G - BOS
The Celtics have announced Derrick White has officially been ruled out for Thursday’s Game 2 in Miami according to the South Florida Sun Sentinel’s Ira Winderman.
Derrick White will miss Game 2 for the birth of his first child. White left Miami after Game 1 in order to be at the birth. Marcus Smart (foot) is expected to return for Boston after missing Game 1 but White’s absence leaves the same depth hole to fill in the Celtics’ backcourt. Look for Payton Pritchard to see big minutes like he did when Smart was out in the last game. White should return Saturday for Game 3 in Boston.
Derrick White scored 17 points (6-7 FG, 3-3 3PT, 2-3 FT) to go along with five rebounds and three assists on Sunday against the Wizards.
White has now scored in double figures in six of his last seven games. The Celtics are going to need him to continue to provide a spark off the bench as a scorer.
Derrick White recorded 15 points (4-6 FG, 2-4 3PT, 5-5 FT), two rebounds, six assists, one steal, and four turnovers in 30 minutes off the bench in Sunday's blowout win over the Timberwolves.
White has now stringed together three games with double figure scoring. The shifty guard has also logged 30 plus minutes in four of his last five games which is great since it is correlating well with the Celtics success. The Celtics may rest their stars on the second leg of a back-to-back on Monday. Keep tabs on the situation as the Colorado product may inherit some offensive responsibilities Monday.
Derrick White got the start on Monday and put up 18 points, five rebounds, and five assists in 34 minutes. He shot 5-for-10 from the field and was a perfect 7-for-7 from the charity stripe in the win over the Thunder.
White got the starting nod on Monday with Marcus Smart out and parlayed the extra playing time into a strong fantasy night. The Celtics next game is on Wednesday at home against the Jazz. Watch the injury report to see if Smart remains out due to illness, if so go ahead and fire up White in DFS and fantasy leagues.
Celtics G Derrick White scored five points (2-10 FG, 1-2 FT) while adding in four rebounds and an assist across 22 minutes during Sunday's loss to the Mavericks.
For the second consecutive game in a row, White trended down. He managed five points and four rebounds while going 2-10 from the field. Altogether, the Celtics offense played stagnant outside of just White but it's something to monitor as his minutes have dropped as well as his production in two straight games.
