112 loss to the Magic on Wednesday.

Fantasy Impact: This was Morris' second game back after sitting out five-games due to the flu and a hip injury. He saw 21 minutes of action off the bench and was able to put up a near double-double, while shooting 71 percent from the field. The stellar play of Christian Wood has more-than-likely earned him the starting Power Forward spot going forward, though Morris should continue to receive plenty of opportunities coming off the bench. The nine-year vet heads into the All-Star break with averages of 11.0 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game.

Thon Maker put up 18 points (6-9 FG, 2-3 3PT, 4-4 FT), two rebounds, one assist, one block, and one steal in 27 minutes during Wednesday's loss to the Magic.

Fantasy Impact: Maker played well in this one, shooting 66 percent from the field and sinking in all four of his free-throw attempts. The 22-year old has seen his minutes increase after Andre Drummond was traded to Cleveland last week and he has been impressive. Maker has scored in double-figures in three out of his past four games while shooting 58 percent from the field in those contests. Maker and the Pistons get a week off for the All-Star break before taking on the Bucks at home next Thursday.

Christian Wood went off for 26 points (9-14 FG, 1-4 3PT, 7-8 FT), 12 rebounds, one assist, and two blocks across 38 minutes in the Pistons 116-112 overtime loss to the Magic.

Fantasy Impact: Wood has been stellar ever since the Pistons sent Andre Drummond to Cleveland. Over his last five games, the big-man is averaging 20 points and 10 rebounds a night, while shooting 51 percent from the field. Markieff Morris saw 21 minutes off the bench after returning this week from an illness that kept him sidelined for five games in February. However, it seems that Wood has played well enough to retain his starting spot. If he is still available in your league, go ahead and scoop him up.

Derrick Rose put up two points (1-13 FG, 0-4 3PT), four assists, one steal, and one block across 17 minutes during Wednesday's 116-112 overtime loss to the Magic.

Fantasy Impact: After sitting out the previous five games due to a strained left hip, Rose returned to the lineup but couldn't seem to get anything going on Wednesday. He had more turnovers than points scored and failed to get to the charity-stripe. Write this off as an anomaly as the former-MVP will now have some extra time to recover with the All-Star break coming up.

Svi Mykhailiuk will return to action in Wednesday's matchup against the Magic. (Source: Rod Beard on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Mykhailiuk missed five games with a hip injury but will look to leave that behind him and hit the court on Wednesday. The second-year sharpshooter drained 43.8% of his attempts from downtown in January while averaging 13.3 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 2.1 assists. He's been a sneaky play in DFS and given his lack of physical play, he should assume his normal role as a perimeter and knock down a few three pointers. He's a great target for DFS tournaments given his low value and high upside.

Bruce Brown Jr. scored 10 points (5-13 FG, 0-2 3Pt), grabbed 12 rebounds, and dished five assists over a team-high 39 minutes in Monday's 87-76 loss to the Hornets.

Fantasy Impact: The second-year shooting guard set his career-high in rebounds in Monday's contest with 12. Only averaging 4.3 per year, don't expect this to be a sign of things to come. Brown Jr. is also averaging 8.8 points and 3.9 assists per game. Those types of numbers should be enough to keep Brown Jr. on your league's waiver wire, regardless of this fluky game.

John Henson furnished 12 points (6-6 FG), four rebounds, one assist and a steal over 18 minutes in the Pistons’ 95-92 loss to the Knicks on Saturday.

Fantasy Impact: Henson made his Pistons' debut Saturday, playing strong minutes off the bench in the process. Detroit's frontcourt depth is thin at best, and it's entirely possible the big man earns enough run to provide fantasy-relevant production in deeper leagues.

Andre Drummond is going to Cleveland and Brandon Knight, John Henson and a second-round pick are coming back to Detroit. (Source: James Edwards III on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: As expected, the Pistons are moving on from their superstar center. Drummond and the Cavaliers' current center Tristan Thompson should be able to co-exist offensively together in Cleveland as they play different styles of center. However, this move could potentially hurt Drummond's rebounding totals as he will be sharing missed shot opportunities with the big-bodied Thompson and savvy veteran Kevin Love. The team's next matchup is Sunday against the Clippers and we should get a better idea of lineups and usage after that.

Sekou Doumbouya provided 17 points (6-12 FG, 2-5 3PT, 3-4 FT) five rebounds and two turnovers across 34 minutes in Sunday's 128-123 win over the Nuggets.

Fantasy Impact: Doumbouya entered the starting lineup Sunday, and scored double figures for the first time since January 15th's win over the Celtics. He doesn't log enough minutes to be considered anything more than a deep-league flyer. Doumbouya is averaging 7.2 points, 3.2 rebounds, 0.4 assists and 0.5 steals across 23 games this year. The Pistons next scheduled game is Monday, away against the Grizzlies.

Tim Frazier didn’t take the court in the Pistons’ 115-100 loss to the Cavs on Monday.

Fantasy Impact: Despite the absence of Derrick Rose, Frazier didn't take the court Monday, and it appears he's fallen out of Detroit's rotation. With just 15 total minutes across the Pistons' last five games, Frazier has no business being rostered in even the deepest of redraft leagues.

Category: Game Recaps

Louis King scored three points (1-3 FG, 1-2 3Pt) to go with one rebound and an assist over 11 minutes in the Pistons’ 115-100 loss to the Cavs on Monday.

Fantasy Impact: King has now appeared in four straight contests for Detroit after spending nearly all of the season with the Grand Rapids Drive. The rookie from Oregon has seen limited run with the Pistons in his inaugural campaign, and he doesn't belong on redraft rosters at this point.

On January 10th the Pistons applied for a disabled player exception for the season-ending injury to Blake Griffin and the league just granted it. (Source: Shams Charania on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: This move finalizes the suspicions that Pistons fans and Blake Griffin owners both feared. The star forward will not play for the remainder of the season. Sekou Doumbouya and Markieff Morris have both seen an increase in minutes with Griffin out but Doumbouya is the only one with year-long fantasy value. In case it wasn't already clear, Griffin should be dropped in all formats.

Luke Kennard (knee) may not return until after the All-Star break. (Source: James Edwards III on Twitter )

Fantasy Impact: Kennard has missed the last 11 games due to bilateral knee soreness. He has yet to participate in any basketball activities, and is not expected back until the All-Star break. Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk would be the biggest beneficiary with Kennard sidelined, and is worth a pickup in deep-league formats.
