Detroit Pistons

Eastern Central

Pistons forward Saddiq Bey struggled from the field Monday night, shooting just 31.3% on his way to 15 points in the Pistons 114-103 loss to the Thunder.

Fantasy Impact: Bey just has not been able to translate a usage rate of 19.8% into any type of consistency on offense for the Pistons. Keep an eye on his performance going forward.

Pistons center Isaiah Stewart grabbed nine rebounds while also chipping in four points and blocking three shots as the Pistons fell to the Thunder 114-103.

Fantasy Impact: Stewart continues to be a menacing presence inside for the Pistons, averaging eight rebounds per game with a defensive rebounding percentage of 22.3%. If you must roster him, he is best left on your bench until he begins to contribute more consistently on offense.

Pistons forward Jerami Grant scored 20 points (9-16 FG, 1-4 3PT) while also grabbing six rebounds and dishing out five assists in the Pistons 114-103 loss to the Thunder.

Fantasy Impact: Grant continues to be a top-two option on offense for the Pistons early in the season, averaging 20.1 points per game with a usage rate of 26.1% in 33.2 minutes per game. Keep Grant plugged into your lineups.

Pistons guard Cade Cunningham recorded a double-double Monday night, scoring 28 points (11-24 FG, 6-11 3PT) and grabbing 11 rebounds as the Pistons fell to the Thunder 114-103.

Fantasy Impact: Cunningham continues to get more and more acclimated in the Pistons offense, with a usage rate of 25.7% in 31.7 minutes per game. Keep the faith in him going forward.

According to the Detroit Free Press, Pistons guard Killian Hayes is expected to miss at least two more games with a thumb injury. (Source: Detroit Free Press)

Fantasy Impact: Killian Hayes will miss their home game against Miami on Tuesday and road contest in Milwaukee on Wednesday with a sprained left thumb, the team announced Monday. Hayes sat out the 121-116 melee-marred loss to the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday. He's continued to sit since he aggravated the injury back in Indiana on Wednesday November 17th.

Kelly Olynyk once again had a strong performance coming off of the Pistons bench as he scored 14 points (5-11 FG, 2-4 3PT) and grabbed 10 rebounds as the Pistons lost to the Nets 96-90.

Fantasy Impact: Olynyk has proven early on this season that if given an opportunity he will make the most of it. He finished Friday night with an offensive rating of 89.8.

Hamidou Diallo totaled 18 points (8-18 FG, 0-5 3PT, 2-3 FT), twelve rebounds, three assists, two blocks, and one steal in 35 minutes in the Pistons' 104-91 loss to the Nuggets on Friday.

Fantasy Impact: Diallo double-doubled in the Pistons' loss to the Nuggets, putting together a well-rounded game as he contributed to every performance category of the stat-sheet. This season was his best so far in his young career as he averaged 23.4 minutes, 11.5 points, 5.2 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 0.8 steals, and 0.5 blocks per game while averaging 47.6 percent from the floor and 34.2 percent from beyond the arc. He will look to end his 2020-2021 campaign strong against the Heat.

Mason Plumlee totaled 12 points (6-9 FG), six rebounds, five assists, and two blocks, and one steal in 25 minutes in the Pistons' 118-104 loss to the Sixers on Saturday.

Fantasy Impact: Plumlee “stuffed” the stat-sheet in the Pistons’ loss to the Sixers, putting up a respectable performance line in his return. He has great upside and is a consistent producer, and if his availability wasn’t so spotty, he might be worth more consideration than he currently is. Plumlee is a viable value play for your DFS lineups; however, it would be best to monitor his status and planned use carefully before committing him to your roster.

Cory Joseph totaled five points (2-4 FG, 0-1 3PT, 1-1 FT), three rebounds, and three assists in 20 minutes in the Pistons' 118-104 loss to the Sixers on Saturday.

Fantasy Impact: Joseph scored 5.0 points in the Pistons’ loss to the Sixers, ending his streak of double-digit scoring performances at four. He is a good source of production if looking for a last-piece asset to round out your DFS lineup, but do be conscious of the match-up while monitoring any news that can provide insight into how he should be used in the rotation that given night.

Frank Jackson totaled 11 points (3-6 FG, 1-1 3PT, 4-5 FT), two rebounds, two assists, and two steals in 32 minutes in the Pistons' 111-97 win over the Grizzlies on Thursday.

Fantasy Impact: Jackson had a weak scoring night in the Pistons' win over the Grizzlies, as he put up 11.0 points after averaging 19.2 points per game across his previous five contests. After performing well as an off-the-bench asset, his production in his spot start was underwhelming. In April, he successfully found consistency and a role within the team's rotation, albeit off the bench, and produced at a respectable level. However, with his value being significantly dependent on scoring, nights like these can nullify any potential upside that one may hope to obtain in rostering him for their fantasy lineups. Jackson has done enough to warrant some consideration as a promising flier but shouldn't be forced into play outside of small slates, or stars-and-scrubs team builds.

Josh Jackson totaled five points (2-10 FG, 0-5 3PT, 1-4 FT), five rebounds, three assists, and one block in 35 minutes in the Pistons' 107-94 loss to the Hornets on Saturday.

Fantasy Impact: Jackson scored 5.0 points in the Pistons’ loss to the Hornets, officially ending his streak of double-digit scoring efforts at seven. He has been a consistent source of offensive production for the Pistons and should continue to produce even though these kinds of performances are an oh-so-very-real aspect of his game. Jackson can be a “lukewarm” fantasy producer, which can create some risks for your lineup build. However, he is worth considering for your roster as a last-piece asset, given his potential upside and role.

Wayne Ellington scored 15 points (5-7 FG, 5-7 3PT) with two rebounds, four assists, a block, and a turnover across 25 minutes during Sunday's 131-124 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers.

Fantasy Impact: Ellington drained five triples and dished four assists during Sunday's loss to the Clippers. The veteran shooting guard continues to be featured in the Pistons' starting lineup and remains a solid value add for depth in most leagues if he continues to see over 20 minutes per night. Fantasy managers will have their next opportunity to start Ellington in lineups when Detroit hosts the Clippers for the second game of the series on Wednesday.

Dennis Smith Jr. has been listed questionable with a knee injury ahead of the Pistons game Sunday against the Clippers. (Source: NBA Injury Report )

Fantasy Impact: Killian Hayes (rest) has already been ruled out so if Smith also sits, Saben Lee would be in line to see more playing time. This will be a situation with Smith to monitor heading into Sunday night.

Detroit Pistons PF Sekou Doumbouya (migraine) has been ruled out Wednesday against the Blazers. (Source: NBA Website )

Fantasy Impact: The Pistons will be without Doumbouya, Dennis Smith Jr. (back), Wayne Ellington (calf), and Rodney McGruder (elbow) on Wednesday. Doumbouya is sitting for the second straight game with a migraine.

Category: Injury Updates

Saben Lee posted 19 points (7-12 FG, 2-2 3PT, 3-5 FT), three rebounds, five assists, one block, one steal, and three turnovers in 26 minutes during Monday's win over the Raptors.

Fantasy Impact: Lee was moved into the starting lineup with Dennis Smith Jr. and Killian Hayes remaining out and he posted the most points since back on March 3rd. While Monday's performance was impressive, it shouldn't be expected going forward due to the logjam at guard in Detroit. He should, however, hold some streaming value for as long as Smith remains out.

The Detroit Pistons have traded G Delon Wright to the Sacramento Kings in exchange for Cory Joseph and two second-round picks. (Source: Adrian Wojnarowski on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Wright heads to Sacramento and immediately provides guard depth behind De’Aaron Fox and Tyrese Haliburton. The Pistons now have a void at the starting point guard position, so it’ll be interesting to see who slots in as the starter. It could be Joseph, but it could also very well be Dennis Smith Jr., whom they traded for a month ago. Wright is still likely to see a solid chunk of minutes, but he loses his fantasy appeal just a bit if the Kings decide to bring him off the bench.

Current Pistons forward Blake Griffin is likely to sign with the Brooklyn Nets. (Source: Shams Charania on Twitter )

Fantasy Impact: The Nets are an NBA title favorite for 2021, and adding Griffin to the franchise will increase their chances of winning more. Griffin is averaging 12.3 points per game, 5.2 rebounds per game, and 3.9 assists per game.

Rodney McGruder put up 20 points (7-14 FG, 4-6 3PT, 2-3 FT), three rebounds, five assists, and two steals in 26 minutes during Wednesday's win over the Raptors.

Fantasy Impact: McGruder had his best performance of the season but was awarded some extra playing time with the game decided early. Despite the impressive showing, McGruder should be left on waivers as he doesn't play a large enough role to warrant fantasy relevance.
