Zach Zenner finds tough sledding against Seattle's front seven
by Aaron Martinuzzi | Sun, Jan 8th 4:28pm EST
In his third start, Zach Zenner carried the ball 11 times for 34 rushing yards and caught six passes for 54 receiving yards.
Fantasy Impact:
It wasn't surprising that Zenner had a tough time running against Seattle's defensive front, but it was disappointing that half of his yardage came on one run with his other 10 carries averaging just 1.7 yards apiece. Zenner's evening was saved, especially in PPR formats, by his work in the receiving game. All told, the former undrafted free agent put together a nice end of the season, totaling 283 yards from scrimmage and three touchdowns in his three games as Detroit's lead back but isn't likely to start next season when Theo Riddick and Ameer Abdullah return from injury in 2017. For fantasy purposes, Zenner is worth monitoring in super-deep leagues as an emergency backup but no more than an interesting anomaly for most owners.
