Thomas Rawls joins crowded Jets backfield

by Jody Smith | Fri, Mar 30th 5:01pm EDT

Former Seattle Seahawks running back Thomas Rawls signed a one-year deal with the New York Jets. Rawls will compete for carries with fellow free agent signee Isaiah Crowell, Bilal Powell, and Elijah McGuire in a crowded New York backfield. (Adam Schefter on twitter )

Fantasy Impact:

Rawls tailed off badly last season, averaging a paltry 2.7 yards-per-carry behind a terrible Seattle offensive line. Rawls burst onto the scene with a strong second half to his 2015 rookie campaign but has had little success since. Still just 24, there's time for Rawls to get his career back on track, but he'll have a hard time doing so with a mediocre Jets offense this season, where Rawls will further be hampered by competing for carries behind Crowell, Powell, McGuire, and any rookies the rebuilding Jets should select. Rawls is well off the fantasy radar.
