Fantasy Impact:

Had Berry still been on the roster Friday, $7.25 million of his $12.4 million salary for 2019 would have become fully guaranteed. The release comes with a post-June 1 designation, reducing the cap charge for 2019 by $8 million, pushing it to 2020. It’s a move that comes just days after the team agreed to terms on a deal with free agent safety Tyrann Mathieu. “I’d like to thank Eric for his contributions to our team and the Kansas City community over the last nine years,” Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said in a statement. “Seeing his passion and watching his love for the game has been truly remarkable. He’s a special person, and we wish him the best as his career moves forward.” Berry has struggled to stay healthy in recent years. With a torn achilles in the 2017 season-opener and a nagging heal issue in 2018, he has played in just three regular season games over the last two seasons.
