Zach Edey (ankle) requires another six weeks

The Grizzlies announced Wednesday that Edey will continue his current offloading and rehabilitation program for a stress reaction in his left ankle, with another re-evaluation scheduled in six weeks. The second-year center originally sustained the injury on Dec. 11 and was initially shut down for at least four weeks. Despite spending the past month rehabbing, he now requires an additional six-week recovery period.

Fantasy Impact

With both Edey and Brandon Clarke (calf) sidelined long-term, Jock Landale continues as Memphis' starting center. The extended timeline keeps Edey out through mid-February at minimum before his next evaluation.

Zach Edey (ankle) to miss at least four weeks

Zach Edey has been diagnosed with a stress reaction in his left ankle and will be re-evaluated in approximately four weeks.

Fantasy Impact

Edey, who underwent surgery on his left ankle in June to repair and restabilize it after a sprain during offseason training, has reinjured the ankle, which is certainly concerning. However, the Memphis Grizzlies announced he is expected to make a full recovery with a period of offloading and rehab. Since returning, Edey has been outstanding in 11 games, averaging 13.6 points, 11.1 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 1.9 blocks in 25.8 minutes per game. With him sidelined, Jock Landale is likely to step in as the team’s starting center, while Santi Aldama will see increased minutes off the bench.

Zach Edey anchors defense in win over Clippers

Zach Edey was a stabilizing force in the paint during Friday's victory over the Clippers, leading the Grizzlies with two blocked shots in 29 minutes of action. The center also contributed 10 points (4-of-8 FG, 2-of-3 FT), eight rebounds, and one assist.

Fantasy Impact

While the statistical output was modest across the board, Edey's defensive presence was a key factor in the win. He battled effectively on both ends of the floor, providing solid, if unspectacular, production. Fantasy managers will look for a more robust line when the Grizzlies take on the Trail Blazers on Sunday.

Zach Edey posts big double-double Wednesday

Zach Edey scored 21 points (10-15 FG, 1-1 FT) to go with 15 rebounds and two blocks in Wednesday's win over the Pelicans.

Fantasy Impact

Edey was questionable for this game due to migraine symptoms, but he showed no limitations at all in what is now his biggest performance of the season to date. The second-year center missed the first few weeks of the season. He appears ready to hold his own in the paint now.
