Darren Sproles serves as lead back on Sunday
by Mike Maher | Mon, Sep 18th 9:17am EDT
Darren Sproles carried the ball 10 times for 48 yards and caught two passes for 30 yards in Sunday's loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. He was on the field for 50 offensive snaps on Sunday, while LeGarrette Blount played just six, as Sproles was clearly serving as the lead back for the Eagles on Sunday.
Fantasy Impact:
With Sproles, Blount, and Wendell Smallwood in the fold, it was assumed that the Eagles would run with some kind of running back committee this season, with Sproles resuming his usual change-of-pace and pass-catching roles. However, if Sunday is any indication, head coach Doug Pederson has soured on Blount and is leaning more on his other backs, specifically Sproles. Smallwood is worth grabbing as a handcuff if he is available on the waiver wire this week since the Eagles will likely not give the aging Sproles a large workload every week going forward.
