C Marc Gasol spent just one season with the Lakers and has now been traded back to his first team in Memphis. His stay won't be long though, as the team is planning to now waive and release him.
Gasol has had a wonderful NBA career, making three all-star teams, two-all nba teams, an all-defensive team as well as winning a Defensive Player of the Year award during his time with Memphis. He then topped off his career with a championship in Toronto. He certainly has a formidable HOF resume if you include his Olympic success with Spain should he call it quits, although I'm sure he could still provide some veteran leadership on a lot of teams should he be interested. Nonetheless, Gasol's fantasy relevant days are sadly over.
Marc Gasol totaled zero points (0-1 FG), three rebounds, seven assists, and one block in the Lakers’ 113-100 loss to the Suns on Thursday.
Gasol scored 0.0 points in the Suns’ series finale loss to the Suns ending the series having averaged 17.6 minutes, 5.2 points, 3.8 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 0.8 blocks, and 0.8 steals per game while shooting 63.3 percent from the floor and 62.0 percent from beyond the arc.
Marc Gasol is available to play for the Lakers on Saturday against Utah.
Andre Drummond is also returning to the court, so it remains to be seen how much action Gasol will see on the court.
Marc Gasol collected 18 points (7-10 FG, 4-6 3Pt), four rebounds and three assists as the Lakers were defeated by Boston on Thursday.
Gasol was the de facto deep threat on Thursday for Los Angeles. He connected on four three-pointers to the tune of a 66.7 percentage from beyond the arc. The center, who was coming off of hamstring trouble, co-lead his team in field goals on the night with seven. He recorded 29 fantasy points on the night (DraftKings), which marked his second-highest total over the last ten games.
Lakers' big man Marc Gasol is listed as probable for Thursday's contest against the Celtics.
Although this is good news in terms of Gasol's recovery, he still remains an afterthought both in the Lakers' front court and in fantasy circles. With the recent acquisition of Andre Drummond and the presence of Montrezl Harrell, Gasol provides little fantasy value and should remain on waivers.
