According to Ian Begley, Tom Thibodeau says Derrick Rose hasn’t been cleared for contact and is "unlikely" to return this season.
Fantasy Impact
Rose, who has continued to deal with knee injuries throughout his year and dating back to before the All-Star break remains out Monday and likely for the entire season. The veteran guard has yet to be cleared for contact and has yet to practice or return to conditioning.
Knicks guard Derrick Rose is 'far away' from making his return, per Marc Berman.
Fantasy Impact
Rose has been dealing with the fallout of an ankle procedure he underwent a few weeks ago, but it may still be a while before he is able to return. Fantasy managers should keep tabs on possible updates on him, and he should also be dropped, as he could get shut down for the season.
Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau said there might be an update on injured guard Derrick Rose in 7-10 days.
Fantasy Impact
The former MVP underwent a minor procedure to address a skin affection on his right ankle, the same ankle that Rose had surgically repaired in December. With the calendar turning to March, Rose is running out of time to make a comeback. With Kemba Walker out for the year, there’s a chance for someone to make a fantasy impact, but Rose isn’t worth rostering for now.
Knicks guard Derrick Rose will have a minor procedure performed on his right ankle today according to a team statement. There is no established timeline for his return yet.
Fantasy Impact
Rose has already been out since December with an ankle injury but this "minor procedure" the 33-year old guard is undergoing today (Friday) is surprising as he was expected back immediately following the All Star Break. Any owners still stashing Rose (for his 96.8% free throw shooting, of course) will have to wait until more is known following the procedure before deciding if he is still worth the roster/IR spot with only 23 games remaining on New York's schedule. Injuries have limited Rose (12 ppg, 4 app, 3 reg) to playing in only 26 of 59 games this season, another disappointing piece of a disappointing season for a Knicks team (25-34) wallowing in 12-place in the East after securing the 4th seed last season.
New York Knicks guard Derrick Rose could return to action Friday depending on how his ankle responds to practicing in full on Wednesday, according to Steve Popper from Newsday.
Fantasy Impact
Rose, who hasn’t played since mid December against Houston, will initially come off the bench according to head coach Tom Thibodeau, but could be in line for a larger role when ready. With Kemba Walker getting shut down for the season, Rose will compete for time with Alec Burks, Immanuel Quickley, and Quentin Grimes. The veteran Rose averaged a respectable 12 points and 4 assists before his injury, but could be a solid fantasy asset down the stretch if he receives more playing time.
