Clyde Edwards-Helaire could split carries with Darrel Williams Week 1?

by Brad Camara | Chiefs Correspondent | Thu, Sep 3rd 12:57pm EDT

Clyde Edwards-Helaire and Darrel Williams could "split most of the Chiefs’ rushing attempts on opening night," per Nate Taylor of the Athletic. (The Athletic)

Fantasy Impact:

The Chiefs want to ease Edwards-Helaire against the Texans Week 1, and Williams has had an impressive camp. "Don’t be surprised if Edwards-Helaire and Williams split most of the Chiefs’ rushing attempts on opening night," Taylor added. "Chiefs' HC Andy Reid and offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy will want to ease Edwards-Helaire, the Chiefs’ first-round pick, into a rhythm against the Texans. Williams has been tremendous in camp, as he is the Chiefs’ best pass-block option at the position." CEH is expected to handle the majority of the carries out of the Chiefs' backfield, but Williams will play a key role Week 1. Edwards-Helaire is currently seventh among all running backs in the latest expert consensus rankings.
