Odell Beckham Jr. threatens to holdout

by Anthony Cervino | Mon, Mar 26th 7:26pm EDT

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport is reporting New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. will hold out without a new contract in 2018 (Ian Rapoport on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

Per Rapoport, Beckham is suggesting that he "will not set foot on a field without a new contract extension agreed to — with the Giants or any team." This comes one day after Giants owner John Mara told the press that no one is "untouchable" when it comes to trade talks. However, in the wake of an afternoon full of reports and rumors suggesting everything from potential trade partners -- the Rams -- and contract extensions, it appears that things are dying down for the moment. NFL Network's Kim Jones is reporting that the Giants "are not shopping Beckham," later adding that a trade "is probably not going to happen." Still, this is far from over. I highly doubt the Giants will refrain from listening to offers for Beckham. If another team believes he is their missing piece, the Giants may entertain an offer they can't refuse. From a fantasy football perspective, I'd buy all the Beckham stock I can get my hands on, fully expecting to be on the field in Week 1 -- even if it's not with the Giants. A fine is one thing, but a lot can change once a player is about to lose game-checks.
