In a surprise move, the Dallas Cowboys released safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix on Thursday, according to a report from ESPN's Todd Archer. (Todd Archer on Twitter)

As Archer reported, Clinton-Dix signed a one-year deal worth $3.74 million this offseason, with $2.25 million guaranteed. He was expected to be a starter in the back-end of a Dallas secondary that already lost cornerback Byron Jones to free agency.
