76ers have waived Gerald Wallace on Saturday.
Fantasy Impact
While the Sixers will still absorb his hefty contract, the extra roster is the advantage of the move. Wallace, who is near the end of his career, could latch onto another team and act as a veteran figure.
Recently acquired forward Gerald Wallace has been traded by Golden State to Philadelphia in exchange for Jason Thompson. Just three weeks ago Wallace was sent to the Warriors from Boston in the David Lee trade. The 33-year-old played in only 32 games for the Celtics last season, averaging less than nine minutes per game.
Fantasy Impact
Wallace most likely will be waived by the 76ers and it may be the end of the road for his NBA playing career. The 6'7" forward ended his run as fantasy material a few years back anyways.
ESPN sources say that the Celtics have agreed to send Gerald Wallace to the Warriors for David Lee.
Fantasy Impact
The main reason the Warriors acquired Gerald Wallace was a salary dump. He'll likely be waived by the Warriors via the stretch provision, which will enable Golden State to reduce Wallace's annual cap hit. Wallace could catch on with another team but will be in a bench role and offers no fantasy value.
Celtics forward Gerald Wallace is starting to feel the old age get to him. The 14-year veteran has played just 27 of Boston's 65 games this year and will consider retirement during the offseason, reports The Boston Globe.
Fantasy Impact
Gerald Wallace has been an after thought for the Celtics this year. He has played very little and has scored just 23 points this season with 38 rebounds. He has provided leadership and energy while on the bench to the younger players but he has not been a part of their success on the floor with them.
Wallace's playing time will be cut back significantly, in part because the aches and pains that come with being an NBA veteran are not subsiding as quickly as they used to. But you won't hear him complaining, about his injury or his smaller playing role this season. "Whatever the team needs me to do," Wallace said. "Whatever coach (Brad Stevens) needs me to do. We've already talked about it. I'm in a position where I'm comfortable with it." Stevens reiterated that he and Wallace spoke earlier about his role for this upcoming season. In their meeting, Stevens said Wallace shared with him many of the same sentiments he had shared earlier with the media. "He's willing to do whatever to help this team," Stevens said prior to Boston's practice on Monday. "That's a great thing. He's been a great veteran. That's a real positive."
Fantasy Impact
Gerald Wallace's fantasy value has dropped significantly in the last couple of years. With his role this year on the Celtics it would not even be worth drafting him in any fantasy league.
