Kevin Martin to start Friday

Kevin Martin will start on Friday as Danny Green gets a day of rest.

Fantasy Impact

Capable of huge scoring nights, Martin is a decent low-priced play in daily leagues. He has played limited minutes since signing with the Spurs but averaging over 17.9 points per 36 minutes with Minnesota this year.

Kevin Martin officially signs with the Spurs

The San Antonio Spurs today announced that they have signed guard Kevin Martin. Per club policy, terms of the contract were not announced.

Fantasy Impact

Martin averages 17.6 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 1.9 assists for his career. He is one of just five active players with over 1,000 three-pointers while averaging at least 38.0 percent from beyond the arc for their career, along with Stephen Curry, Kyle Korver, Mike Miller and Dirk Nowitzki. Martin will likely come off the bench for Danny Green, but will probably average around 20 minutes per game. He is worth owning in most leagues due to his potential, but his size of role remains to be seen at this point.

Kevin Martin agrees to buyout

The Minnesota Timberwolves and shooting guard Kevin Martin have agreed to terms on a buyout. The announcement came about a half hour before the deadline for Martin to be eligible for the post-season with another team. In a statement, Martin said the two parties came to an agreement "after five sleepless nights." The San Antonio Spurs have expressed interest in signing Martin.

Fantasy Impact

Martin has played in just four games in the second half of the season after a nagging wrist injury kept him out of the lineup. This season, he has averaged 10.6 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 1.2 assists in 39 appearances.

San Antonio Spurs emerge as top suitor for Kevin Martin pending buyout

The Minnesota Timberwolves have until March 1 to buyout Kevin Martin's contract in order for him to be eligible for the postseason with another team. The San Antonio Spurs have emerged as top contenders for signing Martin pending a buyout. The Cleveland Cavaliers, Dallas Mavericks, and Houston Rockets have also expressed interest in the 33-year-old shooting guard.

Fantasy Impact

Martin has been used sparingly this season by the Wolves, who have fully focused on developing their young players in the wake of their inability to build on an 8-8 start.

Timberwolves nearing buyout with Kevin Martin

Kevin Martin and the Minnesota Timberwolves are having "advanced talks" in buyout negotiations. If Martin stays with the team, he can use his player option for next season worth $7.4 million, a number he is unlikely to get in the free agent market. Owner Glen Taylor said he would be "open" to negotiations to keep Martin in Minnesota for another season adding, "you always need some guys with experience who can shoot threes."

Fantasy Impact

Martin played four minutes in the Timberwolves loss to Toronto on Wednesday night, his first game appearance since January 23.
