The Baltimore Ravens announced this morning that they have placed running back, Alex Collins, on injured reserve. He will miss the remainder of the season and is a restricted free agent this off-season.

In a surprising turn of events, O.J. Howard has moved from possibly missing a game or two to being placed on the injured reserve. The Bucs are expected to use Cameron Brate as their starting tight end moving forward.

The Boston Red Sox announced this afternoon that likely American League Cy Young, Chris Sale, was moved to the disabled list because of an inflamed shoulder. Apparently, the injury is mild and Boston expects him back in 10 days.

Tanner Roark picked up the win and quality start by going 6 innings with 5 hits allowed and 3 earned runs. While the win is certainly useful, he only notched 1 strikeout on the evening.

Jorge Alfaro ended his skid Thursday with two hits including a solo homer in Philadelphia's blow-out loss to the Mets. Alfaro now has 24 extra-base hits in 292 at-bats this season, but 119 strikeouts in that time.

Nick Williams went 1 for 4 in the Phillies' 24-4 blow-out at home to the Mets. His hit was a homer, however. He now has 17 of them on the season to go with a quality .263 batting average and 48 RBIs.

David Dahl had a big game for the Rockies Thursday, hitting a solo homer in the third then a go-ahead two-run single and swiping a bag in the 9th inning off Brad Brach. Dahl now has an OPS over .800 on the season for Colorado.

Scott Kingery tallied his first two hits of August in Thursdays win. One of them came in the form of a homer, his 6th of the season.

Zach Eflin allowed a two-run double to Michael Conforto in the first inning then tossed five consecutive scoreless frames before surrendering two more runs in the seventh inning. He finished the game with 6.2 innings, 7 hits allowed and 4 earned runs, but picked up the win despite the pedestrian final line.

Joey Gallo went 2 for 4 with a homer and 2 runs in the Rangers 8-6 win versus the Angels Thursday. He is now above the Mendoza line with 32 homers and 73 RBIs.
