DeSean Jackson to see time in the slot this season?

by Mike Maher | Tue, Aug 25th 10:57pm EDT

Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson has been lining up in the slot with the first-team offense at times during training camp, and The Athletic's Zach Berman speculates that the team is planning to move Jackson around the formation this season to try to take advantage of matchups. Fantasy Impact:

The Eagles drafted wide receiver Jalen Reagor in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft, and his natural position is the Z, the same position as Jackson. Given their speed, the Eagles obviously want to get both of them on the field at the same time, so the team has been cross-training Reagor at all of the wide receiver positions while also giving Jackson some snaps in the slot. This shouldn't really move the needle in either direction for the fantasy value of either Jackson or Reagor, but it is an interesting development for Greg Ward, the favorite to start as the team's primary slot receiver. With Reagor and Jackson moving around the formation and, more specifically, into the slot, that could mean fewer snaps and targets for Ward.
