Josh Smith has been released by the Pelicans on Friday after signing with the team on October 28th. Smith played only 12 minutes total scoring a total of two points. He will look to sign on elsewhere but may have a tough time.

Smith needs to be waived by fantasy owners if they thought he had some chance of producing this season. Dante Cunningham and Chieck Diallo will see more minutes behind Anthony Davis.
Josh Smith has joined the Israeli club Maccabi Hunter Haifa on a training camp deal during the NBA's tour. The Pacers, Jazz, and Blazers will be there while Smith will be showcasing his skills for interested teams. The Pelicans and Rockets are already interested so a deal could be made soon.

Smith is looking to get back into the NBA so this training camp deal may help. Smith wouldn't be a fantasy option although he should provide some flashy dunks and show his ability to chuck three-pointers.

There appears to be mutual interest, and a deal could be completed soon according to reports. Smith spent last season in China where he averaged a double-double. If he does return to Houston he's unlikely to be fantasy-relevant given his usage during the 2015-16 season.
Josh Smith has been unable to produce as a starter and on Sunday against the Spurs he scored two points with eight rebounds and four assists in 29 minutes.

This is now eight straight and 12 out of his last 13 games that he has failed to score 10 points or more. Smith is a frustrating player for the Rockets as he has the ability to produce but his shot selection has always been less than ideal. When he returned to the Rockets some figured he may start to perform better but that has just not happened.
Smith will take over at the starting power forward position for Tuesday's match up against Utah.

If you can make the switch for Smith, it is possible he can see around 20+ minutes, making him a punt-play in DFS.
