After having a stellar performance against the Nuggets during the "scrimmage" series, where he scored 14 points and grabbed eight rebounds, it would have made sense if the team provided him more opportunities to showcase what he can do; this, however, didn't happen. With Nicolo Melli struggling, there may be an opportunity for him to compete for the backup four position, but only time will tell.

Cheatham, undrafted rookie out of Arizona State, flashed his potential against the Nuggets and might have earned himself an opportunity to be a part of a talented front-court. Before this week, he had only played in three games for the Pelicans and spent most of his time in the G-League where he played in 34 contests for the Erie Bayhawks. He averaged 32.5 minutes of playing time, 16.2 points, 11.6 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 0.9 steals, and 0.6 blocks per game while shooting 53.4 percent from the floor. The potential is there; however, there is no way to evaluate his value accurately, given the small sample size. Considering that this was a performance against the number three team in the West, it should hold some weight. It could be worth keeping him on your radar as a long shot value play in deep-league and DFS formats.
