Minnesota Timberwolves

Derrick Rose finished with 25 points on 11-of-16 shooting (2-of-3 from deep), and notched two steals, one assist, and one rebound while logging 33 minutes in Minnesota's 107-99 loss to Phoenix on Saturday night.

Fantasy Impact: Derrick Rose continues to show why he is in the conversation for Sixth Man of the Year, as he has been one of Minnesota's most consistent scorers this season. Rose is showing no signs of slowing down and he should be started with confidence in all leagues

Derrick Rose scored 20 points on 62 percent shooting from the field on Wednesday. Rose added four dimes and a rebound in 22 minutes off the bench.

Fantasy Impact: Rose saw less time on the floor than usual on Wednesday but still managed to put up 20 points for the third time in six games this month. Rose is averaging 1.0 steals per game this month but that's pretty much his only fantasy-relevant number other than his 16.8 points per game.

Derrick Rose saw significant minutes off the bench once again as he scored 21 points in 34 minutes in Minnesota's loss to Golden State on Monday night.

Fantasy Impact: Rose took more shots than any other member of the Timberwolves as he continues to provide a spark off the bench for coach Tom Thibodeau. 11 of Rose's points came in the second quarter, but the highlight of Rose's night came in the third when he blocked a three-point attempt from 6'10" Jonas Jerebko.

Derrick Rose got the start against the Trail Blazers with fellow teammate Robert Covington out due to knee soreness. Rose scored 18 points shooting a rough 9-for-25 from the floor. Rose also contributed nine assists, three rebounds, three steals, and a block during his team high 37 minutes of floor action.

Fantasy Impact: Derrick Rose is currently the 27th ranked guard in the NBA on standard league formats. He has dropped out of the top 20 in the past few weeks but with Covington out, and depending how long Covington will be out, Rose could thrive in the starting role.

Derrick Rose finished with 0 points on 0-of-4 shooting, and had five assists and three rebounds while logging 25 minutes in Minnesota's 103-91 win over Houston on Monday night.

Fantasy Impact: Rose didn't put up many points, as Jeff Teague was given the green light in this contest, logging 36 minutes. In his last five games prior to playing Houston, Rose was averaging 20.2 points per game on 62 percent shooting from the floor, and 62.5 percent from deep. Until proven otherwise, this game was most likely just a fluke, and Rose should be able to bounce back versus Charlotte on Wednesday night.

Derrick Rose finished with 16 points on 6-of-8 shooting (4-of-5 from deep), and had two assists and one steal while logging 18 minutes in Minnesota's 128-89 win over San Antonio on Wednesday night.

Fantasy Impact: In his last five games, Rose is averaging 3.8 shots from deep per game, and is knocking them down at a rate of 52.6 percent. Although early, Rose is definitely in the running for Sixth Man of the Year and isn't showing any signs of slowing down. If Rose is still available in your league then scoop him up now.

Derrick Rose continues his strong play despite Jeff Teague returning to the lineup from injury to score a game-high 25 points in a win over the Nets on Friday. Rose shot a solid 11-for-17 from the floor with two three-pointers in 29 minutes. Rose added three assists and two boards but two turnovers.

Fantasy Impact: Rose continues to play well and remains a solid option in all leagues despite the return of Jeff Teague. Rose will give fantasy owners the points they're looking for but with Teague back, assists will be harder to come by.

Category: , Game Recaps

Derrick Rose scored 20 points shooting 6-for-11 from the floor while making all six free-throw attempts. Rose also contributed four rebounds, four assists, and a steal during his 29 minutes of floor action.

Fantasy Impact: Derrick Rose was a steal of a late round pick for fantasy owners this season and even bigger steal for fantasy owners that picked him up off waivers. He is currently the 24th best guard in all of basketball in standard leagues averaging 30.94 fantasy points per game. Rose is a strong start option in most leagues depending on rosters and strong trade bait if teams need help elsewhere.

Derrick Rose scored 18 points on 55 percent shooting from the field on Sunday. Rose added three rebounds, three assists and a steal in 30 minutes off the bench.

Fantasy Impact: Since Rose's emotional 50-point effort on Halloween, the embattled veteran hasn't seen less than 30 minutes in a game. Thom Thibodeau has a lot of history with the former MVP and will no doubt continue to ride him as long he's putting up 19.3 points and 2.5 threes per game on 50 percent shooting from the field and 60 percent shooting from deep as he's done so far this month.

Category: , Game Recaps

Derrick Rose finished with 17 points on 7-of-13 shooting, and grabbed seven rebounds, and six assists while logging 34 minutes in Minnesota's 112-96 win over Portland on Friday night.

Fantasy Impact: Although Rose didn't start, he still logged 34 minutes and came up big for the Timberwolves, even with Jeff Teague coming back from injury, Rose still has plenty of fantasy upside since Minnesota needs backcourt production now that Jimmy Butler is no longer on the team.

Derrick Rose (knee) will not play for the T-Wolves in their contest with the Pelicans on Wednesday. (Source: Alan Horton on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: The knee issue is a worry for someone like Rose who's dealt with knee problems in the past. He may miss more time but it's still unclear what the short term plan is for Rose. In his absence, Jeff Teague and Tyus Jones will see added minutes.

Category: , Injury Updates

Derrick Rose started on Monday against the Nets and scored 23 points (8-for-18 from the field, 3-for-5 on trebles) over 29 minutes, adding two rebounds, six assists, one steal and one block.

Fantasy Impact: Rose didn't seem bothered by the facial contusion he suffered on Friday. He will be a good upside DFS play on Wednesday if his salary stays below $7k, and warrants consideration even if his price does nudge higher.

Category: , Game Recaps

Derrick Rose finished with 31 points on 11-of-17 shooting (7-of-9 from outside), and dished out five assists and grabbed three rebounds in 37 minutes versus the Lakers on Wednesday night.

Fantasy Impact: Rose has been impressive as of late, dropping 21 points versus Portland on Monday, and 31 versus LAL on Wednesday. Although Rose won't make 7 threes on most nights, he has most likely done enough to carve out a nice role for Minnesota going forward, but with Jeff Teague coming back in the near future, it's hard to know what that role will be. If Rose is still available in your league, you should definitely consider picking him up.

Category: , Game Recaps

Rose finished with 21 points on 8-of-20 shooting, and had four assists and three rebounds in 35 minutes versus the Clippers on Monday night.

Fantasy Impact: With Jeff Teague being sidelined with a knee injury, Rose has done a great job filling in for him. Although his value will most likely decrease once Jeff Teague returns, he is still worth adding, as he has no doubt made an impression on coach Thibodeau and should receive an abundance of minutes if he continues to play like he has been.

Category: , Game Recaps

Derrick Rose has been upgraded from questionable to probable for Sunday's game versus the Blazers despite a sore left ankle. With Jimmy Butler and Jeff Teague out, Rose will be leaned on again for offense as well as Tyus Jones for minutes at the point. (Source: Wolves PR on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Rose's incredible comeback continues on Sunday with a matchup with the Blazers and expect him to be involved a lot with Butler out again. Rose should be a popular DFS play and should be starting in all leagues.

Category: , Injury Updates

Rose finished with 50 points on 19-of-31 shooting, and dished out six assists, grabbed four rebounds, two steals, and one block while playing for 41 minutes in Minnesota's 128-125 win over Utah on Wednesday night.

Fantasy Impact: This was a magical night for Rose, as he dropped a career-high 50 points. Although he was sensational, it definitely isn't fair to expect this kind of performance from Rose on a consistent basis, as he will most likely not play for 41 minutes often, as Jeff Teague and Jimmy Butler should return to the starting lineup soon.

Category: , Game Recaps

Derrick Rose scored 11 points on 25 percent shooting from the field during Minnesota's win over the Lakers on Monday. Rose added seven rebounds and seven dimes in 29 minutes of action.

Fantasy Impact: Rose has struggled from the field over the last couple of games, but he's still been seeing some very significant minutes off the bench this season, averaging 28.4 per contest so far. The former MVP has been scoring 14.3 points, dishing 4.9 assists and grabbing 4.0 rebounds per game so far this year and despite his 39 percent mark from the field, I doubt Thom Thibodeau reduces his minutes any time soon.

Category: , Game Recaps

Derrick Rose came off the bench and provided 28 points shooting 11-for-21 from the floor including 2-for-5 from the three-point line and 4-for-6 from the free-throw line. Derrick Rose five rebounds, five assists, two steals, and a block during his time on the court as well.

Fantasy Impact: Derrick Rose has been one of the best 6th man of the year coming off the bench for the Wolves. Rose who was hardly was drafted in any fantasy leagues this season has provided a nice spark of fantasy points and is now owned in over 60% percent of leagues. Rose will be a fantasy up and down player but will be a nice hold to keep on fantasy rosters. If Jimmy Butler is traded away, Rose will be in line for the starting option for the Wolves.

Category: , Game Recaps

Derrick Rose came off the bench against the Spurs and could not find his touch. Rose played total of 31 minutes and scored 8 points shooting 3-for-12 from the floor including 0-for-2 from the three-point line and 2-for-2 from the free-throw line. Rose did contribute four rebounds and two assists. Look for Rose to have a bounce back performance against Cavaliers tonight.

Fantasy Impact: Derrick Rose who is in line for a big workload this season could thrive for fantasy owners. Rose had the third most time on the court against the Spurs and he came off the bench. If Jimmy Butler gets traded away look for Rose to get the starting nod.

Derrick Rose and the Timberwolves are finalizing a one-year contract, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports. (Source: Adrian Wojarnowski on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Rose averaged only 5.8 points and 1.2 assists in nine games for the Wolves last season. He looks like he will have a role off the bench again and his numbers will look the same. Rose is no longer fantasy relevant.

Derrick Rose finished with 17 points on 7-of-11 shooting, and grabbed six rebounds and four assists while playing 32 minutes in Minnesota's Game 4 loss to Houston on Monday night.

Fantasy Impact: Rose had another impressive night coming off the bench as Jeff Teague injured his finger and the Wolves needed a reliable scoring option. Although Teague should be good to go for Game 5, Rose should still get plenty of minutes given how well he's played in this series.

Category: , Game Recaps

Derrick Rose finished with 16 points on 7-of-14 shooting and put up four assists and two steals in 24 minutes versus Houston on Sunday night.

Fantasy Impact: Rose provided some much-needed scoring for Minnesota, as Jeff Teague struggled early, and Tyus Jones was limited to just seven minutes of playing time. Although Rose is capable of putting up big numbers, his fantasy ceiling is still limited as he will continue to battle Teague and Jones for minutes at guard.

By Matt Wiswell

Derrick Rose (ankle) will not play Friday against the Mavericks, his fifth straight missed game. (Source: StarTribune.com)

Fantasy Impact: With Rose out, Jamal Crawford and Tyus Jones will continue to handle backup guard duty. When Rose comes back he'll take some of their minutes, but there shouldn't be any change for Friday night.

Derrick Rose out Friday

By Matt Wiswell

Derrick Rose did not make the trip to New York with the Timberwolves, and will not play Friday. Rose is unlikely to play Saturday as well. (Source: Jerry Zgoda on Twiiter)

Fantasy Impact: With Rose out, Jamal Crawford and Tyus Jones should see extra minutes. However, neither is that attractive of an option against the Knicks.

Category: , Injury Updates

Derrick Rose agreed to a one year contract with the Timberwolves on Thursday as Minnesota looks to add guard depth with the recent injury to Jimmy Butler. (Source: Adrian Wojnarowski on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Even with Jimmy Butler out, Derrick Rose shouldn't be on any fantasy owner's radar, as Jeff Teague and Tyus Jones will likely be getting the most playing time at point guard.

Category: , Transactions

Derrick Rose has agreed to join the Wolves and his former coach Tom Thibeodeau in Minnesota for the rest of the season. Rose will slide in behind Jeff Teague and could play both guard spots down the stretch. (Source: Adrian Wojnarowski on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: It's a downgrade for Tyus Jones minutes and for his growth as he's played well this season and filled in well for Teague when he was out. Jones is probably only a handcuff for Teague but now can be dropped.

Category: , Transactions

As expected, Derrick Rose has been waived by the Jazz. Once he clears waivers, Rose is expected to sign with Minnesota and coach Tom Thibodeau. Rose will be a solid backup for Jeff Teague during the playoff push. (Source: Jazz PR on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Rose's fantasy value is non-existent anymore as he's no longer the MVP from 2011 and will compete for minutes with Tyus Jones. Leave Rose on the waiver wire the rest of the season.

Derrick Rose and Jae Crowder will both be going to the Jazz as part of a three-way deal between the Cavaliers, Kings and Jazz. The Cavaliers are acquiring Rodney Hood and George Hill in the trade with Iman Shumpert heading to the Kings. (Source: Adrian Wojnarowski on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: The Cavaliers continue to shake up their roster at the trade deadline by shipping Rose out of town. Rose has only played 16 games for the Cavaliers this season averaging 9.8 points per game. Rose will serve as a backup PG to Ricky Rubio in Utah and continue to have minimal fantasy appeal.

Derrick Rose returned to action on Thursday against the Magic after missing a lot of time with an ankle injury. Rose finished with nine points, three boards, one assist, and one block in just 13 minutes.

Fantasy Impact: Rose will be limited after returning from the ankle injury while backing up Isaiah Thomas. His return pushes Jose Calderon even further from the rotation. Rose is off the fantasy map at this time.

Category: , Game Recaps

Derrick Rose is expected to return to the lineup on Thursday as he is listed as probable in the game notes. Rose hasn't played since November 7th. Rose will most definitely be limited in minutes in his first game back. (Source: NBA.com)

Fantasy Impact: Rose started out the season as the starting point guard and was decent in 12-team leagues in his seven games played but an ankle injury forced him to miss most of November, December, and January. With Isaiah Thomas back, Rose should be left on the waiver wire.

Category: , Injury Updates

Derrick Rose will not play this week after he was expected to return this week. Isaiah Thomas will continue to start with Dwayne Wade backing him up. (Source: Joe Vardon on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Rose will return to a backup role with Isaiah Thomas back in the lineup and Dwayne Wade coming off the bench. Jose Calderon will move further away from the rotation and it will be a downgrade for Wade potentially also when Rose returns.

Category: , Injury Updates

Derrick Rose is expected to return to the lineup sometime this week. The Cavaliers play the Timberwolves on Monday and then Thursday in Toronto and Friday in Indiana. Rose will return to backup Isaiah Thomas. (Source: Cleveland.com)

Fantasy Impact: It seems more likely than not we could see Rose on Friday against the Pacers. There's no way he will play in back-to-back sets so we could see Thomas on Thursday and Rose on Friday. Rose should be considered doubtful for Monday and shouldn't be owned in any leagues.

Category: , Injury Updates

Derrick Rose remains out indefinitely after reports, from the Undefeated, quote him saying "there's no rush to return to the court". Rose will continue rehab with the chance of returning this season. However, when he does return it will be as Isaiah Thomas' backup, whose expected to return over the next two weeks. In the meantime, Jose Calderon will continue to start at PG. (Source: The Undefeated)

Fantasy Impact: Rose has been an absolute fantasy bust as he couldn't even stay healthy for the first half of the season with Thomas out of the lineup. Rose should be left on the waiver wire with Thomas a must-add in all leagues if he's available. In the meantime, Dwayne Wade should be owned over Jose Calderon in season-long leagues.

Category: , Injury Updates

Derrick Rose will rejoin the team this week to begin his rehab and treatment program on his injured left ankle. Rose doesn't have a timetable to return but his contemplation to retire puts him as doubtful to play the rest of 2017. Jose Calderon will start in his place. (Source: Cavs on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Rose should be dropped at this time with the news that he was even contemplating retirement. The odds Rose plays in 2017 again is highly unlikely and Isaiah Thomas should be back in 2018 making Rose a role player anyway. Until Thomas returns, Calderon is a punt DFS play at best while JR Smith and Dwayne Wade get an upgrade.

Derrick Rose will require at least two more weeks of rest on his injured ankle. Iman Shumpert is suffering from a knee injury so Dwayne Wade could be back in the starting lineup while Jose Calderon figures to see more minutes. (Source: Dave McMenamin on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Rose won't return until December now so fantasy owners may drop him if there's a better option available and Isaiah Thomas expected back in January. Jeff Green and Dwayne Wade benefit the most with Rose out.

Derrick Rose remains out on Friday

Fri, Nov 17th 12:59pm EST
By Clinton Ho

Derrick Rose will not play in Friday's game against the Los Angeles Clippers as he continues to deal with a sprained ankle. (Source: Cleveland Cavaliers Game Notes)

Fantasy Impact: Rose's ankle has now cost him the previous four games. Iman Shumpert has stepped into the starting lineup in the interim and has performed decently, but is a low-ceiling option if you're considering him in DFS as LeBron James still takes over the primary ball-handling duties.

Category: , Injury Updates

Derrick Rose has been ruled out for Monday's game against the Knicks. Rose will miss a chance to play against his former team while Iman Shumpert will start against his former team. Dwayne Wade figures to pick up minutes with Rose out. (Source: Brian Mahoney on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: With Rose out, Shumpert has been the starting "PG" while Dwayne Wade has picked up minutes off the bench. Wade is worth a look in DFS but that's about it while JR Smith and Iman Shumpert are on the DFS radar also. It's been an unpredictable season for Cavaliers bench players.

Derrick Rose will not play on Thursday against the Rockets due to a sore left ankle. Iman Shumpert will take his place and assume the role of trying to stop James Harden. Dwayne Wade will also see additional minutes at point guard as well as Jose Calderon. (Source: ESPN.com)

Fantasy Impact: Rose is likely only out for a game or two so keep hanging on there. In this game, lean towards the scoring options off the bench for the Cavaliers such as Kyle Korver, Dwayne Wade and/or Jeff Green in DFS lineups. Of course, start LeBron James and Kevin Love in all leagues.

Category: , Injury Updates

Derrick Rose scored 20 points a win over the Wizards on Friday while shooting 50 percent from the floor and from three. Rose added two assists and one board with two three-pointers made.

Fantasy Impact: Rose isn't providing much in terms of all-around stats but his scoring is something fantasy owners can be happy with. Rose is averaging 16 points per game so he's a must-add if available.

Category: , Game Recaps

Derrick Rose played well on Wednesday against the Pacers scoring 19 points on a solid shooting night (9-of-13). Rose added four boards, one assist but two turnovers. Rose seems to be close to full health as he played 29 minutes in this game.

Fantasy Impact: Rose is back and saw a full amount of minutes (29) in this game. Rose is still available in about 40 percent of ESPN leagues so go grab him if he's still out there.

Category: , Game Recaps

Derrick Rose returned to the starting lineup on Sunday against his former team, the Knicks. Rose finished with 15 points on a solid 6-of-11 shooting while also going perfect from the line. Rose added three boards and three assists but four turnovers.

Fantasy Impact: The all-around stats haven't been there for Rose as he's only averaging 3.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game this season but he's averaging 13.7 points per game on 44 percent shooting. Rose remains a solid PG in fantasy with Isaiah Thomas out.

Derrick Rose will start on Sunday against his former team, the New York Knicks. Rose was expected back on Saturday but the team decided to hold him out one more day. Jose Calderon will lose minutes and Iman Shumpert will move back to the bench. (Source: Jason Lloyd on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Rose is a must-own player with other guards struggling (Dwyane Wade and JR Smith) and Isaiah Thomas out (hip) for at least half the season. Rose is also a solid DFS play as his looks to get his revenge game on.

Category: , Injury Updates

Derrick Rose is expected to return on Sunday against the Knicks after missing time with an ankle injury. It makes sense to hold him out yesterday on the first of a back-to-back set. Expect Rose to get a chance at a revenge game on Sunday. (Source: Rebecca Haarlow on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Rose should be owned in 12-team leagues as the starting point guard on a scoring offense with Isaiah Thomas out. Rose is also on the DFS radar on Sunday with a revenge game.

Category: , Injury Updates

Derrick Rose will miss at least the next two games due to an ankle injury. Rose will miss Tuesday's game against the Bulls and Wednesday against the Nets. Jose Calderon will start in his place but Dwayne Wade and Iman Shumpert will pick up more minutes. (Source: Dave McMenamen on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Wade hasn't been good this season and needs to be dropped at this point while Shumpert is on the DFS radar. Rose shouldn't miss much time so hang onto him until he gets back.

Category: , Injury Updates

Derrick Rose has been ruled out for Saturday after sustaining a left ankle injury in Friday's game. Jose Calderon figures to see extra minutes but Iman Shumpert, Calderon or JR Smith could start in Rose's place. (Source: Dave McMenamin on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Calderon isn't an appealing DFS value play on Saturday with DJ Augustin or Shelvin Mack as better options. It's likely going to benefit JR Smith the most while LeBron James will bring up the ball more.

Category: , Injury Updates

Derrick Rose scored just 12 points in a win over the Bucks but it was an efficient 12 points making 3-of-4 shots and all six free throw attempts. Rose added two boards, two steals and one assist.

Fantasy Impact: Rose played just 23 minutes (the same amount as JR Smith) so the Cavaliers are totally fine with Dwayne Wade and/or Iman Shumpert as a backup point guard with James bringing up the ball. Rose is still worth owning but his ceiling isn't as high as expected.

Category: , Game Recaps

Derrick Rose got his Cavaliers' career off to a good start scoring 14 points (5-for-14 FG, 1-for-3 3PT, 3-for-4 FT) in a close win over the Celtics. Rose added four boards, two assists but two turnovers.

Fantasy Impact: Rose was able to get to the basket with ease as his speed was there getting him to the rim. He looked good and healthy making him a solid player to add if he's still out there in your leagues. Remember, Isaiah Thomas won't play at all in 2017 but should return in January 2018.

Category: , Game Recaps

Derrick Rose will start at PG on opening night with Isaiah Thomas likely out until 2018 with a hip injury. Rose will be joined by Dwayne Wade, LeBron James (game-time decision, Jae Crowder and Kevin Love. (Source: NBA.com)

Fantasy Impact: Rose is an excellent DFS play on opening night and hopefully, Thomas' owners handcuffed themselves with Rose. If James is out, even better news for Rose.

This has been confirmed with the news that Isaiah Thomas will likely be out until sometime in January. Rose will be the starting point guard with newcomer Jose Calderon backing him up. (Source: cleveland.com)

Fantasy Impact: Rose could be worth a look late in re-draft leagues while LeBron James and Kevin Love will be major ball hogs. Tristan Thompson, JR Smith, Iman Shumpert and Kyle Korver will all see more looks with Thomas out.

Derrick Rose agrees to a one-year $2.1 million deal to join the Cleveland Cavaliers. Rose is expected to fill-in for Kyrie Irving, who seems as good as gone from Cleveland. (Source: Shams Charania on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Rose gets a boost going to Cleveland as the team is in need of a point guard after the Kyrie Irving news. Irving seems as good as gone so Rose is worth a late-round pick.

Category: , Transactions

Derrick Rose will make his decision between the Cavaliers, Lakers, Bulls or Bucks sometime next week. Rose could go to Cleveland if Kyrie Irving really goes get traded. However, the other teams already have young starting point guards in Lonzo Ball, Malcolm Brogdon, and Kris Dunn. (Source: Chris Haynes on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Rose's best option at this point, in fantasy terms, would be to sign with Cleveland due to Kyrie Irving's demand for a trade. Rose could play some shooting guard as well this season so his value is late-round worthy.

Derrick Rose prefers to re-sign with the Knicks this offseason, according to his agent B.J. Armstrong. Rose played 64 game this past season but couldn't finish the year out due to an ankle injury. The thing is the Knicks will look to get younger and build around Porzingis so Rose may not be retained. (Source: Bleacher Report)

Fantasy Impact: Rose was a decent fantasy option this past season, when healthy. Keep an eye on his destination as he's still worth a look in the middle-to-late of re-draft leagues.

Derrick Rose suffered a torn meniscus and will miss the rest of the season. Rose finishes the season with averages of 18.0 points, 4.4 assists, 3.8 rebounds per game on 47 percent shooting in 64 games. Ron Baker and Chasson Randle will close out the season at the point. (Source: Adrian Wojnarowski on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Rose will be a free agent this summer and a new destination seems likely for the former No.1 overall pick. Rose could land in Minnesota but we will have to wait and see. Rose can be dropped in all leagues with Kristaps Porzingis the player to own in New York.

Derrick Rose will not play on Sunday against the Boston Celtics with a knee injury. Ron Baker and Chasson Randle will split minutes at the point. (Source: Fred Kerber on Twitter)

Derrick Rose didn't play in Wednesday's action against the Heat due to left knee soreness. (Source: ESPN)

Fantasy Impact: Rose played two consecutive outings of 30-plus minute workload without issue but is seemingly having some residual knee soreness as a result. With him out of the picture on Wednesday and maybe Friday, Ron Baker and Justin Holiday will likely see the bulk of the workload at point guard.

Derrick Rose will not suit up against the Miami Heat on Wednesday due to soreness in his left knee. (Source: Knicks on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: With Rose out, Ron Baker should draw the start. He should get a long leash, with Chasson Randle backing him up. Rose should be able to play on Friday.

Derrick Rose scored 24 points, had five rebounds, and five assists in 36 minutes in a 106-98 loss to the Spurs.

Fantasy Impact: Derrick Rose on the season is averaging 17.9 points, 4.4 assists, and 3.8 rebounds a game. Rose looked pretty good in his return from a one-game absence, as he exceeded the 20-point mark for the fourth time so far this month. The 22 field goal attempts marked his highest total since Jan. 21 as he benefited from Carmelo Anthony's (knee) absence. Barring injuries, Rose is a good addition for owners seeking a combination of points, rebounds and assists to close out the season.

Derrick Rose is expected to play on Saturday but as always the available tag doesn't give much in terms of a minutes cap. We should see Ron Baker and Chasson Randle on Saturday. (Source: Knicks on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Rose is someone to avoid in daily against the Spurs. Porzingis is the top choice to play on the Knicks with Courtney Lee and Willy Hernangomez as intriguing daily plays.

Derrick Rose is listed as questionable for Saturday's game against the Spurs as is Carmelo Anthony. Check back again before tip off for an update. (Source: Al Iannazzone on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Owners will likely avoid both Anthony and Rose in daily and look at Kristaps Porzingis, Courtney Lee or Willy Hernangomez. If Rose is out, Ron Baker and Chasson Randle will see more minutes but neither are fantasy plays.

Derrick Rose scored 18 points, had four rebounds, and five assists in 28 minutes in a 114-105 loss to the Clippers.

Fantasy Impact: Rose on the season is averaging 17.8 points, 4.4 assists, and 3.9 rebounds a game. Rose is averaging 18.3 points with 4.3 assists and 4.3 rebounds over the past four outings. He isn't killing it from a fantasy perspective, but he is performing slightly better than his overall season averages lately. He and the Knicks will face a tough test Wednesday in Salt Lake City against the No. 1 scoring defense of the Jazz.

Category: , Game Recaps

Rose contributed 22 points, two rebounds and two assists across 33 minutes during Thursday's 121-110 loss to the Nets.

Fantasy Impact: Even with Thursday's 22-point performance, Rose hasn't been playing particularly well over the past four games, averaging 16.5 points on 42.9 percent from the field, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.5 assists across 32.3 minutes per game. Though fantasy owners likely weren't expecting great passing numbers from Rose this season, 2.5 assists per contest is a poor stretch by anyone's standards. In fact, he's only had one outing this season where he's tallied double-digit assists, dishing out 11 dimes Nov. 4 against the Bulls, his former team. He continues to be a solid producer of points for those who have him on their fantasy roster, but doesn't do it efficiently, or accumulate many other statistics.

Derrick Rose scored 26 points, had one rebound, and six assists in 39 minutes in a 104-93 loss to the Bucks.

Fantasy Impact: Derrick Rose on the season is averaging 17.9 points, 4.5 assists, and 3.9 rebounds a game. Rose was extremely efficient from the floor Wednesday, missing just three shots en route to tying his season-high for made field goals in a game at 13. The consecutive games of six assists is nice to see as well given he hasn't done much besides produce points for the Knicks this season, but he showed Wednesday night with his team-high scoring output why he needs to be owned in the majority of fantasy leagues.

Rose finished with 28 points, four assists, one rebound, and one steal across 35 minutes during Sunday's 112-105 loss to the Warriors.

Fantasy Impact: Rose had one of his best scoring outputs of the year - just two points short of his season-high of 30 but the Knicks couldn't get the victory over the up-tempo Warriors. He's had a nice stretch of 10 games since the beginning of February, averaging 16.7 points per game on 49.6 percent shooting. While Rose isn't a great source of fantasy production other than points - averaging just 4.4 assists and 4.0 rebounds to go along with his 17.7 points per game - he's still worth owning in the majority of fantasy formats.

Rose scored 19 points on 8-of-14 shooting, adding seven rebounds, four assists, and one steal in 33 minutes of Wednesday nights victory over the Orlando Magic.

Fantasy Impact: With the departure of Brandon Jennings, the Knicks are quite thin at the point guard position, making Rose's contributions that much more important. Rose is averaging 34 minutes a game following his return from an ankle injury giving a positive outlook on his fantasy value and production for at least the start of the second half of the season.

Derrick Rose scored 18 points, had five rebounds, and three assists in 36 minutes in a 110-109 win over the 76ers.

Fantasy Impact: Derrick Rose on the season is averaging 17.6 points, 4.4 assists, and 3.9 rebounds a game. He seems to be back in form after missing four games with an ankle injury in late January/early February, averaging 17.8 points, 4.7 assists and 4.2 boards over his last six contests. His lengthy history of knee trouble has robbed Rose of the explosiveness he flashed earlier in his career, but at 28 years old he can still be a solid contributor, both for the Knicks and for your fantasy roster.

The Knicks and Wolves are still engaged in discussions that would send Derrick Rose to Minnesota for Ricky Rubio. This is the most interest Rose has received but other teams could jump in. It looks more and more like Rose will reunite with his former coach Tom Thibodeau. (Source: Marc Stein on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: If this trade was to be accepted, both guards are still valuable and will provide the stats they did for their previous teams. Rubio will be passing to Carmelo and Porzingis while Rose will look to add another scoring option alongside Wiggins and Towns.

The Minnesota Timberwolves have reportedly discussed potential trades with the Knicks regarding Derrick Rose. Sources also report that other teams have also inquired about Rose's availability. (Source: ESPN)

Fantasy Impact: Rose will become a free agent after the season which makes him a viable trade target before the Thursday deadline. A move to Minnesota would reunite him with his former coach in Chicago, Tom Thibodeau. If Rose is dealt to Minnesota he would need to contend for playing time with Ricky Rubio at the point or be forced into minutes at shooting guard with Zach LaVine lost for the season which could hurt is overall fantasy value. Rose is averaging 17.7 points and 4.5 assists per game this season.

Derrick Rose is viewed by teams as available in a potential trade before the deadline. The Knicks could become sellers at the trade market especially if Carmelo Anthony waives his no-trade clause. (Source: ESPN.com)

Fantasy Impact: If Rose is dealt, his fantasy value could take a hit depending on the location. The teams are unknown to have interest but there are plenty of teams looking to upgrade at point guard including the Cavaliers, Pistons and Nuggets. Brandon Jennings would benefit the most if Rose is dealt.

Derrick Rose with a ankle injury was limited at practice Friday and is listed as questionable for Saturday's game against the Cavaliers. (Source: ESPN)

Fantasy Impact: According to Iannazzone, coach Jeff Hornacek didn't express much confidence that Rose would be in action Saturday, so he's more realistically doubtful for Saturday, despite the official designation. The point guard has missed the previous three games with a sprained left ankle, and unless he makes dramatic improvement ahead of Saturday's morning shootaround, look for Brandon Jennings to pick up another start at point guard, with Ron Baker serving as his top backup.

Derrick Rose will miss Tuesday's game against the Wizards and will likely miss Wednesday as well against the Nets. Brandon Jennings is looking at least two more starts after starting on Sunday for the injured Rose. Ron Baker should see more run. (Source: Al Iannazzone on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Jennings has been worth an add for Rose owners but now is a solid streamer and worthy add in 12-team leagues with Rose's health a question mark. Jennings should be fired up in DFS play with two favorable matchups and high-scoring games.

Derrick Rose with an ankle injury was ruled on Sunday against the Hawks. (Source: ESPN)

Fantasy Impact: Rose initially suffered the sprained left ankle during Friday's game against the Hornets and was listed as doubtful heading into Sunday, so it's not too surprising that he'll sit out for the sixth time this season. The point guard was wearing a walking boot Sunday, and coach Jeff Hornacek went on to suggest that Rose is considered unlikely to play in the upcoming back-to-back set Tuesday against the Wizards and Wednesday against the Nets, according to Popper. As such, Rose doesn't profile as a great lineup option in most leagues this week, while Brandon Jennings could be a source of some short-term value in deeper or mid-sized fantasy leagues. Look for Jennings to enter the starting lineup in Rose's stead Sunday while Ron Baker serves as his top backup.

Derrick Rose did not return to Friday's game against the Hornets after spraining his ankle. (Source: ESPN)

Fantasy Impact: Fortunately, X-rays on the ankle came back negative, but it was serious enough to keep him returning to the game. He tallied 13 points (5-10 FG, 3-3 FT), two rebounds, four assists, and two steals across 21 minutes before sustaining the injury. Brandon Jennings will presumably run the show at point guard with Rose sidelined. His next chance to play will be Sunday against the Hawks.

Derrick Rose scored 18 points, had four rebounds, and nine assists in 32 minutes in a 108-107 loss to the Hawks.

Fantasy Impact: Derrick Rose on the season is averaging 17.5 points, 4.5 assists, and 3.8 rebounds a game. Since going AWOL for the Knicks' January 9th loss to the Pelicans, Rose quickly made amends with the organization and has immediately asserted himself as the top offensive option after Carmelo Anthony while Kristaps Porzingis (Achilles) has missed the last three contests. In his four outings since the no-show, Rose is averaging 19.0 points (on 54.2% shooting), 4.8 assists and 3.0 rebounds in 31.8 minutes per game. The nine assists he delivered Monday should be treated as an outlier, but Rose will likely be a value option in DFS contests until Porzingis returns to action.

Derrick Rose scored 25 points, had two rebounds, and four assists in 32 minutes in a 98-97 loss to the 76ers.

Fantasy Impact: Derrick Rose on the season is averaging 17.5 points, 4.4 assists, and 3.9 rebounds a game. After missing Monday's embarrassing loss to the Pelicans with an unexcused absence to tend to a family issue, Rose cleared the air with team officials Tuesday and took part in practice. He was assessed an undisclosed fine for failing to show up for the game Monday, but it appears he otherwise repaired his relationship with the organization, as he received a normal minutes load Wednesday and turned in one of his more efficient shooting outings of the season. Rose's lack of three-point production and assists relative to most starting point guards around the league renders him little more than a middle-tier fantasy option at the position, but he'll still be a fairly stable source of scoring in most leagues while providing a passable field-goal percentage. More importantly than anything else, it looks as though he'll continue to run as a starter going forward, temporarily eliminating any concern that he might lose his role on the top unit to Brandon Jennings following the one-game hiatus.

Derrick Rose will start on Wednesday against the Magic after missing the previous game under suspicious circumstances. It turns out that he flew back to Chicago to see his son. Nevertheless, Rose was only fined and has not been suspended. Brandon Jennings will come off the bench. (Source: Frank Isola on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: It remains to be seen what happens with Rose and the Knicks moving forward as they have been a disappointment. Rose among others could be traded before the deadline. Even if Rose doesn't get traded, Brandon Jennings is worth an add.

Derrick Rose was present at shootaround but then disappeared and didn't come back for Monday's game against the Pelicans. Knicks officials eventually heard from Rose after the team's loss to New Orleans and he is reportedly doing fine. It remains to be seen what Phil Jackson and the Knicks brass will do with Rose. They could suspend him, trade him or elect to buyout his contract. Rose has been upset with the fact that Ron Baker has closed out games for him lately. (Source: NY Daily News)

Fantasy Impact: We will have to wait-and-see what happens with Rose moving forward to determine his fantasy outlook. Regardless, Brandon Jennings needs to be owned and would be a solid daily play the rest of the way if Rose is moved. It's time to sell on Rose and see what you can get for him.

WOW. Out of nowhere, Derrick Rose has been ruled out for Monday just prior to tip-off with undisclosed reasons so far. Brandon Jennings will start in his place.

Fantasy Impact: It's a huge blow to fantasy owners especially with Rose in a more than favorable matchup. Jennings is a solid play with Courtney Lee getting more looks.

Fantasy Impact: Derrick Rose on the season is averaging 17.7 points, 4.4 assists, and 4.1 rebounds a game. Since missing a couple of games earlier in the month with a sore back, Rose has looked sharp, scoring 20 or more in five of six games while averaging 22.5 points, 4.7 boards and 4.3 assists per game. He's picked up some of the scoring slack while Carmelo Anthony deals with a sore knee, but the 16-17 Knicks have to hope Rose can stay this productive even when Carmelo is back to 100 percent.

Rose recorded 26 points, seven rebounds, and six assists in 43 minutes of action in a 102-98 loss to the Hawks Wednesday night.

Fantasy Impact: Rose wasn't particularly efficient this night, shooting 9-of-28 and missing both of his three-point attempts, but it was the second time he's scored 25 points in as many games. The month of December has been good to Rose when he's played full strength. He's scored over 20 points in each of the six games he's recorded over 30 minutes of action, giving him a high floor when healthy.

Derrick Rose looked like vintage Derrick Rose on Christmas Day against the Celtics. Getting to the basket at will and scoring 25 points in a close 119-114 loss. Rose added five rebounds and three assists.

Fantasy Impact: Rose has been playing really well lately since coming back from a minor injury scoring at least 19 points in all three games. Rose continues to get to the basket at will and is gelling well with Brandon Jennings. Look for him to be solid the rest of the way if healthy.

Rose had missed the last two games with back spasms but didn't miss a beat across 36 minutes against Indiana. As long as Rose can stay healthy he has proven that he can be an effective force for the Knicks.

Fantasy Impact: Derrick Rose did travel with them on the current road trip so he may be able to play on Sunday against the Lakers. Brandon Jennings will get the start on Friday and is a solid play in season long leagues and daily play.

Derrick Rose scored ten points, two, rebounds, three assists, and had two steals before leaving in the third quarter of Tuesday night's win over the Heat with back spasms.

Fantasy Impact: Rose will be evaluated before Wednesday night's game versus the Cavaliers. This is absolutely a situation to monitor going forward, as the cause of his back spasms are currently unknown.

Vintage Derrick Rose was on display, slicing through the defense like a knife through butter, Rose was mostly unstoppable for the 34 minutes he played, scoring 24 points, five rebounds, five assists, while also adding a steal.

Fantasy Impact: Shooting an incredibly efficient 9-of-15, and getting the free throw line ten times, this was Mr. Hyde from Thursday night's Dr. Jeckel, as owners of Rose will continue to experience the ebb and flow of Rose's game. Derrick Rose is averaging 16.8 points, 4.8 assists, and 4.2 rebounds per game this season.

Derrick Rose struggled to get his offense going the entire game, shooting 5-of-12 from the field while committing two turnovers in 24 minutes.

Fantasy Impact: Eventually replaced by Brandon Jennings, this was an ugly one for Rose. The opportunities will remain there for Rose to a viable fantasy starter, but there will be nights like this for him from time to time so owners should expect to temper expectations while he becomes more comfortable with the offense. Rose is averaging 16.4 PPG, 4.8 APG, and 4.1 RPG to this point.

Derrick Rose looked awesome on Monday night. Rose scored 30 points, had four assists, and grabbed seven rebounds. Rose has slowly looked more comfortable in a Knicks uniform throughout this season.

Fantasy Impact: Rose is getting opportunities to score. That is very important. He may not have as many as he once he did, but a few things factor into that: his injuries, age, and playing with Carmelo Anthony and Kristaps Porzingis. Rose will definitely compete and as long as he stays healthy, he will end up finishing as a top 15 point guard this season.

The Knicks beat Portland 107-103 on Tuesday to bring their record to .500. Derrick Rose played well over 28 minutes. He scored 18 points while adding four rebounds, five assists, two steals and a block. He only turned the ball over once.

Fantasy Impact: Rose is a solid fantasy option in yearly and daily. He has decent peripherals and helps in both category and points leagues. He is second on the team in usage and is always a value in DFS. He will face Kemba Walker and the Hornets on Friday. The Hornets are middle of the road against the point guard position and Rose should be in play for at least DFS on Friday.

Derrick Rose scored 11 points with six assists, four rebounds, and one three-pointer in Friday's 115-87 loss to the Celtics.

Fantasy Impact: He was really inefficient, shooting 3-of-10 from the field with seven turnovers. Rose has played decent in his previous seven games with averages of 16.0 points, 4.7 assists, and 4.3 boards, but he also has 2.4 turnovers and has hit only three triples on the season. So far so good if you drafted him really late.

Derrick Rose had 15 points, 11 assist, and seven rebounds in 38 min in a 117-104 win over the Bulls.

Fantasy Impact: Derrick Rose so far on the season is averaging 16 points, 4.2 assists, and 4.6 rebounds a game. Rose isn't shooting threes or getting to the free throw line, so almost all his scoring has had to come from two-pointers. That's a pretty old-school style of game, but Rose does have at least 13 points in every game, and he's averaging a steal per game.

Derrick Rose scored 19 points on 8-for-17 shooting, adding five rebounds, two assists, and a block in 32 minutes during Tuesday's 102-89 loss to the Pistons.

Derrick Rose scored 17 points on opening night against the Cavaliers but committed four turnovers. Rose added three rebounds, one assist and one block. Rose has averaged about 3 turnovers per game in his career.

Derrick Rose has been cleared of all claims filed against him in a civil sexual assault lawsuit. (Source: Julia Marsh on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Fantasy owners can now safely draft Rose without concern. Jeff Hornacek has already stated that Rose will be the starter as long as there were no legal issues keeping him from the court. Rose does still have some injury history so Brandon Jennings could still hold sleeper value at the end of a draft, but don't expect that value to come to fruition right away at this point.

The Bulls sent hometown grown PG Derrick Rose packing on Wednesday along with G Justin Holiday and a 2017 second round pick to the New York Knicks for C Robin Lopez, PG Jose Calderon and G Jerian Grant.

Fantasy Impact: The trade doesn't seem like much for the Bulls, but again Rose turns 28 in a couple months and hasn't played much due to devastating injuries the last couple of years. His expiring $21 million contract was sent packing after it is clear that he wasn't going to re-sign with the Bulls. Chicago moved on and now they pick up a mid-pack big man in Lopez, an expiring contract in veteran Calderon and a promising two-guard in Grant, a guy they liked a lot in last year's draft. Rose is a big name and the Bulls didn't get many back in return. But the rebuild in Chicago is on.

Fantasy Impact: The rumors have been going on for a while now that Rose would be moved and the time has now come. The Knicks filled a hole as their point guard situation in recent years has been mediocre at best. This move could just be what Rose needs to get a fresh start after multiple injury-riddled seasons.

After landing the No. 14 overall selection in next month's NBA Draft, the Bulls have a lottery pick and are in a good spot to land a rising athlete.

Fantasy Impact: PF Domontas Sabonis (Gonzaga),SG Furkan Korkmaz (Turkey), SF Timothe Luwawu (Serbia), SG Denzel Valentine (Michigan State) and PG Tyler Ulis (Kentucky) are just a few names that make sense at No. 14 overall.

Derrick Rose wasn't able to return for the second half of Thursday's contest due to a left elbow contusion. Rose told reporters that he's not able to extend his arm without discomfort. (Source: ESPN)

Fantasy Impact: Rose should be monitored moving forward as the team could opt to play it safe with the fragile guard.

The Bulls are fighting for the final playoff spot and find themselves currently one game back of Detroit. Losing to New York on Wednesday did not help their cause. Derrick Rose had a good offensive performance, but it was not enough. Rose scored 21 points and shot better than 50 percent from the floor. He also added four assists and three rebounds.

Fantasy Impact: Rose has been great for fantasy owners. He has hit or exceeded value consistently on DFS. His return over his yearly ADP has been exponentially great and he is a must start. He has returned top-75 value consistently since the end of January. Is it too soon to think the old Rose is finally back?

Derrick Rose and the Bulls have strung together three wins to find themselves in the last playoff spot. Rose has been a big reason for their recent success. In their win over the Kings, Rose shot 9-15 from the floor and finished with 18 points. Rose added to his stat line by grabbing five rebounds and dishing out four assists.

Fantasy Impact: Rose has been great since February. He is averaging close to 20 points over the last two months. Rose has looked more like himself over the last few months and has returned great value compared to his ADP. Rose has been a bright spot for the Bulls who have been plagued by injury this season. He is a must play in yearly and a almost a must play in DFS based on his cost.

Derrick Rose returned to action on Wednesday. However, he did not look great. He was 7-19 from FG range and turned the ball over four times. He finished with 16 points, three rebounds, four assists, two steals and a blocked shot.

Fantasy Impact: Rose needs to shoot the ball better than he did on Wednesday. He is still a solid option and should be in your lineup when he plays. Look to use him as a mid-level option in DFS too. His scoring has been on the rise and is averaging 20 points since February. If the Bulls want to make the playoffs, they need Rose to be more efficient.

Derrick Rose will not play tonight versus the Toronto Raptors due to a nagging groin injury. (Source: Josh Lewenberg on Twitter)

Derrick Rose will not play Friday against Miami with an adductor strain. Justin Holiday will start in his place. (Source: Nick Friedell on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Another day, another Rose injury. To be fair Rose suffered the injury just last night, so it was expected he would take a rest. With Jimmy Butler and Rose out, Pau Gasol will take on the role as the main scoring option Friday. Holiday is not an excellent choice in fantasy, despite the start, due to Aaron Brooks, Tony Snell, and E'Twaun Moore taking up a good chunk of the backcourt minutes.

The Bulls continue to struggle defensively. They played inconsistent basketball against the Spurs on Thursday. Derrick Rose finished with a decent stat line, but it was not enough as the Bulls lost 101-109. Rose ended the game with 21 points, six assists and three rebounds in 36 minutes.

Fantasy Impact: Derrick Rose has been a pleasant fantasy option in 2016. He is once again averaging more than 20 points a game and returning great value compared to his ADP at the beginning of the year. Rose should be confidently used any night he plays and is a fantastic value option for DFS.

Rose scored a team-high 22 points on 9-for-18 shooting from the field including two three-pointers in the Bulls 100-90 win over the Bucks. Rose also dished out seven assists with one rebound and one steal in his 39 minutes of playing time.

Fantasy Impact: Rose continues to flourish when Jimmy Butler is out of the lineup. In nine games this season without Butler, Rose is averaging 20.7 points, 4.2 rebounds and 5.8 assists per game. Rose is a strong DFS play anytime Butler is out.

Chicago cannot stop anyone and they are not scoring enough either. Derrick Rose and the Bulls lost to Orlando 102-89 on Wednesday. Rose had a decent stat line. He finished with 16 points, four rebounds, six assists and a steal. He only turned the ball over twice.

Fantasy Impact: Rose has been returning great value since February. He is a must start in yearly and makes for a great value option in DFS. He is averaging over 20 points per game and is playing like a top-50 fantasy player as of late. Consider using Rose in DFS as long as his price tag does not skyrocket.

Derrick Rose had been playing well before missing the last three games with hamstring soreness. He returned to action against the Heat on Tuesday. Although he scored 17 points, Rose did not contribute in other areas. He struggled at the line and finished with three assists, no rebounds and three turnovers.

Fantasy Impact: Rose had been climbing up the fantasy rankings. He is still a strong option and should be used anytime he starts. He is a good, mid-range value option in DFS too. In February, Rose was averaging 21.9 points per game and was looking more and more explosive and dominant.

This was not the way the struggling Bulls hoped to start after the All-Star Break. Cleveland dominated Chicago from beginning to end. Derrick Rose had a good individual night. He scored 28 points and grabbed seven rebounds. He also added two assists.

Fantasy Impact: Rose was shooting the ball well Thursday night. He shot almost 58 percent from the floor. Rose has been more explosive over the last month and is becoming a fantasy asset. He is a great option in DFS too.

Derrick Rose had a one game absence on Monday due to general soreness. He returned Wednesday and had a non-dominant performance. With Jimmy Butler out, Rose only scored 14 points and handed out only three assists.

Fantasy Impact: Rose should be consistently playing better with Jimmy Butler on the shelf. He is still a solid DFS option with his salary relatively low on most sites, but his value in yearly is much lower. He should still be owned in all leagues based on his minutes and usage, but do not expect Rose to be the reason you make your fantasy playoffs.

Derrick Rose out on Monday

By Dale Redman

Bulls point guard Derrick Rose will not play Monday due to general soreness. Kirk Hinrich will start in his place. Rose should be considered questionable for Wednesday. (Source: Vincent Goodwill on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Rose has had his share of bumps and bruises this season as he has missed six games already. Hinrich does not make for a great fantasy option as he has averaged less than four points per game this year. Aaron Brooks will see extended action as well.

Derrick Rose scored 14 points with four assists, three rebounds, one steal, and one block in the Bulls 105-96 loss to the Jazz.

Derrick Rose scored 12 points with four rebounds, four assists, and one block in the Bulls 96-83 win over the Cavaliers.

Fantasy Impact: D-Rose went 5-for-21 in a game where his shot just wasn't there. The positive spin is that he can now take 21 shots in a game in which they are not going into the hoop. Rose will continue to be in the tier below the elite fantasy guard yet capable of scoring like one on any given night.

Derrick Rose scored 29 points with two assist and one rebound in the Bulls 125-94 loss to the Warriors.

Fantasy Impact: D-Rose seemed to be the only player on the bulls able to keep up the the Warriors pace....even though he had to take himself out of the game to catch his breath. Rose has been on a tear lately and pretty much sustains his value in multiple formats when healthy.

Derrick Rose scored 18 points with four rebounds, two assists, and two steals in the Bulls 83-77 loss against the Mavericks.

Fantasy Impact: Rose's play was one of the few bright spots on an otherwise lackluster performance by the Bulls. Rose has turned it up lately and continues to be a solid fantasy play.

Derrick Rose finished with nine points, one rebound, three assists and a steal. He left in the fourth quarter with an apparent knee injury. He missed time throughout the game as he rode a stationary bike and rubbed a device on his knee to try and loosen things up. Rose said the team and he are just being cautious. He said his knee just did not feel right. He will be reevaluated on Wednesday. (Source: ESPN)

Fantasy Impact: This is not good news. Rose is not the MVP player he was in the past, but he will be needed for the Bulls to compete late in the playoffs. Rose is not a guy you can just drop. Hopefully you have an injured player spot on your roster, if not you will have to wait and see how many games Rose might miss.

Derrick Rose scored 23 with one assist and one steal in the Bulls 114-100 loss to the Wizards.

Fantasy Impact: D-Rose was aggressive in attacking the hoop all game long. With other legitimate scoring options at the other positions, this is who he is in fantasy in 2016.

Derrick Rose underwent a precautionary MRI on his right knee to determine if there was more extensive damage behind the soreness he was experiencing. Rose and the Bulls received good news when it was determined that the guard isn't dealing with structural damage in his sore knee. Rose will be a game-time decision for Tuesday's contest against the Bucks, according to the team. (Source: ESPN)

Fantasy Impact: Rose has been sidelined with hamstring soreness, but he admitted over the weekend that his knee also hasn't been right. The positive report can allow the team to breath easier, but it remains unclear how the injury will impact Rose when he returns. Fantasy owners will want to continue to monitor the situation surrounding the always-fragile Rose.

Derrick Rose scored 25 points with five rebounds and four assists in 118-111 loss to the Mavericks.

Fantasy Impact: D-Rose had his best game of the year on 12-for-20 shooting. He's starting to build confidence again as a difference maker. Rose isn't at his MVP level, but is still a solid fantasy guard.

Derrick Rose scored 19 points with four rebounds and one assist in the 105-96 win.

Fantasy Impact: D-Rose put up a decent stat line before fouling out of the game. No longer physical able to dominate games, he can still help your fantasy team if you are realistic with expectations.

Derrick Rose scored eight points with five assists, four rebounds, and two steals in the 105-102 loss to the Nets.

Fantasy Impact: D-Rose had a low scoring night but contributed in other areas to avoid a total wash. Don't let this game discourage you, but keep expectations tempered when putting him in your lineups.

Derrick Rose scored 34 points with eight assists, four assists, and one steal in a 147-143 loss to the Pistons.

Fantasy Impact: D-Rose shot a season high 34 times in the four overtime marathon. He's back to his former self with an added assists bonus. Until Mr. Glass breaks again, enjoy the experience and keep him in your lineups.

Derrick Rose scored 19 points with five assists, two rebounds and one steal Wednesday night.

Fantasy Impact: This is your last call on a D-Rose buy low trade window. His vision is improving daily from the orbital fracture he sustained. He's set to reward owners that were smart enough to hold on.

Category: , Game Recaps

Derrick Rose scores six points, four assists, and one rebound in the Bulls 115-96 win over the Sixers.

Fantasy Impact: D-Rose took only three shots in 26 minutes of play. He's clearly a shell of his former superstar self. Until he starts stringing good games together, don't fall into the name trap.

Category: , Game Recaps

Derrick Rose scores nine points, three rebounds, three assists and one steal in the Bulls 97-94 win over the Pelicans.

Fantasy Impact: New haircut, no mask, similar results. The talent is there, but until D-Rose shows more on a nightly basis, he is not a top tier fantasy play.

Category: , Game Recaps

Derrick Rose did not have a good night shooting. All of that seemed to change when he took off his orbital fracture mask in the second half. He was more aggressive and made many key shots. He finished with 11 points, but nine of those points were scored in the second half. He was 5-11 from the floor. He also finished with three rebounds, two assists, a steal and three turnovers as the Bulls held off the Clippers 83-80.

Fantasy Impact: Rose has not been scoring much this year. His numbers are down and he is not attacking the basket enough. Tonight was a good sign. It will be interesting to see if the mask played a part in it, but more likely it has to do with confidence. As Rose continues to play this year, his numbers should improve. The problem with Rose has always been his injury concern. He is still a top 100 player in the NBA and should be starting on most rosters. He can make for an interesting flyer in DFS at times too.

Derrick Rose scored 12 points, two rebounds, six assists, and one block in a 105-100 loss to the Celtics.

Fantasy Impact: Clearly all of the surgeries have taken a toll on D-Rose. Temper your expectations and think of him as a third guard/utility option.

Derrick Rose and the Bulls topped Denver 99-90 on Wednesday. However, Rose struggled to find his shot. He finished with 12 points, but was 3-17 from the floor. He did do well at handing out nine assists. He also finished with two rebounds and two turnovers.

Fantasy Impact: Rose is a must-own player, but he is not the player he was before the knee injuries. His shooting percentages are down, and one must wonder if that has to do with his double-vision. Rose is someone to start every night in leagues who do not have a shooting percentage category. Hopefully, as his vision heals his percentages and points will go back up to his career averages.

Category: , Game Recaps

Derrick Rose struggled to find his shot on Monday. He was 5-17 shooting and only finished with 11 points. Rose also added six assists and four rebounds.

Fantasy Impact: Rose is no longer a top fantasy point guard, but he does enough on the stat sheet to be owned in all leagues. He will hurt you in the turnover and percentages categories, but adds enough to other categories to be used every night the Bulls play.

Derrick Rose is on pace to play in Tuesday night's game against the Blazers. He is coming off a sprained left ankle and has not played in two games since injuring himself in a victory over Indiana. (Source: CBS Chicago)

Fantasy Impact: Derrick Rose claimed to have been experiencing some fatigue, which might hinder his performance against Portland. The probability of him seeing limited minutes is large, so it would be best to explore other options when determining a starting five.

According to HC, Fred Hoiberg, Derrick Rose is extremely doubtful for Wednesday night's game against the Suns. Kirk Hinrich is likely to get the start. (Source: Nick Friedell on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: The Bulls will probably play a rotation with Hinrich, Aaron Brooks and E'Twaun Moore all seeing increased minutes. Brooks has the most short-term fantasy potential until Rose returns.

Derrick Rose tweaked his ankle on Monday against the Pacers. Rose led the team with 23 points and shot the ball well despite his reported double-vision. Rose added two rebounds and six assists. Unfortunately, his status for Wednesday is now uncertain.

Fantasy Impact: Rose continues with injury issues. Look for Aaron Brooks to see an uptick in minutes if Rose misses any time. He has not shot the ball well, but this game looked to be a turning point for Rose. Unfortunately, he was injured and it will be difficult for him to build on this game. Rose is still an asset in fantasy and should be in your lineup every night he plays.

The Bulls dominated the 76ers with multiple guys scoring double-digits. Derrick Rose was one of those guys as he scored 12 points on 6-14 shooting. Rose finished with five rebounds, a steal and a team leading seven assists.

Fantasy Impact: Rose has been inconsistent this year. He is only averaging 13 points and 5.6 assists per game. If Rose can improve his scoring numbers closer to 20 points per game and his assist numbers closer to seven per game, then he will be the steal of most fantasy drafts this year. He should still be owned in all formats. He makes an interesting DFS option and can help many fantasy teams on a nightly basis.

Derrick Rose had his best game of the year on Thursday. He lead the team in scoring with 29 points. He was attacking the basket and shot almost 50 percent from the floor. Rose also dished out seven assists and grabbed five rebounds. His only downside was two turnovers.

Fantasy Impact: Rose outperformed his counterpart, Russell Westbrook in this game. He had a rough going the last three games, but stepped it up on Thursday. Rose is still a must start in fantasy, just be prepared for some duds in-between games like this one.

Derrick Rose did not shoot the ball well on Tuesday. He was 2-8 from the field and finished with four points. He could not get much going. His best stat line was his five assists. He also added two rebounds.

Fantasy Impact: Rose has struggled to find his shot. The former MVP has not scored more than 10 points in his last three games. It is hard to sit Rose if you have him, but you might want to look at a more consistent fantasy option until Rose proves he can regularly put up numbers.

Chicago Bulls PG Derrick Rose failed to score double-digits in his second straight game. Rose added only six points, but added eight assists and seven rebounds in Sunday's win over Orlando.

Fantasy Impact: He played 32 minutes, shooting 2-of-8 from the field, 0-of-1 from 3-point land and 2-of-2 from the FT line. Rose is contributing on the glass and with his distributing. His shots aren't falling right now and that certainly has to do with his eye, but his game should improve.

The Bulls lost their first game of the season in an overtime loss to the Pistons. Derrick Rose struggled shooting the ball. He only scored eight points. He was 4-13 from the floor, dished out six assists, and grabbed two rebounds.

Fantasy Impact: Rose has been decent thus far, but this game was a disappointment. Rose struggled to find his shot. Eight points is way below what fantasy owners were expecting. The only positive is his six assists. Rose is still an every night player and should be starting whenever the Bulls play.

Chicago Bulls PG Derrick Rose added 15 points in 29 minutes on the floor in Wednesday night's road win over the Nets.

Fantasy Impact: He shot an effective 5-of-11 from the field. Rose connected on all five of his FT attempts and missed his lone 3-point try. He also dished out three assists, added two rebounds and a block. Rose is playing very well to start the year.

Chicago Bulls PG Derrick Rose played the second-most minutes behind only Jimmy Butler with 32 in Tuesday's season-opening win over the Cavs. Rose scored 18 points on 8-of-22 shooting from the floor.

Fantasy Impact: It wasn't easy for Rose as he missed some easy shots but having him back on the court in a full-time capacity is huge for the Bulls and first-year head coach Fred Hoiberg. He shot 0-of-2 from 3-point land and 2-of-4 from the FT line as he added five assists, a rebound and a steal. It should get better for Rose as he continues to play more.

Chicago Bulls PG Derrick Rose made his preseason debut Friday night after sitting out the entire schedule following his orbital fracture that he suffered on Oct. 29. Rose played an effective 10 minutes, adding eight points and an assist on 4-6 shooting.

Fantasy Impact: He didn't get the start, but just seeing Rose out there is huge for his confidence and the Bulls' chances of having him in the opener next Tuesday against the Cavaliers. It sure looks like Rose will be able to go for the home season opener. At this point, it's anyone's guess of how many minutes he'll play.

Chicago Bulls PG Derrick Rose participated in the shootaround of last night's game and took shots with his mask on after today's practice. However, Nick Friedell of ESPNChicago reports Rose could miss the entire first week of the season. (Source: ESPN)

Fantasy Impact: Rose said his eye feels good, but it's still swollen. He isn't sure when he will take contact again, but he said he's simply happy it's not his knees. The Bulls open the regular season on Oct. 27 at home against Cleveland before traveling to Brooklyn and Detroit and then returning home for a matchup with Orlando. All of those game's are in the first week of the season. More updates to come on Rose's status moving forward.

Chicago Bulls PG Derrick Rose underwent surgery repair a left orbital fracture on Wednesday following an accidental elbow to the face from a teammate in Tuesday's practice session. "All we know right now is Derrick went into the procedure this morning early, and the surgery went as expected," First-year Bulls head coach Fred Hoiberg said after Wednesday's practice. "He's in recovery now, but yeah, the surgery did go as expected." (Source: ESPN)

Fantasy Impact: The Bulls don't officially open the regular season until Oct. 27 against Cleveland, so Rose could potentially be back wearing a mask of some sorts for that game. However, time away during camp and the preseason stages will hurt his comfort level in a new offense under Hoiberg. "[The injury] sucks in a way," Bulls PF Pau Gasol said. "But he's a tough kid and hopefully he'll heal well and he'll be ready to go." More updates to come regarding Rose as he recovers from yet another tough injury. Luckily, this one appears to be less serious than his previous leg issues.

Chicago Bulls PG Derrick Rose reportedly took an elbow to the face in Tuesday's practice and now the team has sent out release informing that Rose will undergo surgery on a left orbital fracture. (Source: Cody Westerlund on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: This is a huge blow to the Bulls' chances to contend this seasonand to Rose's health that had appeared to be getting better this off-season. Leg injuries have hampered the PG, but now this latest face injury will hold him back. The timetable is unknown. Per KlapperPlasticSurgery.com, "in general, fractures that involve greater than 50% of the orbital floor area or greater than 30% of the floor in conjunction with large fractures of the medial wall are likely to cause the eye to sink backward or downward and will usually require repair." More updates to come on the latest Rose injury.

In a lawsuit filed by one of Derrick Rose's ex-girlfriend's on Wednesday, the girl named "Jane Doe" in the paperwork alleges that she was "gang raped" by Rose and two of his friends in August 2013. The woman claims the men placed a drug in her drink while out one night, then sexually assaulted her later after they broke into her apartment. She also claims she was in an "incapacitated state of consciousness." (Source: Chicago Tribune)

Fantasy Impact: Rose's spokeswoman Lisa Cohen said on Thursday that the Bulls PG had a long sexual relationship with the accuser, but also said in a statement that the woman's allegations in the lawsuit were "completely false and without any factual basis ... Two years have passed since Mr. Rose ended the consensual relationship with the plaintiff, and her claims are as meritless now as they were two years ago," Cohen said Thursday. "We have complete confidence that the case will be dismissed and that Mr. Rose will be vindicated. This lawsuit is outrageous." Rose joins Blackhawks star Patrick Kane as the second Chicago athlete under investigation for sexual assault this summer.

Hoiberg was introduced at the Advocate Center officially following in the footsteps of Tom Thibodeau. The 42-year-old inked a five-year, $25 million to become the 19th head coach in team history. (Source: Yahoo Sports)

Fantasy Impact: He served as the man in charge at Iowa State the last five seasons, compiling an 115-56 record with four NCAA tournament appearances. "I love this roster. I love the versatility of the players, the different lineups we're going to be able to play," Hoiberg said. "A lot of coaches don't walk into a roster that has championship potential in a city that we know." Hoiberg, who played for the Bulls (1999-03) is the third college coach in the last two seasons to move up to the NBA along with Boston's Brad Stevens and Oklahoma City's Billy Donovan.

The Chicago Bulls sent out a statement on Thursday annoucing that after five seasons of serving as the head coach he will not be retained with two years remaining on his current deal. (Source: Adam Jahns on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: This move was in the works for quite some time as Thibodeau clashed with both GM Gar Forman and team chairman Jerry Reinsdorf. Despite Thibodeau's impressive 255-139 record and assistance in five straight playoff appearances, the Bulls wanted to go in a different direction. Thibodeau's offensive playbook was old and his defensive strategies were top notch but wore his players down. In his first season (2010-11) as the Bulls coach, he led them to a 62-20 record and a trip to the Eastern Conference Finals. He will find a job real soon as he is still one of the best as long the higher ups can gel with him. The Bulls are now on the market for a new head coach, but it might not be that easy to replace a guy like Thibodeau.

Rose scored 14 points along with six assists and two rebounds in 36 minutes in Thursday's Game 6 loss.

Fantasy Impact: He shot 7-16 from the field and 0-3 from 3-point land. He didn't take a single free throw something coach Tom Thibodeau says because Rose is so strong and has pure speed its tough for the referees to notice. He averaged 20.9 PPG and 6.5 APG in his first postseason since 2011. It was highest total of playoff games since 2010 when the Bulls reached the Eastern Conference Finals. Rose looks more like himself since his latest surgery. He is a top pick at PG next season.

Rose added 16 points, nine rebounds, seven assists, three steals and a block in a Game 5 loss to the Cavs on Tuesday.

Fantasy Impact: He shot just 7-24 from the field in a team-high 43 minutes. He didn't make a single 3-pointer, missing all four his attempts. Rose was only 1-11 from the field in the second half as a reported wrist/hand injury bothered him. Head coach Tom Thibodeau said Rose suffered a recurrence of the stinger and "I guess he'll be fine", per K.C. Johnson.

Rose scored 31 points along with four assists and two rebounds in Sunday's 86-84 Game 4 loss. His point total was his highest since he scored 34 in a Game 3 win in the first round against the Bucks.

Fantasy Impact: He shot an effective 11-23 from the field and 2-5 from 3-point land in 41 minutes. He made all seven of his free throw attempts and made big shots all night as he's averaging 20.3 PPG and 6.8 APG in the playoffs. Rose added seven of the team's 16 fourth quarter points. That included the game-tying layup with nine seconds left. Rose is doing it all for the Bulls in this second round series against the Cavs.

Rose hit the game-winning 3-pointer with time expiring off the glass. It was a shot of beauty as the Bulls edged by the Cavs 99-96 to win Game 3.

Fantasy Impact: He finished with a game-high 30 points along with seven assists, seven rebounds, a steal and a block in 39 minutes. Rose added 14 fourth-quarter points. He also got to the line for the first time in three games as he attacked often with 9-10 from the FT stride. He was just 10-26 from the field and 1-3 from 3-point line, the lone three being the winner, but he was confident and got better as the game went on. Rose is peaking at the right time. What a performance.

Rose had 14 points along with 10 assists, seven rebounds and a block in Wednesday night's Game 2 loss against Cleveland.

Fantasy Impact: He picked up his first double-double since Feb. 8. Rose shot just 6-20 from the field and 2-5 from 3-point land in 37 minutes. He also had four turnovers as the Bulls never led in Game 2. Rose has to bounce back in Game 3 on Friday night in Chicago.

Rose had 25 points along with five assists, five rebounds and a steal in the Game 1 win over the Cavaliers. He did suffer a shoulder injury on a hard screen and didn't play the final 30 seconds of the game, but claimed it was just a stinger in a postgame interview with TNT's Rachel Nichols.

Fantasy Impact: He looked like vintage Rose, connecting on clutch jumpers and playing very confident basketball. He made 11-26 from the field and 3-6 from 3-point land in 39 minutes. He made some big shots over LeBron James and was commanding the Bulls offense all night long.

Rose came out flat on Monday night and couldn't find his shot in Game 5 as the Bulls fell 94-88 to the Bucks at the United Center.

Fantasy Impact: He shot 5-20 from the field and 0-7 from 3-point land as he scored 13 points in 42 minutes. He added four rebounds, two assists and a steal, but turned the ball over a game-high six times and made some very poor decisions with his shot selection with the game on the line. Rose has to bounce back in Game 6 on Thursday on the road.

Rose led the way with a game-high 34 points as the Bulls defeated the Bucks in double-overtime in Game 3.

Fantasy Impact: He also recorded eight assists, five rebounds and three steals in 48 minutes on the floor. He shot 12-23 from the field and 5-9 from 3-point land as his 34 points were a season-high. He made one of two free throw attempts to tie the game up with four seconds left in the fourth quarter. Rose is playing strong and that is a scary good thing for the Bulls and his fantasy owners.

Derrick Rose played 38 minutes in Monday night's Game 2 win over the Bucks. He added 15 points, nine assists and seven rebounds. He played 27 minutes in Game 1, scoring 23 points. (Source: Nick Friedell on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Rose says he felt no soreness after the win and appears to be on track to play in the 30-35 minute range at least until the end of this series. Kirk Hinrich (knee) could be back for Game 3, so that could help on the back end. “I feel great today," Rose said regarding his Game 2 minute total. "As far as playing those minutes every game, we’ll have to see."

After shooting 0-7 in the first half with no points, Rose shot 2-7 from the field, 2-6 from 3-point land and 5-5 from the FT line in the second half on the way to 15 points in a Game 2 win over the Bucks.

Fantasy Impact: He played 38 minutes which was 11 more than his 27 in Game 1. He is clearly feeling more comfortable on the floor as he dished out nine assists, grabbed seven rebounds and added a block and a steal. Rose is making sure he is active even when he struggles with his shot.

Rose came up big Saturday night with 23 points, seven assists, two steals and a block in the Game 1 win over the Bucks.

Fantasy Impact: He finished the night shooting 9-16 from the field and 3-7 from 3-point line in 27 minutes. He had 12 points in first half which included 10 in the second quarter. He attacked the rim often in the first half and hit 3-4 from 3-point land in third quarter including two from five feet behind the line. "It felt good. I've been preparing for this for a long time. The energy was great," Rose said in his postgame interview with ESPN's Israel Gutierrez.

Rose added 13 points, seven assists and a steal in Monday night's win over Brooklyn.

Fantasy Impact: He played just 23 minutes since the Bulls led by so much which allowed him to sit out most of the second half. Rose shot 5-13 from the field and 2-4 from 3-point land. He appears to be 100% heading into the playoffs.

Derrick Rose adds 12 points in win

Fri, Apr 10th 12:23am EDT
By Jake Perper

Rose played in back-to-back nights and added 12 points, four rebounds and two assists in Thursday night's win over Miami.

Fantasy Impact: He played 20 minutes and shot 5-15 from the field and 0-3 from 3-point land. The Bulls host Philadelphia on Saturday before traveling to Brooklyn on Monday and ending the season at home against the Eastern Conference best Hawks on Wednesday. Expect Rose to see plenty of action in those matchups.

Rose played in his first game since Feb. 23 after recovering from his knee surgery. He added nine points, two assists, two rebounds and a steal in Wednesday night's 105-103 loss to Orlando.

Fantasy Impact: He shot 3-9 from the field and just 1-6 from the 3-point land in 19 minutes on the floor. The Bulls went 10-10 with Rose out of action, but fell to a bad Orlando team with him back on a limited fashion. He is worth owning, but not start worthy until the playoffs get underway.

Derrick Rose who would have hit the 6-week mark of his recovery on Friday and plans to return to the floor on Wednesday night in Orlando. He told Smith that the time off recovering from knee surgery will give him rested legs. (Source: Sam Smith on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: It remains to be seen how many minutes Rose will play initially, but with about a week left in the season it will be important to get him comfortable on the floor. Rose should see around 15-20 minutes with Aaron Brooks still earning key minutes. He is worth a start in fantasy leagues if your PG position is up in the air.

Derrick Rose has been taking full contact in practices since last Monday and he has been on track to return. During Sunday's broadcast of the Bulls-Cavs matchup, ESPN sideline reporter Lisa Salters revealed that his timeline for return is "likely sometime this week." (Source: ESPN)

Fantasy Impact: Rose's initial timetable was 4-6 weeks and this upcoming Friday marks the sixth week. The Bulls have five regular season games left and currently sit in the 3rd spot in the East. They play at Orlando on Wednesday, at Miami on Thursday and host Philadelphia on Saturday before traveling to Brooklyn the following Monday and finishing at home against Atlanta the 15th. Rose should be able to play in those final 2-3 games at the very least. He will likely be on a minutes restriction, but any playing time will help as the team heads into the playoffs with high hopes.

Rose, who has been out of action exactly one month after having a small piece of his right meniscus removed said that he should be able to take contact sometime this week or the next. (Source: K.C. Johnson on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: He said he doesn't have any soreness in his right knee and his initial timetable of 4-6 weeks could be beat. The Bulls finish up the regular season in Atlanta on April 15 with their final 10 games on tap. Rose is averaging 18.4 PPG and 5 APG this season with 20 games with 20+ points. He would be a nice boost to the Bulls and fantasy owners heading into the playoff push.

Fantasy Impact: Also, the Sun-Times reported that the surgery went well and Rose even walked out after the procedure was over with. The timetable given by Forman has Rose set up to possibly return for the final two games of the season at Brooklyn on April 13 and at home against Atlanta on April 15. He may be rested for the playoffs, but more will be known as he recovers from his second torn meniscus in his right knee in two seasons. This is probably the best news that Bulls fans and fantasy owners could have hoped for.

Rose is set to undergo surgery on the meniscus tear in his right knee on Friday morning by Dr. Brian Cole. Bulls vice president John Paxson said this on Thursday: "The hope is that (Rose) will play this season." (Source: K.C. Johnson on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: The timetable will certainly be revealed in the coming days if not first thing tomorrow morning with general manager Gar Forman set to address the media at 10:30 AM CT. Bulls fans and fantasy owners will be crossing their fingers with the hope that Rose can make it back for the playoffs.

CSN Chicago Bulls insider Vincent Goodwill reported that Bulls PG Derrick Rose will undergo surgery on Friday to repair the torn medial meniscus in his right knee. (Source: Vincent Goodwill on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: His official timetable to return isn't exactly known at this point, but he is likely done for the season. Bulls team doctor Brian Cole is performing the surgery and general manager Gar Forman is expected to meet with the media at 1030 AM CT. More news to come.

Derrick Rose to have surgery

Wed, Feb 25th 12:19am EST
By Clinton Ho

Rose has a torn meniscus in his right knee and will undergo surgery, the team said Tuesday. This is the same injury he suffered in November of 2013. (Source: ESPN)

Fantasy Impact: The timetable for Rose's return won't be determined until after his surgery. He hasn't been the same since he began suffering injuries and his numbers this season are near career lows in multiple categories. At this point, owners will have a tough time relying on Rose for a fantasy playoff push.

Rose added only eight points as he shot just 1-13 from the floor in Monday night's win over the Bucks. It marked the second time in three games that Rose was held under double digits.

Fantasy Impact: He dished out a team-high eight assists and grabbed five rebounds, but overall it was a disappointing night for Rose. He shot just 1-7 from the 3-point line. He will have off nights, but eventually Rose will be more consistent. At least that's the hope.

A night after adding just eight points, Rose scored 16 points, while adding five assists, four rebounds and a steal in Saturday night's win over the Suns.

Fantasy Impact: He is still not the consistent Rose we have seen when he was at his best, but stat lines like this will please owners somewhat. Start him because it's very unlikely he will play as poor as he did on Friday this season.

In Chicago's first game back from the All-Star Break they fell to Detroit 100-91 on the road. Rose added just eight points, two rebounds and two assists in 31 minutes.

Fantasy Impact: He shot 2-9 and failed to make a single shot in the second half. He missed two 3-pointers in the final minute of the game. Rose also led all players with six turnovers. He had scored over 20 points in four of his previous games prior to tonight. He will bounce back.

Rose scored a team-high 30 points in Thursday's win over the Cavaliers.

Fantasy Impact: He also played a team-high 41 minutes making 12-24 of his shots from the field. He had seven assists and four rebounds as well. Keep starting Rose in all leagues.

Derrick Rose scored 23 points on 59% shooing Tuesday against the Kings. He also dished seven assists with two steal and no turnovers.

Fantasy Impact: Rose owners shouldn't get their hopes up over the shooting percentage of this game as Derrick was able to do what he wanted against a limping Kings squad. It is good to see that he continues to improve every few weeks, and can still have big, efficient games. His long term value should remain close to where it is now until he gets his shot selection under control.

Rose added 23 points, seven assists, two steals, a rebound and a block in Tuesday night's 104-86 win over Sacramento.

Fantasy Impact: He shot 10-17 in 33 minutes and finished with a team-high +16. He is playing more complete basketball as of late and that bodes well for fantasy owners and the Bulls.

Rose had 10 points and 11 rebounds in Sunday night's win over Orlando.

Fantasy Impact: He shot just 4-14 in 35 minutes. It was his first double-double since Jan. 17, but his lowest output scoring wise since Jan. 7. The Bulls might be better off with games like this from Rose obviously fantasy owners wouldn't be though.

Derrick Rose scores 20 in win

Sat, Feb 7th 10:47pm EST
By Jake Perper

Rose tied Pau Gasol with a team-high 20 points in Saturday night's win.

Fantasy Impact: He also had four assists and two rebounds in 28 minutes. He shot 8-15 from the field and 2-5 from three-point land. This was one of his better performances as of late. He is a top 10 PG as of right now.

Rose had 23 points on 9-22 shooting from the field in Wednesday night's 101-90 loss to Houston.

Fantasy Impact: He played 38 minutes, while also adding four rebounds and two assists. He isn't living up to his full potential in terms of his shot, but he is still adding consistent points. Keep starting Rose with confidence.

Rose added a team-high 23 points in Friday night's 99-94 loss in Phoenix. He was one of three Bulls to score 20 or more points alongside Jimmy Butler, 22 and Aaron Brooks, 21.

Fantasy Impact: He was just 8-23 on the night from the field in 36 minutes, including 0-6 from 3-point land. But he was 7-9 from the FT line helping his stats. He also had five rebounds and three assists. He needs to improve his shot over the All-Star break.

Rose scored 17 points in Thursday's overtime loss to the Lakers. However, he shot just 7-26 from the field including 1-7 from 3-point land in 42 minutes.

Fantasy Impact: He also had five turnovers, two nights after producing a career-high 11. He added six assists, four rebounds and a steal. Rose has been more aggressive attacking the rim and pulling the trigger, but the Bulls need him to make his shots. He is struggling, but is still an effective fantasy starter.

Rose had a team-high 30 points on 13-33 shooting on the night, including the game-winner in overtime with seven seconds left. He also totaled seven rebounds and added an assist in 43 minutes as the Bulls beat the Warriors 113-111

Fantasy Impact: He showed he had his confidence back with leading scorer Jimmy Butler (illness) out. He was attacking minus the career-high 11 turnovers. Rose is averaging 22.2 PPG over his last 10 games. He is a must start as he regains his old form.

Rose was the only Bull to reach double digits in the first half. This comes after he recorded 10 of his 12 points in the first quarter. The Bulls trail 56-51 at the break in Golden State

Fantasy Impact: He shot 5-14 from the field in 16 minutes on the floor. He also has three rebounds. However, he has a game-high five turnovers. Without starters Jimmy Butler and Mike Dunleavy, Rose has to become a more prominent scorer alongside Pau Gasol. Look for him to turn it up in the second half.

Rose scored 22 points (9-16 FGs, 2-2 FTs) with five assists, two steals and two rebounds

Fantasy Impact: Rose played very well Thursday against the Spurs. He wasn't just relying on long jumpers or threes to score, but instead, getting to the basket and taking contact. He seems to add a facet of his old form every three weeks or so. If you are still worried about his health, selling high over the next few weeks could be a good strategy. Buying low could also be smart, if Rose continues to improve like he has. Once again, Rose is an enigma to fantasy owners.

Derrick Rose scored 23 points on 8-for-22 shooting in the Bulls loss to the Hawks on Saturday. He was able to contribute 10 assists, five rebounds, and four three-pointers.

Fantasy Impact: Rose has been getting more aggressive, and putting in stronger performances. Considering how bad his fantasy year has been so far, he could be considered a "buy low." He might not be much longer if he continues to improve.

Rose led the Bulls with 32 points on 12-22 shooting. He also had five assists and two rebounds in Chicago's fifth consecutive home loss to the Wizards, 105-99.

Fantasy Impact: At the end of the first quarter, Rose added a half-court shot to beat the buzzer as the Bulls led by six after one. But the Wizards came crawling back and without Joakim Noah defensively the Bulls struggled. It was Rose's second 30-point game this season and first since Dec. 12 against Portland.

Derrick Rose dished seven assists and snatched two steals while scoring 18 on 8-of-15 shooting Monday night against Orlando

Fantasy Impact: After sitting out the last game, Rose had a strong performance with the added rest. It is expected by now for the Bulls to give Rose some downtime for lingering bumps and bruises. If he can play like this after some rest, owners might not mind the time off. Rose's improvement has been slow and steady, expect him to continue to slowly add more aggression and polish to his game as he gets more comfortable with his post-injury style of play.

Derrick Rose had a poor shooting night going 3-of-15 with seven points and two assists.

Fantasy Impact: This was a really off night for all the Bulls. Rose has been attacking the basket more and more each game, but when nothing goes down for anyone, it is hard to get going. Rose's health and play have been making steady improvements all season, but progress has been very slow for fantasy owners. While this game was an outlier for the Bulls, Rose's poor shooting percentage should continue.

Rose added 17 points in Monday night's win over the Pacers. He was just 5-20 from the field on the night, but made all six of his FT attempts.

Fantasy Impact: He also dished out a team-high six assists in 34 minutes on the floor. Rose was guarded by Rodney Stuckey for most of the night and clearly struggled to find his shot. He still continues to look like him old self which is great for the Bulls and his fantasy owners.

Rose added a team-high 29 points on 12-19 shooting from the field in Monday night's 129-120 win. The Bulls added 49 points in the fourth quarter to beat the visiting Raptors.

Fantasy Impact: He looked solid especially in the second half as he started to get in a groove. Rose played 31 minutes, while backup guards Kirk Hinrich and Aaron Brooks combined for 20 points in over 20 minutes a piece. Rose is a great option as a PG1 when healthy. This could be his arrow moving up and his confidence.

Rose added a team-high 23 points on 8-15 shooting in Wednesday night's win over the visiting Nets.

Fantasy Impact: He docked over 24 minutes, adding four rebounds and four assists as well. Rose did turn the ball over five times, but overall it was an efficient night for him. Continue to start him when he is in the Bulls' starting lineup.

Rose returned from his hamstring tightness on Tuesday night in Denver to score 21 points on 9-18 shooting in 27 minutes. He also added four assists and four rebounds in Friday's win over Boston.

Fantasy Impact: He looked like himself for the most part as the Bulls limited his minutes with Kirk Hinrich and Aaron Brooks combining for 17 points in 37 minutes. Chicago wraps up the circus trip in Brooklyn on Sunday afternoon. Stay tuned for Rose's status. He should be able to go.

Rose played just under 10 minutes, scoring two points on 1-4 shooting before re-aggravating his left hamstring against the Nuggets. He will not return.

Fantasy Impact: Kirk Hinrich is playing through an injury and Aaron Brooks will see plenty of minutes the rest of the night. Stay tuned for more updates as Rose continues to hit the injury bug for the Bulls. Unlucky for him.

Rose (hamstring), PF Pau Gasol (calf) and PG Kirk Hinrich (chest) have all been ruled out against Portland on Friday night. (Source: K.C. Johnson on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: PG Aaron Brooks will draw his first start of the season and should be very busy as the Bulls play on back-to-back nights without two of their stars and a key cog in Hinrich. E'Twaun Moore will be active behind Brooks Friday. Brooks should be picked up if you need a last second starter at PG.

Derrick Rose will miss his third straight game with a strained left hamstring after Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau ruled him out during the shootaround Thursday morning. (Source: Chicago Tribune)

Fantasy Impact: Kirk Hinrich will draw the start with Aaron Brooks providing minutes off the bench. The Tribune is reporting Rose's injury is likely to extend until next week, so be prepared for a week long absence on this Circus Trip for the Bulls star.

Rose will miss his 2nd straight game to due a strained left hamstring and 6th game this season due to injury on Monday night against the Clippers. "There’s no need for anyone to play through injuries with the talent we have on this team," Rose said. "Just too bad it’s me. Try to get back out there as quick as possible, but wait until I'm 100 percent." (Source: Chicago Tribune)

Fantasy Impact: Kirk Hinrich and Aaron Brooks will fill in for Rose as he looks to get back to 100%. Be patient with Rose because when he's healthy he is one of the best. He's still a true No. 1 PG.

The Bulls will be without starting PG Derrick Rose once again. He won't play on Saturday night against Indiana due to a left hamstring injury he suffered against Toronto on Thursday. (Source: K.C. Johnson on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Kirk Hinrich will draw the start in Rose's absence, but Aaron Brooks will be the better fantasy option at this point off the bench. Keep an eye out for more updates regarding Rose's status moving forward. The Bulls are being very cautious with their star PG and rightfully so.

Rose injured his left hamstring in the 4th quarter of Thursday's win after playing 30 minutes. He added 20 points, 3 rebounds and 4 assists in Toronto.

Fantasy Impact: Keep checking back on Rose's status before games because you never know when he'll sit out due to his ankle and now hamstring issues. However, he is a must start when he is in the lineup because he still has what it takes to be a top-5 PG in fantasy leagues.

Rose wound up starting against Detroit on Monday night, finishing with a team-high 24 points along with 7 assists in 32 minutes.

Fantasy Impact: It remains to be seen whether Rose can continue to start or if he will sit a couple games out due to his sprained ankles. When he starts he's been effective. Keep him in your lineups until further notice.

Rose didn't take practice in the morning shootaround and will once again be a game-time call against Detroit on Monday night.

Fantasy Impact: Rose will likely see how his ankles feel in pregame warmups, but you can tentatively plan to have Kirk Hinrich in the Bulls' starting lineup and Aaron Brooks coming off the bench. Brooks is the recommended option for as long as this situation lasts. Stay tuned.

Rose (ankle) didn't take part in Friday's early morning shootaround and doesn't look poised to suit up against Philly on Friday night. (Source: Chicago Tribune)

Fantasy Impact: The Bulls would be wise to give Rose rest against the winless 76ers. If Rose sits, Kirk Hinrich will draw the start, but Aaron Brooks would likely be the more upside play if you needed a PG at the last second. It remains to be seen when Rose will return, the Bulls host Boston on Saturday and Detroit on Monday before traveling to Toronto on Thursday. Stay tuned for the latest.

Rose (sprained ankles) played through pain in Wednesday night's win over Milwaukee. He played a season-high 31 minutes, but the Bulls might opt to keep him out this Friday against the winless 76ers.

Fantasy Impact: He is a game-time decision listed as questionable by Bulls officials. If he can't go Kirk Hinrich will draw the start, but Aaron Brooks would be worth the start at PG on the spot. Stay tuned for more updates.

"Of course I wasn't 100 percent tonight but I felt like we needed this win," Rose said. "And just try to come out here and do anything it takes to get this win with my teammates." (Source: ESPN)

Fantasy Impact: Despite coming into Wednesday night's game questionable with sprained ankles, Rose played through it in a season-high 31 minutes. He added 13 points and 7 assists in the 95-86 win over the Bucks. Don't sell low on Rose just yet he seems to just be coming into his own. He's still a top 10 option at PG.

Rose (ankle) practiced on Monday as well as Taj Gibson and Jimmy Butler who are dealing with injuries. Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau said that Rose is "better [Monday] than he was on [Sunday]." (Source: CSN Chicago)

Fantasy Impact: He could be a game-time decision by tomorrow evening, but expect Rose to start and at least play 20 minutes. Kirk Hinrich and Aaron Brooks should be expected to fill in as well. Stay tuned for more news on Rose prior to Tuesday night's tip-off.

Rose finished the night with 20 points, 4 assists and 4 rebounds in 25 minutes before exiting late in the 4th quarter against Cleveland.

Fantasy Impact: Obviously an injury to Rose is a concern at any point in the season, especially this early. It seems to be a tweak that he played through during the game. His status should be updated after the game. Stay tuned.

Rose had 13 points on 3-7 shooting with 5 assists and 3 rebounds in Wednesday night's blowout win over the Knicks.

Fantasy Impact: The Bulls routed the Knicks in the 2nd half, so Rose sat in favor of Aaron Brooks for most of it. He was effective at times, but didn't play a complete game. He's still looking to find his offensive groove, but for the most part he looked like the old Derrick Rose. Much like Joakim Noah, the advice is to be patient.

Rose added a game-high 27 points along with 5 assists and 2 rebounds in Friday night's 113-112 loss to the Timberwolves. He finished 12-23 shooting and was attacking the rim all night long.

Fantasy Impact: If Rose can continue this progress heading into next Wednesday's season opener against the Knicks he could be in for a successful year. He added 57 points in Chicago's final 2 preseason games. His ADP of 36 is looking way too low after those outings. If he can stay healthy the sky is the limit for D-Rose.

LeBron James and the Cavs may have snapped the Bulls' 4-game preseason winning streak, but Chicago has to be happy with how Derrick Rose played. He sure looked the Rose of old leading all scorers with 30 points on 12-18 shooting.

Fantasy Impact: He made 4-5 3-point attempts. snagged 5 rebounds and dished out 3 assists in just 24 minutes of play. Clearly playing against LeBron and the Cavs pumped Rose up with Jimmy Butler (thumb) sitting out. More performances like this and Rose's ADP of 35 will sky rocket very soon.

Rose finished 3-9 shooting from the field with 10 points, 4 rebounds and only one assist in Thursday night's win against Atlanta.

Fantasy Impact: Rose only played 21 minutes, while Kirk Hinrich stepped in for 27 and Aaron Brooks was out there for 17. Rose has been up and down this preseason, but he is a great pick at his ADP of 37. He could easily turn on the jets as the season progresses.

Rose scored 15 points on 4 of 12 from the field, but he made up for it making all 6 FT attempts. He also dished out 5 assists and added 5 rebounds.

Fantasy Impact: Rose is certainly looking like his old self early on this preseason and that's a great thing for Bulls fans and fantasy owners. His ADP of 36 may seem high considering his past health issues, but he is worth the gamble. He's a high-risk, high-reward, who should lead the Bulls in scoring if he can make it through the season unscathed.

Rose played just 14 minutes, all in the first half and finished the evening with 6 points, all on free throw attempts. He was 0-4 shooting overall in Tuesday night's loss to Detroit.

Fantasy Impact: He is certainly trying to find his rhythm as he plays in his first NBA action in over a year. It will take time for Rose to be who he once was, but he has looked the part at times through 2 preseason games, driving to basket and making athletic plays. He is a high-risk, high-reward player in fantasy basketball drafts. Rose is currently the No. 11 ranked Fantasy Pros PG behind Ty Lawson and ahead of Eric Bledsoe.
