Marc Gasol Exercises Player Option

Marc Gasol exercised his $25.6 million player option on Wednesday and will return to play with the Toronto Raptors for the 2019-20 season.

Fantasy Impact

This was the expected move for the 34-year-old center, as it was very unlikely he'd fetch a pay-day of this magnitude on the free agent market. After a midseason trade placed Gasol in the midst of a run towards a championship victory, he has proven he can still be a useful player on a winning team. However, his days of all-star level production are behind him.

Marc Gasol produces but Raptors fall in Game 5

Marc Gasol put up a solid line of 17 points, eight rebounds and two assists on just six field-goal attempts. This was in spite of him dealing with foul trouble throughout the game; he finished with five personal fouls.

Fantasy Impact

Gasol was leaned on heavily in the early going for the Raptors. The three-point shots weren't falling, so they established the big man and he shouldered the load. He scored the first seven points of the game for the Raptors and led the team in scoring until he was overtaken by Kawhi Leonard midway through the second quarter. Following the loss, Gasol and the Raps will look to respond at Oracle Arena on Wednesday.

Marc Gasol struggling to produce for the Toronto Raptors

It was another poor performance for Marc Gasol in game two vs the Bucks on Friday - scoring only two points on one-of-nine field goal attempts. Gasol got off to an awful start for the Raptors and the Bucks were able to quickly go up 15 points in the first quarter. Marc Gasol has shot a putrid 15 percent from the floor this series and the talented Center will have to find his game quickly if the Raptors have any chance of coming back this series.

Fantasy Impact

Gasol was the big trade acquisition Raptors GM Masai Ujiri made this year in hopes of getting his team to the championship. He has been solid defensively, but the veteran needs to shoot the ball better and provide a spark offensively if the Raptors want to advance to the championship. Once a threat for a triple-double on any given night - Marc Gasol cannot be relied on right now in fantasy.

Marc Gasol sniffs triple-double on Sunday afternoon

Marc Gasol put in eight points, 10 rebounds and seven dimes in 33 minutes of game action on Sunday.

Fantasy Impact

Gasol hasn't been putting up flashy numbers for the Raptors but he's been a wonderful facilitator in the offence, dishing out to Pascal Siakam for the final dagger in OT of the 117-109 win. Gasol isn't a great fantasy option—especially in DFS—because of his large standard deviation.

Marc Gasol scores 13 points versus Magic

Marc Gasol had 13 points on 4-of-8 shooting Monday night against the Magic. In 25 minutes, he added four rebounds and four assists in the 121-109 win.

Fantasy Impact

Gasol has started the last 11 games for the Raptors but has averaged just 9.2 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 4.2 assists during that stretch. It is just not enough for fantasy owners to roster him down the stretch.
