Los Angeles Lakers head coach JJ Redick said that Dalton Knecht will receive playing time on Friday and for the foreseeable future.
Fantasy Impact
With Austin Reaves (calf), Gabe Vincent (back) and Rui Hachimura (calf) sidelined, coach Redick confirmed that Knecht will see increased action in the foreseeable future, though he has logged just 12 total minutes over his last three games. Redick did not specify Knecht’s role for Friday but said he will need to “play hard” to stick in the rotation, making him a player to monitor rather than add until consistent minutes materialize.
Knecht tallied 16 points (6-7 FG, 0-2 FT), two rebounds, one assist and four three-pointers in Wednesday’s loss to the Thunder. He did most of his damage in the fourth quarter, shooting 4-of-5 from the field and knocking down three triples after the outcome was essentially decided.
Fantasy Impact
Knecht has not played a significant role this season, even with LeBron James sidelined. With James nearing a return, Knecht’s minutes could become even more limited.
Dalton Knecht scored 15 points (7-12 FG, 1-5 3PT, 7-7 FT) with one rebound, one assist, one steal and two blocks across 36 minutes in Wednesday's 116-115 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Fantasy Impact
With Marcus Smart (quadriceps), Gabe Vincent (ankle) and Luka Doncic (finger/leg) sidelined, Knecht capitalized by scoring 15 points on 58.3% shooting while logging a season-high 36 minutes. As long as all three remain out, he should continue to be a solid streaming option and a viable play in daily fantasy lineups. He’s averaged 15.5 points over his last two games.
Dalton Knecht led the second unit for the Lakers Monday night, scoring 16 points (5-13 FG, 2-8 3PT, 4-4 FT) while also grabbing two rebounds, blocking one shot, recording two steals, and dishing out one assist in a 122-108 loss to the Trailblazers.
Fantasy Impact
Knecht was impactful in increased minutes Monday night, reaching double figures in scoring and logging over 20 minutes on the floor for the first time in three games. The forward continues to flash the ability to offer impactful offense when on the floor, but needs a more consistent role moving forward in the Los Angeles rotation for fantasy managers.
The Lakers picked up Dalton Knecht's team option for the 2026-27 season on Tuesday, Keith Smith of Spotrac.com reports. This is largely a formality and keeps Knecht on the books for $4.2 million for that season.
Fantasy Impact
Although it didn't translate to the exhibitions, it's been widely reported that coach JJ Redick has been impressed by Knecht in training camp. He is likely to get an opportunity to impress early on while LeBron James is sidelined.
