Topić has been working his way back from chemotherapy treatments he underwent in late October after being diagnosed with testicular cancer. He does not have a clear timetable to return, but it is a great sign to see him working his way back.

Thunder general manager Sam Presti announced Thursday that Nikola Topic has been diagnosed with testicular cancer. The 20-year-old underwent a testicular procedure in the offseason, which Presti revealed was a biopsy that confirmed the diagnosis. Topic has already begun chemotherapy treatment.

According to Presti, the medical team is confident that Topic will make a recovery. There is currently no discussion about a timeline for his return to the court, as his health and well-being are the main priority. He is out indefinitely and should not be rostered in any fantasy leagues.

Topic missed the entire 2024-25 season due to a torn ACL and will now miss at least the Thunder’s first six games in October before being re-evaluated in November. While he’s sidelined, Ajay Mitchell and Carson Wallace are expected to see additional minutes in the backcourt.

Topic, who was drafted No. 12 overall by the Thunder back in June, will miss all of his rookie season. He suffered the injury in May and it was reported in early June that he partially tire his ACL.
