Jeremiah Martin scores career-high 24 points off the bench in win

Jeremiah Martin scored a career-high 24 points Tuesday on 8-of-15 shooting from the field and 7-of-8 from the free throw line. He added two rebounds and six assists across 26 minutes.

Fantasy Impact

Martin has had the green light during the re-start, putting up more than eight shots in four of the five games he has played. The Nets have one more seeding game before the playoffs start, so look for Martin to get at least one more opportunity at respectable minutes off the bench. Once the playoffs start, he'll likely be relegated to a minimal role as a deep reserve.

Jeremiah Martin pours in team-high 20 points in 15 minutes off the bench

Jeremiah Martin made the most of his 15 minutes off the bench Wednesday, scoring 20 points (8-12 FG, 2-2 FT, 2-4 3PT) with one rebound, four assists, one steal, and two turnovers in 149-115 loss to the Celtics.

Fantasy Impact

Martin played down the stretch in this one after the game got out of hand. He caught fire and ended up connecting on 67 percent of his shots from the field. A performance like this isn't likely moving forward, but there could be more opportunities for Martin should the Nets be trailing by a large margin again. They'll take on the Kings Friday, and while Martin had a nice performance tonight, he shouldn't be trusted for fantasy purposes.

Jeremiah Martin a welcomed surprise for the Nets

Jeremiah Martin has been a welcomed surprise for the Nets as they continue to piece together a new playoff-ready roster. Interim head coach Jacque Vaughn commented that “Jeremiah Martin has been a surprise for us. His ability to compete. That’s all we ask at this beginning stage is to compete. Whether that’s knowing the plays, knowing different implementations, or having yourself ready every day. I give him a pat on the back as well.” Two-way player Martin also received praise from the Nets’ current leading man Caris LeVert as he said, “Jeremiah has been a huge addition for us. He is very quick with the basketball, makes great decisions, very good shooter, too. I liked him when he was in college in Memphis. It’s been cool to be on the same team with him and learn some things from him, as well.”

Fantasy Impact

With the amount of depth, the Nets had within their back-court earlier this year, Martin hardly saw any time on the floor; however, with all of the roster losses, he is expected to see a role increase. Although the undrafted rookie only played in three games with the Nets this year, he earned his stripes by performing in the G-League. This year in the G-League, he played a total of 37 games, between the Sioux Falls Skyforce and the Long Island Nets, and average a total of 30.4 minutes of playing time, 17.7 points, 3.5 rebounds, 4.8 assists, 1.8 steals, and .5 blocks. His level of production would be invaluable for the Nets as they prepare for the upcoming “seeding” games. Should Martin be able to take advantage of this unforeseen circumstance and produce, he might be interesting to keep track of as a potential “dart” play in the deepest of league competition. As of now, however, with little to no exposure to NBA level competition, it would be best to fade him at this time.
