G - DET
Sources tell ESPN that G Delon Wright has been traded to the Detroit Pistons as part of a three-team trade that sent F James Johnson to the Mavericks and forwards Trevor Ariza and Justin Jackson to Oklahoma City.
Wright has served as a viable backup guard for the Mavericks during his tenure with the Mavs. He'll likely have a similar role for the Pistons, with his fantasy value tied to his opportunity. He finished last season, averaging 6.9 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 3.3 assists in 73 games last season.
In just 15 minutes played, Delon Wright was only able to produce five points, two rebounds, and one assist. Trey Burke, who scored 31 points, saw the majority of back court minutes off the bench.
Wright, is rarely going to jump of the stat sheet, but can often be a sneaky value play in daily fantasy. Wright saw a surprisingly low amount of minutes for a game that went into overtime, which could have been caused by the success that Burke was having. Wright could has had some success on this Dallas team, but if Burke continues to shine, there will not be enough playing time for Wright in the back court.
Delon Wright scored 10 points (3-8 FG, 2-3 3PT, 2-2 FT), with nine rebounds, four assists, four steals, and one block in 28 minutes off the bench in Wednesday night's 113-97 win over the Nuggets.
Wright (28 mins) ended up playing more off the bench than Courtney Lee did with the starters (20 mins). He doesn't take a lot of shots, but what he lacks in scoring, he more than makes up for in multiple other categories including rebounding, dishing the rock, and accumulating steals. He's a swiss-army knife off the bench for Dallas, and has quietly had a very productive month of March, averaging seven points, 5.9 boards, 4.1 assists, and 2.3 steals in 26 minutes per game. Wright, along with the rest of the NBA, will now have to wait and see what happens in the coming days and weeks as the league wraps its head around the indefinite suspension that was put in place after all the games went final tonight.
Delon Wright scored four points (2-9 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 0-0 Ft) while posting eight rebounds, six assists and three steals across 32 minutes in the Mavericks 111-91 win over the Timberwolves on Sunday
While four points isn't much, Wright did try and make up for it in the other columns with his rebounds, assists and steals. But going 2-9 of the field and putting up a goose egg from beyond the arc is not promising for the Mavs' guard.
Delon Wright registered 14 points (6-8 FG, 2-2 FT) four rebounds, two assists and one steal across 29 minutes in Saturday's 111-107 win over the Hawks.
With Kristap Porzingis (rest) ruled out, Wright logged 30 minutes and scored double figures for the first time since February 7th. The 27-year old is averaging 6.8 points, 3.3 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 0.5 steals his his last six games. Wright doesn't produce enough to be considered anything more than a deep-league option. The Mavericks next scheduled game is Monday, home against the Timberwolves.
