Mike James is in the rotation for the Pelicans with Jameer Nelson now in Chicago. James played only four minutes and added one assist and one rebound.
With the Pelicans thin due to injuries and the recent trade for Nikola Mirotic, James could see plenty of minutes if Rajon Rondo missed any time. Leave James on the waiver wire.
Mike James agrees to a two-way deal on Saturday with the Pelicans after spending time earlier this season with the Suns before being waived in place of Isaiah Canaan.
James joins a crowded backcourt in New Orleans with Rajon Rondo, Jrue Holiday, E'Twaun Moore, Jameer Nelson, and Ian Clark. However, he could fight his way in if injuries allow him to. Leave him on the wire but keep an eye on him.
Mike James will be released by the Suns as the team will sign Isaiah Canaan to a deal for the remainder of the season. After the Eric Bledsoe trade, it looked like James could steal the starting job from Tyler Ulis and now he's being released over Canaan. James is a decent bet to sign on with PG-needy team.
James can now be dropped in all leagues with Isaiah Cannan now on the 12-team league radar. If you're in need of a point guard, Canaan is even a better option right now over Tyler Ulis. With Devin Booker out, Canaan should be fired up in DFS lineups.
Mike James followed up his 25-point performance against the Spurs by dropping 17 points in Tuesday's loss to the Kings. James shot 7-for-12 from the field and 1-for-3 from three in 20 minutes off the bench. He also dished out five assists and grabbed one rebound.
After six straight games of scoring 10 or less points, it appears Mike James has bounced back as he's averaged 21 points and 3.5 assists over his last two games. Tuesday also marked the second straight game in which James outperformed starting point guard Tyler Ulis. If James outplays Ulis again in Wednesday night's matchup with the Raptors there's a chance he could move into the starting lineup as his scoring ability could really help the Suns with Devin Booker out.
Mike James scored 25 points in Saturday's loss to the Spurs. James shot 8-for-16 from the field, including 2-for-5 from three, in 29 minutes off the bench. He also recorded three steals, two assists and two rebounds.
Despite this big game from James, he shouldn't be considered as a fantasy option right now. However, if Tyler Ulis continues to struggle and Mike James enters the starting lineup he could be a decent play just because of volume.
