Bernard James

Earning the start at center with Tyson Chandler and Amar'e Stoudemire not playing, Bernard James made the most of time on the court. Playing 27 minutes, James scored seven points and grabbed 11 boards, the rebounds a career-high. The third year pro also added three assists and two blocks Wednesday.

Fantasy Impact

A good showing for James, who has proven to be third on the depth chart behind Chandler and Stoudemire. Despite his success Wednesday, James should be left on the waiver wire.

The Mavericks have signed free agent forward Bernard James to a 10-day contract. James most recently played in China, but was with Dallas the last two seasons before being released in October. James has averaged 7.9 minutes and 2.1 points per game in 76 games the past two seasons.

Fantasy Impact

The Mavs backup bigs were limited going into the season and after trading Brandan Wright in the Rajon Rondo deal, they have been extremely thin up front since December. Now with center Tyson Chandler on the shelf for at least one game, Dallas needed another big man. Dallas has publicly shown interest in signing veteran Jermaine O'Neal, but the veteran forward is still trying to get back into NBA shape. For the time being James joins Greg Smith and Dwight Powell as the primary options to replace Chandler Wednesday against Utah. James holds little to no fantasy value.
