Anthony Edwards expected to go first overall if Warriors land pick
Sources have said that if the Warriors land the first overall pick in the 2020 draft, they will not trade down but use it to draft Anthony Edwards out of Georgia.
After plenty of successful seasons in recent years the Warriors found themselves at the bottom of the league's standings in 2019-2020, largely due to injuries to Steph Curry and Klay Thompson. Now the Warriors have the best chance at getting the first overall pick and are guaranteed a spot within the top five. Edwards declared for the draft in March and immediately signed with Octagon Basketball, a firm which also represents Curry. While the Warriors already have a great shooting guard in Thompson, Edwards is touted as the unanimous number one choice and coach Steve Kerr will assuredly find a way to keep them both on the court if he ends up in royal blue and golden yellow. The draft lottery date has been pushed back to August 25 and it appears that regardless of who gets the top pick Edwards should be the choice.
