Kelly Oubre Jr. (knee) could return in April

Kelly Oubre Jr. (knee) could make his return to the court in mid-April from a torn meniscus he suffered back in late February.

Fantasy Impact

Oubre Jr. had surgery on March 3 to repair a torn meniscus he suffered on February 24. It was reported that he would be re-evaluated after four weeks to see if a return was feasible. At the time, the regular season was set to end on April 15, but now, with the NBA suspension of at least 30 days, Oubre Jr could be cleared for his return around the time the league resumes play. That’s assuming the NBA decides to play regular season games at that time, as the Suns are most likely not going to make the playoffs this year. If you have an open IR spot on your roster, it might not be a bad idea to pick up the Phoenix G/F who was having a top-50 type year before the unfortunate injury.

Kelly Oubre Jr. (knee) to miss at least four weeks after surgery

Kelly Oubre Jr. (torn meniscus) will miss at least four weeks after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his right knee.

Fantasy Impact

After originally being ruled out for the remainder of the year, Oubre Jr. is set to be re-evaluated in four weeks after undergoing surgery to repair a torn meniscus he suffered back on February 24th. Although this is good news for his long term health, there will only be a few games remaining once Oubre is re-evaluated and unless the Suns make a big comeback in the standings, it would be surprising to see him suit up again this season. Mikal Bridges should continue receiving most of the minutes vacated by Oubre as long as he remains out.

Kelly Oubre Jr. suffered torn meniscus

After missing the last game with what was called a general “knee” injury, an initial exam has revealed that Kelly Oubre Jr. has in fact suffered a torn meniscus in his right knee.

Fantasy Impact

He will seek a second opinion, but let’s not get our hopes up. This is not the news fantasy owners wanted to hear regarding Oubre’s knee injury. He was one of the biggest fantasy surprises of the season, and had been paying huge dividends for his owners. Dario Saric took his place in the starting lineup last game and saw 31 minutes. Cameron Johnson was the first man off the bench and saw a generous 26 minutes of game action. Look for both guys to see these type of minutes going forward for the short-handed Suns.

Kelly Oubre Jr. (right knee) is out for tomorrow’s game

Kelly Oubre Jr. (right knee) has been ruled out for Wednesday night’s game vs. the Los Angeles Clippers.

Fantasy Impact

The Suns can never seem to be at full strength when facing the Clippers this season. DeAndre Ayton missed the first game, Devin Booker missed the second, and now Oubre will be missing the third. Look for Cameron Johnson or Dario Saric to enter the starting lineup in place of Oubre tomorrow night. Both Johnson and Saric make for interesting DFS plays tomorrow, but for season-long fantasy leagues they are best left on the waiver wire. Mikal Bridges and Devin Booker could see higher usage rates in this game as well, as somebody will have to make up for Oubre’s missing 18.7 points per game. Hopefully this is only a short-term injury and Oubre can return to the court on Friday when the Suns take on the Detroit Pistons.

Kelly Oubre Jr. modestly fills the stat sheet in win over Jazz

Kelly Oubre Jr. put up 18 points (7-13 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 3-4 FT), three rebounds, two assists, one steal, and one block across 38 minutes as the Suns beat the Jazz 131-111 on Monday.

Fantasy Impact

The 18 points Oubre scored tonight were the most he's put up since February 8th. He's been somewhat quiet since the All-Star break but a big game should be coming soon. While this wasn't his best game, this performance showed why he has been such a force in eight and nine category leagues this season. He's capable of stuffing the stat sheet on any given night. Oubre will have a chance to do just that on Wednesday when the Suns battle the Clippers.
