Broncos S Justin Simmons has officially signed his one-year, $11.44M franchise tag, but a long-term deal before the deadline “doesn’t look good.” (Mike Klis on Twitter)

According to sources, talks have stalled since proposals were exchanged in April. Simmons figures to be a big part of the Broncos future, and the team loves him, but it seems a multi-year extension will be revisited next offseason. Going into his fifth-season in Denver, Simmons has quietly become one of the league’s most underrated players at the free safety position. He should be in for a large payday after playing this season on the franchise tag.
