Richaun Holmes hoping to finish his career in Sacramento with the Kings

Kings F/C Richaun Holmes told NBC Sports California recently that, “I absolutely love Sacramento. This community, this city, these fans - have shown me, in my short time here, that I really couldn’t see myself playing anywhere else.”

Fantasy Impact

Holmes came to Sacramento via free agency in the Summer of 2019, signing a two-year, $10M deal with the Kings. He spent three seasons with the 76ers, where he wasn’t much more than a role player off the bench for a rebuilding squad. He then spent a year in Phoenix before joining the Kings. He was having a fantastic 2019-2020 season, averaging a career high 12.8 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks in 29 minutes per game. He also shot 65.4% from the field and 80% from the stripe. Holmes was a top-50 player in 9-category head to head leagues before the season got postponed. He was one of the top pickups in fantasy basketball for many owners this year. Look for Holmes, only 26 years old, to continue finding success as he continues to grow and fine-tune his game, hopefully in Sacramento.

Richaun Holmes posts 10 & 8 line in return

Richaun Holmes provided 10 points (3-8 FG, 4-6 FT) eight rebounds and one block 19 minutes in Saturday's 123-111 win over the Trail Blazers.

Fantasy Impact

Holmes returned Saturday from nearly a two-month absence due to a labral tear in his right shoulder. He logged 19 minutes and chipped in 10 points off the bench in Saturday's win over Portland. Holmes was able to come away from the game unscathed and should be fine going forward. He might be limited the first few games, but with the Kings in the hunt fotr the eighth seed, the 26-year old should see plenty of run as the season winds down. The Kings next scheduled game is Sunday, home against the Raptors.

Richaun Holmes (shoulder) officially listed as questionable Saturday

Richaun Holmes (shoulder) is officially listed as questionable for tonight’s game against the Trail Blazers.

Fantasy Impact

Holmes hasn’t played since January 6 with the right shoulder injury. With Sacramento only 3.5 games out of the eight seed, Holmes’ return can only help the Kings. Harry Giles III has held it down in Holmes’ absence and could very well remain the starter in the short-term, but don’t be shocked if Holmes regains his spot in the starting lineup. Before the injury, Holmes was posting top 50 numbers in 9-cat leagues, averaging 13.1 points, 8.5 boards, 1.1 steals, and 1.4 blocks in over 29 minutes per game. Get him off the IR and back onto your active roster.

Richaun Holmes (shoulder) could play this weekend

Sacramento Kings’ coach Luke Walton has said that there is a chance that Richaun Holmes will play this weekend.

Fantasy Impact

Holmes will not play in Thursday’s contest against the 76er’s but has a chance to play in either Saturday’s contest against the Trail Blazers, Sunday against the Raptors, or both. Holmes has not played since January 6th after suffering a labral tear but should re-assume his starting role shortly after his return, of not in his first game back. The fifth year power forward / center was in the midst of a breakout year before the injury, averaging 13.1 points, 8.5 rebounds, 1.4 blocks, 1.1 steals, and 1.0 assists per game.

Richaun Holmes (shoulder) ruled out Thursday

Richaun Holmes (shoulder) has been ruled out for Thursday’s game against the 76ers.

Fantasy Impact

Holmes has been cleared for full contact, but will not play Thursday’s tilt against the 76ers. He has been out since January 6th due to a lateral tear in his right shoulder. Holmes is trending in the right direction for a return, but will most likely return this weekend. The 26-year old is averaging 13.1 points, 8.5 rebounds, 1.0 assists, 1.0 steals and 1.4 blocks across 37 games this season. Look for Harry Giles to continue to see an expanded role with Holmes sidelined.
